    I find keeping a list and having an understanding the retail sales cycle essential for being an aware consumer. There is always going to be a sale or source for getting something at less than full retail. Also be mindful of holidays, semiannual clearance turnover and the best time to get certain items. Also be wary of just paying for a name. Most people are not collectors with intention. They're just average citizens duped into buying an image.

    It's no secret that drugstore skincare products are every bit as effective as branded ones....the list of ingredients used in both are often identical. When you pay premium prices for branded products, your money is helping to subsidise their marketing/branding/promotional costs

    I like how you are honest and open about making mistakes and how you have learned from them :) the process of becoming more minimal and conscious is not always linear

    Hello Eileen. These are very helpful tips. I imagine you invested in your luxury items when you had your career. You are very fortunate to have a husband that provides you with the means to still make more mindful purchases. My husband and I use our credit cards for airline miles, but we do pay the bill each month. We are no longer in debt. We even paid off our house two years ago. I practically replaced my whole wardrobe after I retired almost two years ago. I consider myself very sensible with my purchases (I don't buy designer luxury items). I buy quality natural fabric items and I hardly ever pay full retail price unless I truly want something that I know will sell out. I just need to stop making purchases. I'm working on it. Thanks for all your inspiration.

    Excellent video with lots of good information. I agree with you on the using credit cards to purchase most things completely, we've gotten a lot of freebies ranging from gift cards to free flights just from using our credit cards. I go in every two weeks (sometimes more if we've been using them a lot) and pay them off so we don't end up with a huge shocking balance at the end of the billing cycle. I'm sure my credit card companies hate me since they never make a penny of interest off me LOL!

    I love listening your videos ❤. I don’t do things the same way of you but I have learned so much applying some of your concepts to my lifestyle. I really don’t care about luxury brands but I put my money on luxury treatments and healthcare. I rather have a beautiful skin than a luxury handbag. All the things you teach can be applied to different lifestyles. Thank you!! Keep the good work 🤗

    Hi Eileen, I love the content of this video. Your thoughts and suggestions are very helpful especially when we are in the holiday season with all of the sales going on. I love the idea of a wish list. It certainly does keep me focused. One thing that has been on my mind for quite some time is that it amazes me at how some influencers manage to have huge “hauls” almost weekly. I cannot relate to that amount of spending and honestly when is enough, enough? Even if they are extremely wealthy, I simply don’t understand why a person needs to purchase so many items. Do you have any thoughts about that.

    I advise ppl careful using credit cards unless u use it wisely otherwise interest rates will be high and plus hidden fees.if possible use only debit card.

    Yeah, great. Ditch cash, become completely controllable by the powers-that-ought-not-be and help them usher in CBDCs. 🤦‍♀️

    • @ColourfulNoir
      @ColourfulNoir  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I believe you can use credit cards without being controlled by them. I personally have enjoyed many benefits from using credit cards (but I make sure to clear the bills every month). I think self control applies in many life situations. The invention of lifts means people don't have to use the stairs, but they don't take away the option-- we choose not to use the stairs 🙈

    • @bellalugosi1042
      @bellalugosi1042 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ColourfulNoir That's not my point. Cash is the only form of money / currency that cannot be controlled. And CBDCs will be a system of total enslavement. Sorry to burst your bubble, but you may want to look into it. Or end up like the people in China. 🤷‍♀️

    • @ColourfulNoir
      @ColourfulNoir  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the suggestion, I'll make sure to look into it seeing I'm quite intrigued by the topic of money. A while ago I read a book by Saifedean Ammous on the idea of alternatives to central banking, which then led me to investing in some cyptocurrency 😃 To me, cash is really just an extension of the central banking, it's printed by them after all, and they get to decide on how much to print, regardless of the level of inflation etc. I recently got little gift from a Zimbabwean friend-- it's a note of one billion Zimbabwean dollars, which is now officially worth nothing. So I guess when it comes to money, no one really has complete control over anything.

    • @bellalugosi1042
      @bellalugosi1042 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ColourfulNoir Yes, they print the currency, but once you have it in your pocket, they can't track you or control how, when and where you spend it, or PREVENT you from spending it (e.g. because of your low social credit score, etc.) I'm sure you already know Mike Maloney's brilliant documentary series "Hidden Secrets of Money"?! After you've grasped that you should start looking into CBDCs, 15-minute-cities, and the nefarious plans of the WEF and the WHO. Otherwise all your planning and putting money back will have been for naught.

      @ColourfulNoir  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1
