Since discovering your channel I keep thinking how I wish I'd known all of these things 5 years ago when I started molding and casting. Thinking of it, it would be amazing to listen to your story with sculpting. I mean, you have your own workshop and it seems you've learned a lot by yourself in many years of practice. Is it a hobby? Which kind of miniature is your favorite? Where or how do you expose your creations? This kind of thing.
It's so satisfying to see someone who knows so much about something they love. Specially if it's technical and hand-made! I deal with my Warhammer and DnD miniatures too, but you're in another level of living and working with this thing!

Been binging your videos to see what ive done wrong/could do better (I'm surprised how good my wing-it attempts were at mold and wax castings) and it's like having a virtual master/apprentice relationship. I grew up going to the art shows around Los Angeles with my mom.
While she's been extremely successful, ive been trying to figure out how i could "mass produce" her work without it feeling cheap. Prints have been cool but I will feel reallt good inside if i can nail the bronze casting and open up a new venue for her sales. Being over 60 and still sculpting stuff 10 hrs a day is making me feel bad to watch 😂
Still have to put some mortar and stuff in the furnace, but again, i wanted to genuinely thank you for your spreading of knowledge that you EARNED the hard way haha.

I saw a video and thought you might end up doing a cool spin on (or even maybe you’d use it for yourself). A maker by the name of Keith Decent had made a silicone work mat so that any excess resin/spills would fill the molds in the matt and give them useful parts!
I know you have several videos featuring what you do with excess resin, but it might be neat to have a single mat for all your little work tools that you can create with the excess

As a newbie, I appreciate(d) the more detailed approach. A mix of short and long form videos is helpful: Add a link from the short form to a more detailed set would be helpful.
Question: I know you use SilPak resins. What resin do you use for roto-casting? I'm interested in the pot life and cure time.
I tend to use the same resin for everything. Silcast 2 for general purposes. FastCast for speedy cure. If you want a slower curing resin for rotational molding, use Silplastic.
why don't you do more projects like this Robert?
If i may make a suggestion, i do a lot of open face molds and i run my fingernail around the masters to clean up the silicone that leaked under them.

28:13 - If resin craps out on me like that, i just switch brand and never look back. It's not an ordinary thing for resin to bubble up within the half hour window of use.

Hello Robert, greetings from Brussels Belgium. How long do you leave the resin casting in your pressure pot. What is the difference between a vacum pot and a pressure pot.
you probably get this question a lot, but, would you approve of construction silicone (aka caulking) for use in molding?
I’ve tried it before with minimal success. It didn’t get the details. I’d love for bob to show us. Even if it is why we shouldn’t use it.
I never tried it. Silicone mold making is hard enough (for me) without using materials that are not designed for the purpose.
