TYVM, have been racking my brain, unsuccessfully it seems, on how to add a kill switch to an older bass boat that never had one.

Help please! I have rewired my boat following part one, great help by the way. However, I am on part 2, wiring relay, my5 pin relay has 85 as ground (blk wire) and 86 as pos.(white). Confused because your saying 85 to positive of fuse box.

Hi reneehicks, thanks for watching and please don't forget to subscribe :) It could be ether or. If 85 is positive then 86 is ground. if 85 is ground then 86 will be positive. hope this help.

I have completed the wiring except the ignition switch. My question is : the wire from ignition going directly to fuse panel, my switch has an "A" which has a purple wire , do I just add a wire off "A" to fuse panel with purple wire attached to switch also?

Hi, ok for the key wiring. You have 3 position. One is the off, You bring your 12v from battery to it. The other position is Ignition, that is the one that will go to feed your fuse box. Don’t forget, if you have lots of amps going to your equipment you will need the right gauge wire. And the 3 position is the wire “usually purple” from engine to start engine. Lets me know if it’s clear 👍

Thank you, Joe! I will let you know, rain here for a while. Your video is very informative! Thank you for getting back to me. This woman is getting it!😅 one thing I did do was attach fuse boxes to a plastic cutting board and layed it all out before transferring to the boat. Very helpful that way for me!

Thank you very much. Great videos on boat wiring. I wonder if you could add a video on a two battery system where one battery powers the trolling motor and the other battery powers the outboard motor.

Hi Ali AJ, thanks for watching, here’s another video I had done about, how to install a switch: th-cam.com/video/USG1xZju1DA/w-d-xo.html
Let me know if this helps. I usually try to remove the most possible off the wiring diagrams, so it gets less complicated to understand 👍

Hello sr. I think i have a cut in onr wire of the trim gauge. The positive one. Can you send me a diagram of the instal of the trim till he reach the sensor? The way the wires go. Bug hug... Nuno

Hi good day.....what a great video. I have question on cable no 3 & 4 that from motor/engine that work as supply power to charge battery. As we know voltage from engine while running on idle & max speed will create increase of voltage right?...so do we need to worry on this increase voltage to charge our battery or do we need to put somewhere in between engine & battery like voltage regulator?...any further information highly appreciated & thanks again.

Hi Sukri, thanks for watching. yes, you can add a Voltage regulator if your outboard doesn't have one. It will prolong the life of your battery. On my outboard it already had one so I didn't need to install it :)

Hi Joe! Quick question. I want to add a circuit breaker from my battery to the always on fuse block. I ran 6 gauge wire to the always on block and its 10 feet from the battery. What would you recommend I use for the amperage for that breaker? Im concerned if by chance one of my crimps failed, that positive cable from the battery could ground right against my aluminium hull and potentially start a fire. I know I need to add it closest to the battery but im not sure If i can go 60 amp or I need to go higher? 100? I have light load at the moment, led lights, two pumps, a radio and a small fish Finder. Thanks!!!

Hi Steve, what is the total amount of fuses in your always on fuse box? That could be one calculation that you do.
If you calculate per item, a radio about max 10amp, two pumps calculate 10amp each “I don’t know how big your pumps are”. A small fish finder depending on the model I would think about 5amps max. For the rest if it’s led lights “it’s very minimal” so max 5Amps and I’m exaggerating lol
I’m calculating about 40amps and I’m pushing it with the equipment you gave me. What ever you add in the future don’t forget about making the breaker bigger. Let me know how your project goes 👍

Hey Steve, here's a little more info. On a 6 gauge wire at 10feet you can pass between 85amp to 105amps before your wire can heat and melt. So putting a 100 amps is boderline your wire might give up before your breaker. Check this video for some info on Wire gauge and amps :) hope you like it. th-cam.com/video/c_9MxEdlRuA/w-d-xo.html
