That's a great recipe on a cold day out there! Jambalaya is a great meal for a cold outdoor meal. The outdoor kitchen series is a great editing to the channel! Thanks for sharing Matt! Enjoy!
Thank you so much for submitting it Thomas! I appreciate you following us and supporting! I hope you will receive some new cooking gear soon and stick with us for more fun cooking in the great outdoors! Blessings to you and yours my friend!
The black hat bush knife to me, will be the only thing that will make this meal finer. I anxiouslly await it's arrival as I have many of your recipes in mind. :)
Matt, there is no such thing as too much onion and garlic, anyway that Jambalaya looked amazing, thank God we don't have smell a vision. Take care, stay Healthy and God bless you and your Family always.
I like this recipe. But I ask, how can I reduce this recipe for day hiking/kayaking purposes for two people. I dont want to carry the big stove and big pots on a day hike. Thanks for sharing.
Hello from Oklahoma! Interesting video. Boy the days of the self reliance outfitters simple man, affordable bushcraft videos are long gone. Now we see hi tech radio stuff cooking on a tailgate, $150 tents, building an expensive jeep rig. MY, MY. I remember a time when it was so easy to go outdoors just use stuff you already had, heck even change a 12ga. into a muzzleloader. AH, The good old days.....
Matt that looks great i will be adding it to my my camp cookbook enjoying this series of videos thanks. Asyou know I am a steak and potatoes man but that looks good.
Zatarain's actually makes a jambalaya box meal which I eat often...but I also make about the same meal at home with the red beans and rice or black beans and rice boxes. It's not camping without beans! My adjustments would be some bell pepper and a can of Rotel diced tomatoes and chilies. Winning recipe looked great though! BTW...love the hoodie...I have one and it's my new favorite. :)
you need the holy trinity of veggies: onion, celery, green pepper. a little cayenne pepper with those red flakes :) Looks delicious :) oh I think it's rain not ran in Zatarains. :)
My favorite is too simple to be called a recipe: "corn willy hash" from WWI which is easy and filling. Boil a spud, or microwave it for 5-6 minutes in one of those microwave potato cooking bags, and bring it along. Oil up your skillet- I used a pie tin, more affordable!- cubed the spud, cubed a can of corned beef, which the soldiers called corned Willy. The identity of Willy changed with each soldier spinning the yarn! Put it on, fry it up good till you get a bit of crust on the bottom, pepper it up, and eat! You can add a fried egg or anything. Some soldiers had too much corned willy hash- I saw a WWII Bill Maudlin cartoon of a disgusted soldier who'd found that *both* local mess halls were serving it!- but I found it delicious and hearty!
OH My That's a flavor packed meal. Definitely a base camp meal where a person can unwind and savor the afterglow of good hot, tasty food. Matt, thanks for bringing this new recipe to our collection of camp cooking. Looking forward to the next episode.
@@blackhatbushcraft I have 3 or 4 I'll send you. They make me very popular at camp. In fact I get invites every year to people's deer camps. They just want me to cook for them hahaha. I know how they operate 😅🤣😂
I am not sure on that Rod, I just follow the original recipes as closely as possible when they are submitted. I will have to see if we have that Jambalaya mix in my local store, I don't recall seeing it.
Knorr beans? Seriously? How generic can you get? Zatarain’s is ok. Blue Runner is the truth. WAIT! You’re making jambalaya? Why on earth are you adding beans?
Good recipe but such a joke as in buschcraft cooking. Just cook it in your kitchen. This in my opinion. Does not fit the brand at all. Next he will have a microwave hooked up to a power bank. 🤦🏼♂️
I appreciate your opinion Ty however, one of he goals with this series is to show the versatility of our outdoor cooking gear. I don't always light a fire and cook in a a primitive manner. While that is by far my favorite way to do things, Sometimes time or our conditions don't allow for it. Sometimes there will be a alcohol stove or a burner style stove. Sometimes the rocket stove like I used before and sometimes a camp stove such as this. There are a lot of folks who follow us who are not into bushcraft per se but camping, "glamping" and overlanding, etc. The beauty of the brand in my opinion is our cooking gear can suit all of these groups needs when it comes to cooking outdoors. I appreciate you tuning in and sharing your thoughts.

I love when you offer me a bite! Your Mama taught you well. Love these videos good job Matt!
Jambalaya is definitely one of my favorite meals whether at home or in camp!
Man no sammich's for you, the only thing missing is some corn bread, thx for the vid.
Hey Matt I haven't noticed have you done a video of your possibles pouch?? Always enjoy camp cooking!!😁✌️💚
Matt that recipe looked so good it almost seems like cheating to eat that well in camp!
Yumm! 'Nuff said! :>)
I always enjoy making a cabbage soup witch I call hobo soup it's cabbage carrots onions potatoes corn and sausage of your choice

I like to use Walla Walla sweet onions.
Man! I was just thinking I needed to cook up a pot of jambalaya, great as always Matt my friend 🤠
This looks awesome, do you have these recipes where they can be downloaded…
I go one step further with my cheat - I use Zatarain's Jambalaya mix instead of the beans and rice mix.
Just my two cents, but you probably should have added the shrimp last. Imo
Count me in. Where do we send the recipe? I have a few that you want to try. You just don't know it yet LOL
Sounds good! Send them to sroutfitters.net and they will get them into the data bank!

Do u have a cook book
Why beans and rice and not just use Z's Jambalaya mix?
I am not sure on that Rod, I just follow the original recipes as closely as possible when they are submitted. I will have to see if we have that Jambalaya mix in my local store, I don't recall seeing it.
How does one go about submitting a recipe to you?
Send it to recipe@sroutfitters.net
I do not like spicy!!!
No, no, no, no, no! Saute the sausage, first. This releases the fat. Then add onion, until translucent. Then the shrimp and garlic.
Knorr beans? Seriously? How generic can you get?
Zatarain’s is ok.
Blue Runner is the truth.
WAIT! You’re making jambalaya? Why on earth are you adding beans?
