On a warm start, hold the peddle down 1/3. On a cold winter start, slam the peddle down once & open the choke. No need to pump the gas, AT ALL. I grew up with a Yankee Yellow Bronco Custom 351 with round headlights, 33" tires, 32 gal tank leaded gas @ 10-12mpg, white hard top, white powder coated wheels, sliding rear glass in the back, interior roll bar, swinging rear spare. Shit for HP but tons of torque. Never got stuck anywhere, even in Alaska.
