RC ERA C190, C189, C187, C186 and C123 - Gyro calibration and level hover setup methods

  • In this short video, I am showing how to calibrate the gyro (flight control board) as well as set up the internal trims for a level and steady hover - this was previously called the secret mode setup only because the manual did not explain it and I had to learn this direct from the factory engineer.
    This procedure is shown for the C190 model but it’s applicable to other RCERA helicopters, including the C186, C187, C189, C123 and C129V2 models.

    After a few dozen flights my C186 started to toilet bowl. I corrected this problem with the hover debug precedure as shown. It hovers and flies stable now. Backwards manoeuvers all no problem.

    Hello, you seem the most knowledgeable in all of these RC era helicopters. I am having an issue with one of the MD 500 helicopters. I have two of them. The styles shouldn’t have mattered, but I even went as far as changing the red Coast Guard model out for a sand Camel Fage model and back vice versa, the issue that I’m having is this once in a while when I’m flying one of the MD 500 helicopters, the five blades will fold up on each other. The rotorhead stop spinning and it falls out of the sky by folds up as the five blades fold back on themselves and the rotorhead stops spinning , and obviously the helicopter will fall out of the sky. I have gotten lucky twice. I was only a few feet off the ground and landed in some of Florida’s nicest thickest grass and there was no incident one of the other times that I was flying ahead and landed on the concrete. Needless to say, the landing gear buckled under the load, and the company no longer just sells landing gear through the bank website. They now sell the entire fuselage kit, and that was painful to say the least to have to buy all of those parts just to get one set of landing gear happens with red rotor blades with yellow rotor blades on one of my models Z fold up on themselves and the helicopter falls out of the sky. If you don’t understand what fold up means take with your finger and push all of the blades back till they will no longer go backwards anymore on the rotor grips and that is what I mean but that occurs underload underlying conditions. It’s as if the rotor continues to move counterclockwise and all of the rotor blades stop spinning and fold onto themselves. Can you please help?

      I would be happy to help. Can you post a video of the problem? I mean I read and get what you say, but its hard to diagnose it as its very strange. A video may her. What I can assume is that the pitch is not set correctly or something much simpler, the blade grip screws are on too loose. A video will help. Thanks.

  • @Mikeylikesit1968
    @Mikeylikesit1968 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Thats not what the down trim does. All it does is turn off optical flow. When you said you trimmed it and turned it off and back on , you were flying back in optical flow.

    • @Flight6677
      @Flight6677  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is not exactly correct. When you push down on the left throttle trim and hold after a few seconds the TX LED blinks and it goes into the parameters menu. In this menu you can level the swash plate by adjusting the roll and pitch trim for a steady hover. The optical flow also switches off so that it does not impact the swash leveling. In this menu you can also adjust your pitch angles using the rudder trim.

    • @Flight6677
      @Flight6677  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dgiky no you don’t. You can do the level hover setting for each heli independently and each flight control unit will save its own settings. But if you didn’t go through this internal setting you will need to reset trim each time. As I show in the video the procedure is also called debugging. It’s nothing more than entering gyro programming mode.
