Congratulations on your courageous steps. I did it in 2016, I loved my job and was good at it but the work environment left me depleted at the weekends, I was always upset, and I said enough. I do not want to live a life where I’m in the shower thinking about my evil boss, the toxic environment, and dreading what will happen today. So if I can’t wash my hair in peace, I think it’s time to leave because it was all consuming all of the time.
I made the decision to leave a toxic work environment about a year and a half ago. Best decision ever.

I know how you feel. I left a toxic work environment too. Lots of bullying. It’s so awfully that adults need to be reminded of how to be an a kind adult. 😢

Thank you for the encouragement. It is even a little scarier to me because of the Covid situation. It means interviewing virtually and not meeting face-to-face. Will I really be able to know if a company is a good fit if I do not meet my colleagues face-to-face beforehand?

I left my job after 13 years and I’m excited about a new opportunity! The sense of freedom is wonderful and I stayed there far too long, especially for how I was treated.

I’m 36 and I’m so happy to have heard your story. Your advice is so valuable to others,
more than you may know. It’s realistic advice and not some sugar coated instagram lifestyle. I worked in a corporate setting than took some time off. Ended up volunteering in a secondhand shop and now on their books part time and I have never been happier! Eventually, I will return to full time work again. I stayed because of financial reasons but when the toxicity was unbearable, I made the leap. Never looked back and life has been a blessing than a struggle.

I can relate to this. When you work in a place for so long it can feel like home and branching outside of that can be scary as we do not know what is waiting for us elsewhere. But if this pandemic has taught me one thing, it’s to be brave.

I took the step like yours . 9 years stucked previous workplace it was very toxic. I'm just glad I have the guts and see the bigger picture🎉 Unemployed for a month then been working two months now with my new boss ..I only work 4 hours a day and I'm so grateful that i have flexibility time with my work. I'm so much happier now ❤❤❤❤

I was at my previous job for 18 years. There were many kind people there, but I was time to go! I left in 2018 and I'm very happy with my decision.

Earlier this year, I leaved an organisation that I served for about 9 years and 1/2.. and that job was the most secure job (public service) .Truthfully,i was really nerve wrecking and anxious but I knew I need to do this for my own future,career pathway and of course, mental health.. Im glad I did despite the worries from my parents, Im much happier and focus in my current job and also resetting the mindful shopping in me.. 🥰🥰
