R50 Pathfinder|Infiniti QX4 rear Differential service the easy way!

- Hi, guys in today's video I will show you how to complete the rear Differential service on your R50 Pathfinder|Infiniti QX4 the easy way!
Tools needed for this job: 1/2in Breaker Bar, 1/2in Ratchet, a 1/2in Extension, Flathead screwdriver, 80W90 gear oil that contains a Limited Slip Additive (3 1/2 Quarts to be exact)a fluid transfer pump, Oil drain pan, Brakes Parts Cleaner, a few shop rags and a piece of cardboard to catch any spills that might occur. Oh and let's not forget a pair of safety glasses!
Please consult your owner's manual for the correct fluid for your particular application!

I have a 1997 4wd Pathfinder 3.3 auto, I think it is the SE edition. It has the factory spare tire rack on the back. I just went out to check the differential today after watching this and it has an orange sticker that says LSD oil only. It has 150k miles and still runs strong. Had the timing belt changed at 90k and the distributer at 150 k. Still runs great.. Never been driven very hard as far as I know. i drove the hell out of my last 87 Pathfinder V6 and it never failed. Pulled a bass boat far beyond where there were any roads. Loved it.
If this little truck has LSD, I want to take good care of it. If this has a functional limited slip I never noticed. It seems go thru everything, Never a problem with snow mud etc. it just does it.
After this, I need to do my differentials and transfer case. The transmission was done as well as clutch.
It’s past 250k and the longest kept suv I ever had.
@Performance And Pain Management, it's a very simple service just drain and fill. Perform this service every 30 thousand miles and you are good to go. 250k is nothing for this Beast. I think you've got 100's more left. My R50 currently has 364,413 miles on the clock. Also, a 5 Speed manual, these R50's are very rare.

How can you tell if it has a LSD? I have a 2004 SE auto trans 4x4
@Johnny Wood, most Automatic SE R50 Pathfinder 4X4 has an LSD. All SE 5Speed MT R50's came with an LSD Standerd. With the LE package, you had an option to have an LSD. The easiest way to tell is to look for an orange sticker on the rear differential that says use only LSD fluid. If this sticker is not present on the rear differential you likely don't have an LSD.
@@TheCamperDanFiles great info thanks. Just recently picked up a 99 SE with the 5 speed manual and the pumpkin has those stickers on it but they are too faded to read. Figured they were there to indicate it was a LSD.

My 04 SE deluxe was originally open diffs. I have since upgraded it to the 4.6, put a lokka in the front and swapped the 3rd member to a LSD off a 2001 xterra. Totally worth the conversion and it was CHEAP. I recently posted a video on mine if you wanna check it on my TH-cam page.

guess i got lucky with mine as it has a lsd in a 2000 se auto trans(it needs a service badly as i abuse it to hell)
