I’m having wiper switch issues, before digging too deep I will definitely check the ground as you did and go from there. Without this C3 video series I would be chasing my tail. Thanks again Tom, the gold standard of how to teach and trouble shoot. I encourage everyone to subscribe and hit that thumbs up button and make this great channel grow! It’s the least we all can do. Thank you Tom.
I have worked off and on on C3 vettes..... You by far are one of the best teachers and mentors for this Model I have seen. THANK YOU for this. You have a fan for life.
I am rebuilding my 72 coupe from ground up, completely rewiring the car using an aftermarket system. American auto wire highway 22 I'm also relocating the fuse box in the compartment behind the seats so that means that all the wiring had to be built. And on top of that, I am eliminating the vacuum system and replacing it with electric motors. Headlights doors motors are done and working fine but I struggled a bit with the wiper system. Yeah I know, self inflicting pain LOL. Tom you have no idea how much this video helped me. Thanks a lot SIr.
Hi 😊! GREAT TEACHER ! I need to know about the spray washer pump for the Light and the shield. I'm from France and i'm very happy to find your channel to restor a C3 1969. Thank you for helping us mister !
Hello thanks for watching, I eliminated the lights sprayers, And I am converting the windshield washer to electric there will be an episode on that soon.
You are the greatest - Love your intensity and your trouble shooting approach is layman simply GREAT!. My 71 has every problem you went over she sat for over 30 years if I die it will be a barn find .
Hi the video was every good I am 74 year old and have been a licensed machanic all mylife and the only thing I would change is MENTION THE FUSE AT THESTART GTEAR WORK
100% Fantastic video. This guy is awesome. He explains everything so even a "novice" like myself can understand what is going on. Thank you and I did subscribe and give you a thumbs up.
Great video, but if I started troubleshooting, I would go with what I deem to be the easiest check or the wiper fuse. I was working on my wipers and found a bad fuse today. I'll swap it tomorrow to see if that is the fix... if not, your steps have helped me a bunch.
Hey Tom, I agree with everyone here....you are one of the best I've seen so far (and I've seen A LOT) when it comes to teaching/explaining. I am NOT a mechanic; not even close and you've helped me tremendously with my 69 wipers. FYI, it wasn't anything electrical....once I dug into it, the bolt/bushing for the actuator wiggled lose and was never connecting the power, so need to just hook that part up once I get brave enough to start taking the door off so I can get to it. I'm learning.....and your videos are incredibly helpful. Thanks again....I am super surprised, with the great C3 following out there, that you don't have 10x's the followers you do...it's just a matter of time I suppose. Keep up the great work.
Subscribed! Fantastic job making these videos on the Vette! I'm on vacation and just binge watched all 10 videos! Can't wait for the next one. Started working on my 73 Vette 30 years ago, lost interest and it sat 20 years until last summer when I got back into it. I'm doing a frame off restoration. I learned a lot from your videos and they will be very helpful when I start reassembly. Keep up the great work!
I've owned a 1969 427/435 since 1970. Just had a new wiper motor installed and everything was working fine. All of a sudden my windshield WASHER comes on when I use my wipers in slow or fast speed. The washer won't go off until I return the switch to the OFF POSITION. Can the problem be the switch itself? Most people are saying it's the pump wheel that goes around and then locks into place. That is all new but the switch is 52 years old. I've ordered a new switch just because the original is so old. Any guesses?? Great job on all your videos. Thanks for any advice you can provide.
Hi Tom, your tutorials are extremely helpful. I so appreciate all your knowledge and expertise. Making great progress on my 72 find thanks to you ...all the best, Ike
Wipers weren't working. Watched this video, cleaned the corrosion off of the ground connector. Everything works now. Get a wire brush before you buy a new motor.
I just started watching your videos since I pulled my vette out of storage after years, super helpful. Question about this video, where did you find the small black wiper motor cover for a 1969 when not putting back the sprayer?!? I can’t find one anywhere. If you see this, thanks.
I have a 69 and i put a new ground for the wiper and blower before i found this video but the weird thing is the wire that is supposed to be the ground for them has power to it so it has +12v on it
Also I have an issue where the circuit with the clock and Courtesy lights have a dead short but doesn't blow the fuse and drains the battery when I do a Continuity test from a positive on that circuit to Ground it has continuity
Hey great videos, but on my 1971 the problem is that when I switch on the wipers nothing happens. Wiper door does not open, but when I use the override switch under the steering column to open the wiper door it opens obviously and the wipers work. It’ s a new switch along with new relays and vacuum lines. Am I missing something? Thanks Frank Toronto
Thanks tom, if not for folks like you the rest of us would really struggle and do thing wrong. Everything went as you described. I have one curious problem. I only get one speed (low). If I remove the green wire I only get high speed, and it wont park. Any thoughts?
Did you ever do a video on repairing the windshield washer pump? I don't see one listed. Mine does not work. I see a kit listed at Eckler's. Thanks. Paul
Great vid as always Tom! Quick question, which way do the wipers go? What I mean is, which wiper sits at the bottom? Is it the driver side or passenger side?
I’ll check when I get home, one of them presses a vacuum relay when it’s all the way down, that’s what controls the door to open and close, I believe the passenger side is at the bottom but I’ll double check when I get home. Next video vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door
Hello, maybe you can help me, I redid the whole wiper system but one of the wipers does not fit enough to activate the flap closing piston. Would you have any advice for me?
Great video, i installed a new wiper motor on my 81 and it worked fine for one day and all of a sudden they wont park themselves...Do you have any suggestions Tom ?
on the 68 C3 with the single spade connect override switch to bypass the switch do you just run a wire from a good ground to the female connector on the wire to bypass the bad switch? for testing?
Tom... this may sound like a stupid question, but here it is anyway.. My son has a '71 Corvette (just purchased) and the three wires going to the wiper motor (harness) has 2 hots and a ground. Is this right? The "blue" wire is a hot wire and by your video, should be a ground. I did test the new wiper motor just as you had shown and it works... even works on the car if I am using jumper wires. But when I connect the harness, nothing. The washer works when I press the switch but nothing from the motor. I have not taken the dash apart to see if the connection on the switch is in the correct position. Can you give me some advice? I appreciate it.
I’m restoring a 81 that has been parked since 2003, it’s in rough shape, and so far I’ve put a new Blueprint 383 engine, rebuild all the calibers, replaced the rotors, and brake hoses, wiper motor, new gas tank, replaced trailing arm, strut rod and spring shackle bushings.all half shaft ujoints,, now starting on the interior, so I’m following you with any helpful information i can get. Thanks
Hey Tom, I see your wiper door stainless bezel is polished metal. I've seen other cars are painted body color. Does that change per year of the car? Any idea what 1968 should be?
You have to click on the description part of the video, I think it’s like a little Upside down V on the side. If you’re on a computer you have to go to the bottom of the screen I believe. Let me know if you can’t figure it out
Right beside the Title on the video there’s a little upside down V, not by the advertisement but by the title you just click on that for more information
Thank you so much ! My problem was the dash switch not being grounded. I wouldn’t have figured it without this video….
