Thats because in the last 5 years, time lost all meaning because it has been lived in a period of global survival mode. We have been hit by disaster after disaster with very few moments of light to break it up.
Except that thank God covid didn't have anywhere near The lethality of the Spanish Flu. Because if we'd had the Spanish flu in 2020, we'd be looking at 100s of millions due to how much better transportation is today.
If we can learn anything from history's worst years is that death takes no sides, it affects all people equally, indifferent of status, wealth, class, belief, ethnicity, skin color, or age. While many people cite 2020 as the worst year in living memory, years such as the great depression (1920s-1930s), 1520 (small box ravaged the aztecs), the spanish flu (1918-1920), the black plague (1348), and other events show that the world has been through alot worse.

Any place with war is always a hard place to live no matter what time in history. But I would also say that Feudal Japan & Ancient Egypt would also be hard places to live in.
2024 was a really rough year for our family. We lost several family members, my husband‘s health took a nose dive, and he was hospitalized in the summer for a month. Hopefully, no one forgot about 2008, when the stock market went under (again). What a horrible time to be ANYWHERE, at ANYTIME. Tip for living on Earth? Don't.
Yeah 2008 was rough. I remember how much groceries rose in price and let’s not even talk about the gas prices. The average was 425 in the middle of summer. My husband and I didn’t travel all that much but during that summer, we stayed home and if we went anywhere, we walked. That was a pretty rough year.
2020 was a garbage year and 2024 for me personally was a garbage year as well and in my opinion neither the attack on Pearl harbor or the attack on Hiroshima and Nagasaki should have ever happened ever.
2020 was such a hard year because of the COVID. Now, we are facing the potential WW3. The Russo-Ukrainian War continues, as did the Middle East conflicts, notably Gaza. Hope this year won't go down as the worst one.

Worst Years To Survive. 1929. The most harshest economy going out of control. I witnessed the 2007-2008 Financial Crisis. I was technically a Zillennial. I'm a actually a Millennial and Generation Z hybrid type. I find the economy as mid. Not good, not bad. I found tax loophole shelter as legal. For those who aren't into the IRS. War and disease are (somewhat) preventable and there are things we can do to reduce mortality, but there is nothing we can do about volcanic eruptions. I can't imagine how terrifying a year without summer would be.
It's a bit humbling to realize that several of these ordeals were caused by things too tiny for us to see with the naked eye. The bubonic plague, Spanish flu, and more recently COVID... not to mention smaller scale epidemics like AIDS or Ebola. Humanity-- and the rest of life on Earth, for that matter-- to this day remains at the mercy of the very smallest of living things (if you argue that viruses are even alive at all!).

Yeah, what tough years to be alive. However, 2020 was nothing compared to the other years. At least we know how to take care of ourselves now, with washing our hands and wearing masks in the nose and mouth. In the past it was all catastrophic. So many of us survived 2020, and it proves how we can survive anything. A similar event to the year without a summer now would be easier, due to this fast transportation and advanced technology. I'm so glad to not have lived in the years prior to 2020 here.
536ad wasn't anything to do with Iceland. 9:38 That's Java and Sumatra, where they now believe "Ancient Krakatoa" erupted in that year. Supposedly it was far larger and more powerful than even the one that erupted in the 19th Century, so much so that it not only created climate change around the world, but it actually created what's now the Sundra Strait. Before the eruption, both Java and Sumatra were one big island, but the eruption of Ancient Krakatoa caused the island to be broken in two! Iceland...😂
2020 was only hard because of the quanrantine . Not because of the virus . The chance of death was really low . People panic for nothing . My uncle have 50% of is lung and got covid , it was just a hard flu for 3 day and nothing after . He even didnt need to go to the hospital .

Can you imagine the poor people in 1918? Like they’ve just been at war for the past FOUR YEARS. And that war was one of if not the deadliest war that had ever happened at that point. So you finally have the war end and then BOOM! The Spanish Flu hits and everyone who didn’t die in the war dies from the flu
We're closer to 2050 than the 2000, think about it
always check your work, kids
2069 finna be the worst year
The year that 9/11 happened was a terrible year. 1999 is also a terrible year

Was watching this in order to see 2020 on this list
I swear watchmojo at this point just renames lists and just changes the order around and switches out and entry or two with other events.
2020 was awesome. The govt paid me to stay home and play video games
Till 2022 my life was going absolutely good, I mean 2021 was a end of good era! Now I'm living literally depressed! And Just because of 2020, in 2020 lockdown enters and after that family issues started happening and now I'm living a tiny small rented house 😢
Well I guess I can consider myself part of the cream of the evolutionary crop then. :D
It was Krakatoa that blew up in 536.
My grandma was born during the last pandemic and my daughter in the other....
These are good videos to watch if you ever feel like you're having a bad day.
I’m sorry I don’t feel 2020 was has hard as the other years on this list
Before even watching, I know 2020 has to be near the top if not number 1.
It’s a good thing I survived 2020
I am wondering how old were you when you got COVID 😷🦠
Happy New Year, people!
What about 1965 to 1968??
He even didnt need to go to the hospital .
why is 2020 on this list? what happened then doesn't compare to the other events presented in this video
But don't worry Florine is safe in your water no matter what happened in Iceland!
Florine?
These are all really horrible heartbreaking and tragic please 2025 be better 🙏
Try surviving the years of the Atlantic slave trade.
U forgot 2008
I was born in 2008
I hate to say it, but I had a great 2020
zombie apocalypse, when?

I,m pretty sure I am 2% Native American
Idk about 2020. Im doing fine
The way Watchmojo put the Churchill caused famine in India/Bangladesh as not so bad and like it was a natural when it was a racist decision by Churchill.
Its My Birthday!
Happy New Year 2025 ❤💙
Well, Happy Birthday! 🎂😀❤🌹🌺🌻🌼🌷
Happy birthday
I would say 2008 was a terrible year because of that awful movie "mama Mia" about a musical using terrible ABBA songs. That movie made 2008 an terrible and horrible year of humanity history
Let's see what you got
