Your absolute best video, KC. I can't even begin to grasp Petrosian's depth and understanding of positional chess. This presentation was however a very helpful one. His exchange sacrifices for pawn mobility and key square control is just ridiculously aesthetic to watch.
Thank you very much KC for your great work. I still can't understand how he could find such moves in very quiet positions. his style is the mystery of chess .
Imo hes the best player of all time. If you've seen the way he defended against young Kasparov, it was fucking incredible. 95% of GMs and even super GMs today would be terrified to play half the positions he played against the players he played them against.
Last video? Wouldn't it be just as enriching analysing some of Kasparov's trademark exchanges, sacs, tactics, in order to achieve his positional / strategical ideas? Another interesting idea for a New series could be something similar to this, only this time the focus being on defensive strategical / positional ideas in order to save or turn around worse / Dangerous positions? I watched one of Mikhail Tal's games against Fischer, recently, where his tactical sacs and combinations in order to defend impressed me just as much as seeing some winning combination -- Fischer just couldn't break through!
Kasparov is already covered in the Sacrifices playlist of which this is a part of: th-cam.com/play/PL9JCz2Gsbqe4HhkXnVrR8WhtgVc-zEQWT.html&src_vid=8q6gNNa-tT8&feature=iv&annotation_id=annotation_907157163 Do you mean covering lesser known sacrifices of Kasparov but more in reflection of his most common sacrifices?!
I love how Petrosian rips open the kings safety so many times, even at the expence of losing a a kinght or a bishop. Reminds me of Tal in the way he attacks in the middle games, but his defence is quite unique. I quess the trick is not playing what he wants you to play but even that will only go so far
I think Rooks are overrated in middle-games. They are clumsy, need damaged pawn structures to be useful. Exchange sacrifice for a pawn is brilliant, but sometimes if I see my position is under huge pressure, I offer my rook for opponents useful Knight which most people accept(even though they could decline with advantage) and end up losing. :D
Also, if I see the game is going to a Rook endgame, I never risk that. Rook endgames are tricky. So I immediately give exchange for a pawn and start pushing that pawn with good winning chances.
Golam Mortuza Is that why there is a whole book written about Rook endgames? In one of the games that KC annotated on TH-cam, he said that Fischer wrote in his book about that game: "I stood up all night, trying to learn more about rook endgames". Rook endgames are toughest, because you might have 2 pawn advantage and opponent can still draw with careful defense. But if you have 2 pawns+bishop vs a rook, no draw for the opponent in most cases.
Petrosian's games were realy amazing, i realy love his style of play.

Wonderful excursion into a vastly underrated artist--the Spassky games in particular are magical.
Amazing Petrosian , thank you very much Mr. King crusher
Good commentary! No time wasted and just enough time spent going into different possibilities.
levon Aronian is the succesor "Lion" but Tigran remains the charismatic ' Godfather"
Exhilarating commentary! I hope it was half as much fun to make as it was to watch!
great to see these very entertaining good job hard work
Wow, Really amazing and entertaining. Each one of them!
Thanks KC.

It is easier to win soviet union chess championship rather to win a single chess game against Tigran Petrosyan A historical remark by a renowned GM

Otherguylb one point of note that when saving the extange to not simplify to much
Otherguylb maybe the fact that you end up losing is testament to the fact that rooks are not useless
Also, if I see the game is going to a Rook endgame, I never risk that. Rook endgames are tricky. So I immediately give exchange for a pawn and start pushing that pawn with good winning chances.
rook end games are very simple.. unlike bishop-knight and bishop-bishop end games... i would kill for a rook end game
