The stones in the background behind Tokk are the hints. The length of the stones correspond to the length of each of the three glowing Flower Bells hanging on the big tree to the right of Tokk. The code of the Stones translates into 1233121, to open up the way to the underworld. To open the door to the far right to reach the Ability Tree, REVERSE the code to 1213321 and the door will open to let you get to the Tree. To play the notes on the Flower Bells: use the Boost jump on the flower on the ground, then Dash to the left and start Bashing on Flower Bell #1, then Bash onto Flower Bell #2, etc...
For those that're like me and might find it easier memorize it this way the two sequences are: left, mid, right, right, left, mid, left left, mid, left, right, right, mid, left PS: If you have trouble staying in the air or just don't want to risk falling all the way down do the 2nd sequence first.
Even after watching the video and reading the comment I messed up the sequence many time and I think game just took pity on me and opened the path for me.
It is less than optimal game design. For the whole game up to this point, the trees or stones or other elements in background is never part of the game play, it is hard for people to made that connection.
@@dickiewongtk Tokk literally says that he can't read the stone tablets, so obviously you would look at the stone pillars on the background and make the connection that the pillars have something to do with this puzzle.

I have to say this was the most frustrating puzzle for me. The only reason I figured out the side door was because I literally got so mad after days of returning to this area, I just constantly jumped from bell to bell randomly while cursing about how frustrated I was lol. It then opened, I immediately TH-camd how to open the bottom door, because I knew at that moment there was no way I’d figure that out.

I wasn't paying attention to the background and just started going through the lights in some random order (I thought you had to hit three of them in a certain order without touching the ground). So when the door opened, I was like: "Oh, that's cool! But what about the pit below me?"
Part of me feels bad about not figuring this out on my own, but realistically speaking, I went through the midnight burrows, got the tablet, brought it back to the bird guy, read exactly what he said about it being backwards without putting any of it together, and moved on to try to find an ability that would help me get to that tree. Looking at it as a whole, I never would have been able to figure this out on my own, so I feel less bad. XD

I agree. One hint I did get, was that the middle flower glows and makes a sound at the last jump, which turns out to be the left flower. So if you jump to the wrong flower at the end you have to start over.
There is a picture on the background of the Tokk which says the puzzle's anwers. When you look those stones you'll understand the answer of the puzzle. The key is the lenghts of the stones...
nothing to feel stupid about, the game no matter how cool it looks, has some serious drawbacks as the way to finding "where the fuck" you have to go next or what to do next. very shitty hints. 2ndly this puzzle was very retarded in my opinion, not only did it not make sense, it was just frustrating.
I am so confuse Before I watching your wideo, I was notice that pillars are in differents sizes and this flowers? are also in diffrent height, so when I understand that I can bash between them, i find that solution to this puzzle is easy and make the same way as you did, but even repeat it 3/4 times, even with stading on the ground, I could not solve this puzzle and after repeat that after watching a little your wideo, the gate open. After all, thank you for this wideo - this make me sure, that I was right thinking about this puzzle
My goodness I only saw high and low stones, I didn’t see there were three heights! 😂 I figured the tune would somewhat match the melody for the area and after a good while of trying to sound out the background music I knew I was doomed 🤣

I came here because I accidentally did it on the first try by randomly bashing on the flowers but I died when I was down there, then it spawned me back up with the path blocked again, and I had no idea what I did. I spent hours bashing on those flowers trying to figure out in what order I did it before.

Fascinating, all things you cited here as facts were wrong. The pillars symbolize the notes you have to chime. Even though it's just 3 different notes, if you have a problem telling the low, mid, and high one apart, the bells are hanging in positions symbolizing the notes as well. Trying to input the notes from either side will open up one of the two secret areas, at which point Tokk will hint at there being 2 solutions.

Same. Figuring out how to activate the bells was easy for me. I just couldn’t figure out the code. For some reason, thought I had to get an npc to decipher the code. The way that bird talks just threw me off big time. If someone had just told me “it isn’t related to npc’s and all u need is in that room,” then I would have gotten it. Nasty games the mind can play if u get stuck on one expected solution

The bells hang above you matching the height of those stones. You've been bashing bell flowers all throughout your playthrough... Connect the two dots together and voila! Honestly if you look up any secrets from a game called Celeste, _those_ are cryptic as fawk!
