- People across the country are posting videos of themselves smoking marijuana and getting behind the wheel. Every state has a legal limit on how much alcohol you can drink and drive. However, that’s not the case in relation to marijuana. Some states do, while other states don’t. Mary and Craig Kazmark say their daughter would still be alive if not for her boyfriend, Josh Daugherty. He tested positive for marijuana the night he swerved into oncoming traffic, crashing their car at 70 miles per hour. Inside Edition’s Lisa Guerrero has more.

I know someone who only did 30 days for killing a teenage girl. He was out there on his prescription meds but since he was so badly injured paramedics gave him medication and couldn’t prove he was over the limit before crashing.

@@winstonleeman8739this is definitely the truth. Our tolerance is much higher than the average person. An eighth for us last a couple days but for some it lasts weeks. Some people can only take a hit and be high for an hour . I know if I just take a rip I feel nothing lol

I didn't hear what the age was but they showed a video of her in graduation gear so I would have to assume that means that she was a legal adult and there's not anything they can do to stop *a legal adult from making her own choice to get in the car with somebody that's high/impaired.

Thc is in your system for like a month. Testing positive for it after a crash does not mean they were high at the time

@@bloodlove93 they don't. They assume if you have high numbers then you were high recently. When in reality a high THC count could just mean they take dabs in the evening. Maybe one day we will have a real time reading like BAC%; but for now it's a big gray area.

Ive smoked from 14 up until 31 got my license at 16. I have NEVER once come close to crashing while high. If anything I drive way slower. But you give me a 12 pack of corona im doing 100+ wth is wrong with these people?

A big part of the problem has to do with laws and testing as well. With alcohol everything is well defined and we have accurate methods for determining intoxication. With weed, tests can show positive weeks after intoxication making them pretty useless.

@@smorris281smoking weed doesn't stop you from functioning like alcohol does. It's not gonna do anything to your abilities to drive. Alcohol will make you unable to text on your phone your motor function will never be affected to that level
Part of the standardized questions law enforcement is supposed to ask you before administering any test is: "Do you have any physical disabilities or medical issues that will prevent you from performing properly on the tests." If a person can not perform, other testing will be administered.

Yeah its the legal part that gets ya,. I saw a guy easily 5x over the legal limit just cruising along minding his own business when some teenage girls from out of town, lost in a rental car made a left in front of dude (without yielding) on a green light.
Guys wife shows up talking about shes done, & Im like a sober person would've colided with them too it was soo stupid what them gals did🤣. Police just wrote up the accident, both cars totalled & whole scene was cleaned up in like 10 minutes. They swept road n everything in 10 mins. Like they didnt even care the guy was trashed😂
the most dangerous thing i've ever experienced while driving stoned was stopping at a green light. you also drive 35 and feel like you're going 60. basically the opposite of alcohol.

The problem with weed is the tolerance. I can take a dab and function just fine because I smoke a lot. However, when I had stopped smoking for a few years, my tolerance dropped and when I did start smoking I couldn't function at all lmfao. It took smoking for months to build that back up again. If you can't handle it, don't get behind the wheel and don't do it all with others in the car.

Lol, some people literally need medical cannabis to function, saying no one should ever drive 'high' is ridiculous. Some folks actually DO drive better 'high', if it's taken therapeutically. Like with any other medication, you should see how it effects you before driving, but simply using it at all shouldn't preclude one from driving. And laws that set limits on how much thc is in your system is absurd, since folks that need to take it medically have such a high tolerance and need to take so much more than the general population to feel even a slight effect.
