When I did my wiper trough (ages ago); I completely stripped it and I put the car on a level surface and then actually poured resin (with hardener) in the trough to let it find it's own level and to seal any imperfections with that seam that runs through the middle of it....sealed that puppy right up! I let that dry well and I also painted it with a brush. Still looks great decades later
I have been informed that the green wire (or tube?) I was inquiring with y'all about controls the passenger-side fresh air vent. Problem solved! This has been semi-permanently closed-off now though however what with the Vintage Air AC kit I installed, so the wire is no longer necessary. I am not sure but will probably just leave it where it is.
ahaha that tube "going down there" is for the recirculation door. It blocks off fresh air entering from that area into the cab and another door opens up on the passenger floor to let cabin air recirculate.:) The other hoses are for wiper washer squirters. As for all that tar, ya I think its factory. You motivated me to do this and the friggin tar is ridiculous!
Por-15 is a excellent sealer for that. It come in a quart, spray and a tube of sealer. Amazon is the best place to buy. Por- 15 is a rust encapsulater.
First!! Also I just subscribed to your channel a couple days ago. Love your content and I share your passion for these cars! 77 owner. I would like to start posting videos of the stuff I have done to mine such as a t5 transmission swap! Keep up the awesome content! It's amazing to see people out there that share such a fanatical excitement these cars can bring although our wallets might not agree lol
Hey Biohazard, welcome and thanks!! I am happy to have you along for the ride. I checked out your channel and subscribed to it so I can see your 77 when you post!
On the '72 the passenger windshield wiper sits above the driver side wiper. At the factory they were adjusted so that their tips, at furthest travel, were .75" away from the windshield edge. This is probably the same for '76 models as well.
Por 15, I love AZ! Fyi, wet sand with 1000, then 2000, then 3000 and buff it. There are a lot of good cutting waxes out there and that will cure the orange peel!
So what happened with your suspicion at 5:10 about prev. owner having a leak and that's why they put silicone all over that area... Did you check that area out for water leak? Did you end up fixing it? If so how? And even better, did you video it? :) thanks for these videos, they really help.
You can buy a plastic cover you can put over that area like the bumper cars. They come in black so you have to paint them. Any corvette store should have them for $55. I'm getting ready to do mine to.
Is that black stuff that looks like melted plastic the fiberglass resin? I’ve seen that stuff on a few corvettes and wonder what it was. I just bought a 76 and looking forward to the journey.
My 77 sat outside in a field in NY for 15 yrs, you can only imagine the job ahead of me... How the bird cage is still solid, blows my mind...
Looks really nice great job!
Great job did the same thing and added a windshield wiper cover that gives it a cleaner look 👍

Another awesome video!! You're great!
Thank you so much, Rea!
The final result of your project looks really good!! Thanks for the video.
Thank you, Ron!
Great job. I was just looking to do mine on the 79'. You've motivated and given me tip. Thanks and subscribed
Fantastic job! Final result is great! Gave me some idea for my 76’ thanks!
Awesome, Cellugo! And thank you!

I can't stand the tar. On my 79 it's looks they went crazy with it and sprayed it on everything.... Been wanting to clean it up.
Looking to get a c3 myself soon here , keep the videos coming and that sneak preview of that cj5 ....oh my ! 😎 ♥️
Nice work, looks excellent. Im about to do the same jobb, thanks for the tech tips.
Awesome! Thanks, Hans
Great job gonna do that myself...it's amazing how such a work of art can look like that was designed by a 5 year old . especially the chicken wire..
Haha! Yeah, that's true. You'd think they would have designed a really sweet chromed metal plate to go in there or something.
Por-15 is a excellent sealer for that. It come in a quart, spray and a tube of sealer. Amazon is the best place to buy. Por- 15 is a rust encapsulater.
that small vacuum tube goes to the fresh air door vacuum pod located behind the metal plate
I wonder if it would be okay to paint in there with bed liner?
Hey yeah, I think so!
@@RestorationObsession I think it would help protect and seal better and probably make it easier to clean.

@@RestorationObsession Much appreciated :)
I would love to see a video on your t5 swap. Been contemplating a 5 speed swap for a while.

Looks Great nice job and video......
Thanks, Clif E!

Well I'll be dipped! It looks like I forgot to record that. No idea why. I believe I used Permatex Ultra Black RTV when I put the plate back on.
WOW!!! 😮😮😮

I have the same wire on my 82. No clue but it does go to a plate or ground on the passenger side

The screen keeps out debris
That’s your windshield wiper water supply.
Sorry I was incorrect, my bad.
