Spencer could sense/feel the genuine love between Nikolas and Ace. It was love at first sight. The kid literally reached out for his father as if he knew he belonged to him, and Nikolas looked so happy, relieved, and in awe to hold his son. Remember, Nikolas was obsessed w/ Ace from the moment he found out Esme was pregnant. Then he was knocked unconscious for a few months. Ace is Nikolas's responsibility(if the kid is actually a Cassadine), and Spencer realizes that he needs to live his own life. He knows his childhood was not all that bad with his father. I honestly think it's BS that Nikolas has to worry about going to jail, when there are whole mobsters running around PC, but that is more on the writers' because Nikolas is not a main character. Anyway, I hope this is the writers' way of giving Nikolas a fresh start because the disservice they've done to the character since the end of Tyler's run has been awful.
@@Sisima13 You are correct. It isn't kidnapping in this situation because Esme doesn't have court approved full custody. Therefore, it is assumed since he is the biological father it would be OK for him to have Ace. The only part I do wonder about in this case is because Nik intentionally didn't want to come back to Port Charles to face charges in the first place. That part might be an issue.
Here why I know Spencer is not going to be in legal trouble because Nicholas is the father and Spencer had no legal rights to ace and I know some that worked in child care could.not deny a father from picking up his child even though the mother said.no but their is no legal documentation deny the father from picking up the child so the daycare had to release him the mother has to go to court for legal documentation in order for not allowing the father not to pickup his son so what I am saying is that Esme has to have legal documents to say that his dad has no rights to him and she did not do that

I think Spencer will say that his dad came by and wanted to meet Ace and he was holding him, getting to know Ace. Spencer was looking for his special toy and went to look for it and came back, his dad had taken off with Ace. Spencer went to the door and Esme was standing outside.

He's been safely and comfortably biding his time in one of the dozen Cassadine mansions in an extradition-free European countryside. Spencer, Laura, and co. already learned this over the summer. Everyone, including Spencer, knows that Ace will be settled & comfortable in a palace by day's end.
