Uve said the right word "character". Just like every single one of them they are characters just actors. It's so sad that people fall in love with these people when they are nothing like the real people in the Bible. like one of the main directors said 99% is made up! People feel in love with the Jesus in the show played by what's his name. It's not the true Jesus. It's the new age Jesus. So incredibly sad!

It’s has such an impact because it’s REAL and it humanizes Jesus in such a way that I had never previously grasped. Obviously, he is fully human and fully God, but I had never fully grasped what that really meant. I pray that everyone would watch the Chosen and open themselves up to a relationship with Jesus!😊

He nailed his character with perfection! So impressed. He’s a beautiful soul and his talent is absolutely phenomenal. Our youngest has autism and after working hard with her and all the specialists, SHE earned a full academic scholarship to Uni and graduated this past May. We prayed every day for her life to be easier. Life is tough, imagine waking up every morning struggling with the simplest of tasks. God answered our prayers! Alleluia 🙏💚

I used to be almost nonverbal, not in the strict sense of not being able to speak, but in the sense of a major speech impediment mixed with Asperger's. The speech impediment is gone, but I still don't think like other people do, so I still understand a lack of communication. I can't claim I'll remember to pray for you and your son, but here's one prayer. And as someone whose parents raised me with as much love and wisdom as they did my siblings, I can at least offer some encouragement in that God will help you even when your son just doesn't make sense to you. (And as a teenager, I still don't know what to do if he thinks you don't understand him when you do. Just pray. If he's not a teen yet, when he is, God's the only one getting through to him. We are stupid at these ages.)

Not "stupid" but "special", "unique", " a mystery". We forget that when God created man He created a massive genetic pool with infinite possibilities. Think of yourself as standing in front of Jesus, as I do, and he reaches out to you with infinite love and understanding. He is with you and everyone who looks to him.

Im just watching the series very attentively as part of my way to go back to love Jesus with all my heart again. I can't thank you enough for this great performance! Everyone's acting makes me really realize how imperfect all of the disciples really were and how Jesus came to their lives just on time to rescue them from their chaotic, miserable lives that were away from God. A real encounter with Jesus is what all of us need, and such a portrait of that in this show is soul refreshing. May God bless you all!

He is my favorite character in the series. The book of Mathew is as well my favorite gospel book. In a red letter Bible, it has the most amount of red lettering compared to the other 3 books, so he really paid attention to the words Jesus spoke and recorded them in much detail. Thank you Dallas for all your hard work.

It’s called autism, the term Asperger‘s Is no longer used by doctors because the term Asperger’s was coined by an ablest Nazi, who gas chambered autistic people and thought that only autistic people who deserved to live were genius autistic people who are so used to people being ableist to them that they act/behave in a way that makes people think they do not have autism.

As soon as I saw Mathew in the series I identified him with my son who has Asperger. I love hi. To pieces and once in a while I have to steal a hug from him because he has a hard time showing his feelings.

I was diagnosed when I was 6 with high functioning Aspergers. There is nothing to shame actors for who play characters like us in an accurate and non-degrading way! Thank you Patel!
His depiction of Matthew is heartwarming. It has made me read this Gospel in such a different way. I love the way The Chosen has given personalities to the apostles. It helps bring scripture to life which helps me understand better.

I Agree!! All the Actors Of The Chosen Has Brought Jesus and The Apostles To Life In A Way That We Have Never Seen. Their Human Struggles And What The Love Of Jesus Taught Them, And How They Kept Leading People To Christ, Even After Christ Was Crucified And Raised Back From Death, And Ascended To Heaven. They Knew He Was Always With Them! It's Wonderful To See A Series About Jesus and His Disciples, and not just a 2 hour movie. Bless These Actors For Bringing The Characters To Life To Us! My favorite seen with Jesus so far was when Jesus holds Nicodemus in his arms and comforts him. I could feel that love❤and hug through the film.
May God continue to bring these actors closer to him in every way. May they have an Holy Encounter with the Lord through their willingness to portray these Great men of God in film. To God be all the glory.

