Videogame journalism was always a bit sus, due to how it needed to have a cozy relationship with publishers. But, like all the liberal arts at university, journalism/creative writing students started to be told that they had to do "more" than report-they were each knighted as Neo-marxist activists. So now, VG journalism is doubly-corrupt. Just look at the wild disparity between "critics" scores and fan scores on Metacritic (whether it be games or film).
Games are now stuffed with DEI stuff and if, as a lifelong fan of a genre or IP that had been destroyed by such political initiatives, you are disappointed with the result, you are a bigot.
VG outlets now actively go after good guys like you and all the other successful gamer youtubers precisely because you are more honest. They are dead in the water and they know it.
We take no joy from anyone losing their job, but we're hardly moved to tears by it, remembering that this crowd invented the "learn to code" response to coal workers losing their jobs en masse. (and when we countered with "learn to code" when they shut down BuzzFeed etc., Google shadow-banned us for it.
