    This is really wonderful. I so agree on the way you learn. I began to feel if I couldn't intut card meanings I was a failure..
    So I started doing both. I use the deck guides, and my intuition...

    I agree with you even I feel that it is good to work with book meanings along with reading cards with intuition because the base becomes strong and one could become more confident in giving readings.

    Lovely! One of your most useful videos yet (at least for me). I've been stuck in a book-learning phase for years and I'd really like to put the books away. I'm definitely using the books to seek validation from others instead of trusting myself.

    I completely agree. Your the first video that I have watched, out of many, for beginners in particular, that advises to learn the cards and has a common sense and reasonable explanation why. This has really relieved a lot of anxiety I was having thinking I should jump in without knowing the meanings and solely going on intuition. Your advise feels right to me; to learn the basics, then add intuition along with the meaning. 🙏 Thank you.

    I always go through a new deck with the guidebook so that I know the general theme and what the creator wanted to express. I might even take a few notes of unusual things that jump out at me. After that I'll let the cards speak to my intuition, unless I get completely stumped and I might refer to the guidebook to get me back on track.

    I think alot of people forget we were spirit and still we are first, and not the physical so by this spiritual law i think we get the spiritual information first then we act without thinking? The tarot truly is a divine tool for me and i only use it for very important questions that only they can give a more view of what is going on and how the energy feel is... i don't see it as a toy to be played with because i feel that it comes from a more divine nature than what a lot think of...Because spirit was first, and this is what we can understand within these communities...I've had my deck for many years and just never really picked it up until here recently in my adult life, i kinda wished i never put them down because i sometimes feel like i've lost touch, but these past few days they've wanted to be pulled out, it's like they know when they're needed. Isn't that bizarre in a sense from a divine nature and how they do work and in truth if by a great intuitive...I gotta feel the intuitiveness in order to be able to say the readings are legit because we all know basic meanings of these cards. I think these date back way further than what they give credit for....

    You have helped me to realize I really need to work more on my intuition for card meanings and not get overwhelmed reading all the meanings in the tarot/ guide books. As a beginner I’m so worried about not knowing the basic meaning least of all using my intuition that I’m not sure I have yet 🤔. Thanks Katey for your wonderful insight and a gentle push for me. 🤗

    The more I watch your videos, the more I come to appreciate the warmth and dedication you project into every topic. I loved what you said about understanding Tarot for what it is. Even if it just means reading the LWB, Tarot does have a place in the Akashic records, and it's an energy I believe everyone has the ability to tap in to.
    By the way, could you possibly do a video recommending your favorite Tarot TH-camrs? I know about Ethony and a few others. But honestly, there just aren't enough organized, well-spoken cartomancy channels like yours on this platform. Thanks!

    Hi thanks very much indeed for doing this video. It has been one of the most helpful things I have ever read about learning the tarot and about using the tarot during the seven or eight years I have been interested in it. I find myself doing exactly what you described: knowing the meanings I have learnt, knowing the experiences I have had with a card, getting ideas and information from the card, and then still spending ages looking through guidebooks! I think it comes down to an overactive mind and your video has helped me see this properly for the first time and learn to let go and enjoy using the tarot cards instead of stressing about them. A million thanks. Adam x

    Great advice Katey! I tend to like to give the guidebooks a once over to see if there is anything added to the deck that I might want to note deck that's specific to that deck. When I started out using a mixture of books and online resources really helped but I only would like up a meaning if I was stuck or if I needed a quick keyword to jog my intuition. Nowadays, I put the books away and just trust the intuitive messages that pop up in conjunction with what the cards are saying based on the images themselves.

    • @KateyFlowers
      @KateyFlowers  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you have a great relationship with your guidebooks! I'm definitely more like you in how I use guidebooks these days, but I did have trouble taking those training wheels off in the early stages of learning to read!

    I'm so happy I went ahead and clicked on this video. I feel like I'm at a tipping point with tarot, in trusting my own intuition and knowledge about symbolism and what the cards mean to me. Slowly deciding what the Moon and five of Pentacles mean to me, and not go by the book, for example.
    What really stuck with me from this video was the insight that the cards, the universe, know me. They know how I will read different cards, and hence, they show me what they want me to be aware of. It's a very good reminder to let the book be, when I feel like the meaning is clear to me. I have a lot of performance anxiety and self-doubt, but just yesterday I was told to trust in my knowledge of my self, and have some self-esteem. So, thank you for helping me take another step on my journey.

    • @KateyFlowers
      @KateyFlowers  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a total light bulb moment for me, so I’m so glad it resonated with you. It can be tricky with all that self-doubt going on! And I get you with performance anxiety! It reminds me of when someone would look over your shoulder when you were trying to do a maths equation in school! Even if I knew I was right, having that pressure made me freeze up and question everything! 😅
      I think some of us will always be on the anxious, self-doubt side of things, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t do wonderful things - we just have to work a bit harder at framing our thoughts. It’s a process, one step at a time, but I think learning to trust ourselves in readings only serves to enhance our ability to have confidence in other areas of life, too. I’m so very glad to hear you feel you’re taking the next step for you! 😊❤️

      Katey Flowers Oh man, I was the kid who thought only the highest grade was good enough in school. But, I just came to a realization what the Knights in the suits mean to me, since I instantly did a reading! It's scary, but rewarding to trust in myself. I'll always struggle a bit, just like you, but I believe we can keep moving forward. 💚

      Maja N I was similar - perfectionism can be a really discouraging trait! But I do agree, there’s so much to be gained when we can move through those beliefs and expectations.
      And that’s amazing! Isn’t connecting with the cards of your own terms and coming to an understanding the most wonderful feeling?! Onwards and upwards! 😊

    Katey, can you do a video on how to balance the guidebook or definition with your own intuition when you're reading for yourself? It's too easy for me (as a newbie) to get swayed by what I WANT to see, or what I EXPECT to see and call that my intuition. Or alternatively, to try to stick very very closely to the textbook definition of the card and work from there, but then the reading is really weird and not always useful.

    • @KateyFlowers
      @KateyFlowers  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This video was intended to be for reading for yourself or others. All of this is advice I would apply to your situation, too. 😊
      I suppose the only thing I would add is that reflecting on your readings after the fact can help you see where you might be giving in to that ‘what I want to see’ rather than listening to your intuition. And from there, it’s about keeping yourself accountable. Good luck!