If You've had contact, with THOSE with Autism, it's been My experience, that They're not comfortable, being hugged/touched, except by a few SELECT, TRUSTED, LOVED ONES. I don't know, if Those ON THE SPECTRUM, have the same reaction.
I've known a few, AMAZING PEOPLE, WHO have AUTISM...and They could TEACH the WORLD, so much, as long as the WORLD, accepts BOTH, Their STRENGTHS, as well as Their WEAKNESSES.

Yeah but that Matthew will be nothing like this. Matthew wasn’t really on the spectrum. He was just a tax collector that turned to Jesus. He could’ve been but they wouldn’t hire him as a tax collector if he was.

I too agree, I'm sure this is not an easy part to play so perfectly but Mr Patel has done a wonderful job and I love his, innocence, his countless hours of writing the book of Matthew, his expressions, and his devotedness to Jesus, his Lord. This young man is a wonderful actor!
I have an ADHD, little bit autistic, not sure. But the character of Matthew in The Chosen inspires me. It gives me strength as a parent.
Mathew is my favorite disciple on the show. The representation of a man that follows the rules of nature that, watched a man that defied them. Mathew still maintain his composure . To the normies disciples it just took one miracle. Mathew watched while Jesus did TWO miracles. Still, he was confused. His world was crumbling down. He didn’t dare to get close to Jesus…he was not worth it, he was a tax collector…his high understanding of logic, made him accepted that, it was impossible to be accepted by the MESSIAH. Nobody bother to teach Mathews’ character Torah ….He didn’t know the stories the others knew by memory…but, he had a better memory than ALL of them, more scholarly , probably the brightest. The writing is so complete, the crafting of the possibility of Mathew being on the spectrum is so real and very credible. And the beauty of the irony of the Praetor pushing him to follow Peter … that was the small step that change Mathew. GOD uses the good and the (bad) to get us closer to him.

I have a question that may or may not seem strange, I'm not sure. I work for a family that's from India & they're definitely Hindu, but not as devout as others I've worked for so it took me a while to even figure it out. I worked for/with a lot of Hindu families, usually during religious celebrations & such years ago, but I still don't know a lot about their religion & I have absolutely no clue how to approach them with Christ.
Living in India & I'm assuming being a Christian yourself (?), do you have any tips? I live in the US & I struggle with unbelieving Americans, but it's a little easier since I know the culture as my own. I'm just not sure how with other cultures, specifically those that do have a religion they follow that's so different from mine.

I can't say enough about this character. Watching him as he grows, and comes into more of the blessing of being a child of God is so inspiring. It makes one stop and realize, patience is necessary, because everyone has a struggle. Like sin, no single struggle is worse than another's struggle. They are all real, all urgent, and all can be overcome. Love is part of the medicine that help people who struggle. Love, accept, admit, grow. Thank you for Matthew. What a deep spiritual lesson Matthew teaches us. I believe you were destined to play this role. I have an autistic grandson, and I can see him in this character. So encouraging Being a Patel, and believing in Jesus makes me sooo happy. Praise God

@@connieb.6061 autism isn’t something that needs to be healed, it’s not any type of illness, it is a neurotype and often a disability.
I don't have any spectrum labels but my heart breaks every time with Matthew because I know what the outside feels like in other ways. His heart, the confusions, pain, even the happy moments just make me cry every time. Love how they do Matthew & the fact that he's able to reach so many in this role. (Two of my favorite little buddies in life are on extreme ends of the spectrum too.)

Four of our family just saw the season 3 episodes 1 & 2 in the theater this evening. Tremendous! The scene of Matthew going to reconcile with his parents was one of the most moving for all of us. You portrayed a great biblical example of humility and obedience to Christ, even in deeply painful close relationships. What a joy to see the portrayal of the parents also being receptive to Christ’s message, and also responding in humility and obedience! Wow! Truly revolutionary!! Glory to God!

Matthew has always been my favorite, and Paras' performance is so incredible. I love his deep feelings which he so naturally portrays. I pay attention even more to Matthew's gospels in church! This series has been life changing for me and i truly hope the actors realize the mark they are leaving in our world. What a privilege for them, but at the same time i imagine it can become a burden of concern that they "do right" by Jesus. Well, guys and ladies, you are doing it! Well done!! God bless!

I wish there were more actors playing parts like this to help others see the need for kindness to others!
