@@theoldfisherman2040 I also enjoyed the Crappie one, I never fish for crappie, but I'm going to start soon because I want to try that whole fish technique
Those little Catfish like that will spoil you. They are absolutely the best eating fish in my opinion. I rarely keep anything over a couple pounds now. The 1/2 pound to 1 pound are the best tablefare. Kind of a clean sweet meat.
This was great to see how you cleaned the small ones. I see all the folks throwing these baby catfish back wanting the big ones to filet. In my opinion, a 1 lb small catfish is the best thing in the world fried crisp with some House Autry breader. Time to head to the river. Good video!
I don't really like dealing with small catfish but after watching this, im excited about catching some more soon. Thanks for show in me how to do fem lil ones quicker!
Steve Coleman you're what we call a homeboy, meaning we're from the same place. I plan to visit broad river in a couple days. I have also subscribed. Good video man
Dang, I just threw one of these size catfish back an hour ago. I don’t even like fish but from the way he talks about these it makes me want to keep the next one.
Mr Steve you make it look so ez it's amazing what you can do with a good Sharp knife and a good skinning pliers. What's the name of your cat 🐈. YOU GOT TO LOVE IT 🐟🐟
Hey Doug, thanks for your comment. You not going to believe this, but I do not know the cats name, or who she belongs to. She shows up every day when I start cleaning fish, to get a free meal.
Steve Comalander I do love that! 💘 My Dad didn't fish. But one of my Dads friends did. His name was Wayne Bird. And Mr. Bird took my brother Bart and I fishing or hunting almost every Saturday. He was like a second Father to us. We loved that man!😀
Good info Steve. I think you should have a big fry and invite all your subscribers. 😊😊😊😊 I'm still praying the Governor will get the ball rolling on the plant closing there... P. S. Gotta love your hat...
Hey Mike, speaking of the hat, It' almost football season, go Gamecocks. You gotta love foot ball season. It's the next best thing to fishing. Let me say that a little different, here is the order, starting at the top. Ms Debrah, fishing then football, just wanted to make myself clear because Ms Debrah might read this, the old fisherman don't need to be getting himself in any trouble with Ms Debrah. P.S.trying to think positive about the plant situation.
I've never seen it done like this! Interesting and genius! I hated seeing the live ones in the background, though. At least humanely kill them. Otherwise it's great!
Notice the "live" one didn't bleed at all when the tail was cut? That's because none of them were actually alive. That was just reflexes. They'll even move a little after you freeze and thaw them, if they're fresh enough. Just like frog legs kicking in the pan
@@theoldfisherman2040 Oh wow, that's interesting. I never knew that. Well I did get a few tips from the video. And yes, I feel bad for the catfish, but I still eat them. Those are some tasty lil things when they're all seasoned, breaded & fried up. Thanks.
That looks like a pretty good method to clean them cats, the only thing I see you done wrong was you cut the tail off I love catfish tails they are like tater chops accept better. Good video though.
Its me again cut all around bottom of it's neck cut top fin out run your knife barely under the skin to it's tail peeling one side like that is butter I'm sure you know your awesome God. Bless America
@@theoldfisherman2040 true they stay alive so long out of water in fact i bled one the other day and it was still alive when i got home it boggles the mind
Would be better if the fish was dead before you started skinning it! My God! One of those you skinned & cut the fins off of was still moving when you set it aside!! Not good! Try bleeding them out after you catch them. That’s much more humane. Otherwise, not a bad video on cleaning them.
I know this is an old video, but it is hands down the best teaching video when it comes to cleaning smaller catfish
Glad you enjoyed it and as always thanks for watching The old Fisherman Loving Life Videos.
