I can’t believe this video is finally finished! Where do I even begin…. so a little over a month ago my friend Briony and I were prompted on twitter to do an Evak collab to the song “Two Men in Love” by the Irrepressibles:

We had already been discussing a possible collaboration but hadn’t decided on music, and immediately we were both on board with the idea of vidding this gorgeous song. So firstly, I want to say, this video is dedicated to the lovely Zaneta for pitching the idea to us in the first place! I hope this video is everything you had wished from us. ♥
This whole process has been such a journey. It was huge learning experience for me since I have never actually done a collab and we had various obstacles in the way including different editing software, quality problems, timezones, etc (and this song just generally being hard as fuck to vid). Consequently, it was sort of a very unconventional and fascinating way of working for me.
We wanted this to be a very organic and hands-on experience. I can say with pride that there is practically not a single section of this video that we both did not touch, or give some kind of input on.
Working with Briony has been absolutely incredible, she is such a talented and inspiring vidder. I want to thank her for dealing with my nitpickiness, for her wonderful insight and ideas to help this collab go as smoothly as possible that included an excel spreadsheet that takes the word Organization to an entirely new level. I cannot stress enough how much of an honor it has been to work with her. Please, if you do not already know her channel, check her out!! (link at top of description)

I saw this video for the first time early last year, and fell in love with it so much I watched Skam season 3 for the first time that same evening, and found my new obsession. Thank you both for making such a beautiful tribute to two amazing characters and series.

The beginning felt like waltzing through an empty room, which held memories and was reminiscent of Isak, I was softly swinging through the corridors of his mind, and then the world shifted slightly, and I became restless alongside with your narrative. The story palliated, shifted and spinned. The whole video is inwardly ruminative and multi-layered, as all your works tend to be, I always enjoy reading your notes about the editing process and this was no exception. You had a clear vision of what you wanted to achieve and it was palpable. Maybe I feel that way because I am so familiar with the song, but I find that doubtful. The filmic narrative felt light enough and innocent enough. And then you started picking the entire rhythm up. It felt so very natural. You could've dived straight to the crux of the matter, but you took your time, you... the flow, it was like observing your thought transitions, I bounced from one sensation to another, and then the climax was being brought forward with... with aggression and perfect articulatory absolution, but adoringly playful, inventive and confessional at the same time. No need for grandiose drama. This was so cleverly done. It felt like an ongoing poetic movement almost. I often sorta impose my own rhytm slightly, so that it fits me and I can feel closest to the art material, but I never had to here. It feels wrong to say I envisioned something here, but I've listened to this song so many times, picturing these two dancing to its rhytm... And you managed to rival my wildest dreams with your use of scenes. You put poetical temperament inside of me only emphasising the perpetual singing going on in my head at all times. I bang a terribly lot about rhythm and the flow, but it's so incredibly important, and you two just... get it, spot on, every time. Intelligent unbiased hearts living in their own beating. Following this video was like having an intimate conversation with a lost love. Genuine yet impossible to define. Thank you for this inadvertent catharsis.
To sum up, I will never be able to thank you enough for this. Ï saw your tweet Briony and I immediately started crying and I actually sobbed through my first viewing. Which I had to pause anyway because of the surreal mixture of feeling I was experiencing last night. It probably doesn't really mean much, but for what it's worth, you have made this silly, melancholy cynic the happiest she's been in a long while. I hope you don't mind that this note isn't all that different from the one I left on Briony's chanel, but frankly I am emotionally drained, this video has taken such a massive toll on me, and I couldn't be happier about it.
how do i even begin to reply to this masterpiece of a comment.
first off, thank you so much again for recommending this song because it is truly beautiful. the way this song sort of languidly moves along and then starts to pick up the pace, leading to an explosive finale is so breathtaking. it was such a challenging song to vid, i won't lie, but i think that challenge was part of the appeal for us. it was very important to us to maintain the patience with which this song has to "getting to the point." we knew exactly what it was we wanted to build up to, and, consequently, what scenes were okay to use and what scenes would tarnish that build up. there was such a self-awareness in that aspect of the process so i'm very happy to hear that the way in which we approached build up was successful to you. and for the climax, the pacing was hugely important to us, to be able to capture these fast sort of transient moments of passion and pleasure and happiness.
to hear that we "rivaled your dreams" with this song is honestly the biggest compliment i think we could recieve? (briony and i were talking about this after you had commented, we were both just so shook by everything you wrote tbh) and yes, i'm right with you there - rhythm and flow is so incredible important. the flow between our editing, scene choices, and just the overall narrative was extremely important to us.
i know i must be sounding like a broken record by now but i really cannot stress enough how happy i am (how happy we both are) to know that this video resonated with you. when we had first uploaded this, we had said that if there were 2 goals we hoped to achieve out of this it was that 1. we were both happy with what we had made and 2. that you were as well. so thank you so much once again. this comment is most definitely one of my favorites i've ever received and i am so grateful that you took the time to write out something so thoughtful and insightful.

At first I was feeling all chilled and warm and fuzzy and reliving the Evak experience, and then when the music picked up I was just gone. That montage of kisses will stay with me!

OHMYGOD, I AM SPEECHLESS.
This is so beautifully put together, especially considering that it is a collaboration (SUCH PERFECTION, HOW). There were so many parts of the video that I thought were simply amazing (eg. around 1:30 and 3:30). Also the kisses. Practically the whole video, I think. The timing was also so well done-everything fit in greatly with the music (sidenote: what a lovely song). I think the pauses w the black screen were also a really great addition. Unfortunately, I've only really seen a few of Briony's videos (i should probably change that now) but both of you are clearly brilliant vidders. Forever worshiping you skam-videomaking skills x
