    the whole point of a sales associate is to have someone HELP YOU find things you’re interested in, deals, freebies, add ons, etc. And in exchange they get your customer loyalty. If your SA is not actually helping you with anything (and is making you uncomfy as hell to boot) then they are not doing their job.

      When I worked at LV, the highest performing employees cultivated long term relationships with their high spenders that never involved haranguing them about potential sales or blatant misinformation about pricing 🙃

    Years ago, I purchased a Tod's bag and a week later it went on sale. I learned that my SA knew that the bag was going to be going on sale and didn't tell me. I ended up returning the bag and changing SA's. I also learned when sales would be starting and asking if an item would be going on sale before purchasing it.

      The short term “benefit” of earning a slightly higher commission is minuscule compared to the long term benefit of being trustworthy and gaining/retaining a loyal client 🤷🏻‍♀️

    That’s why I don’t shop offline anymore, I don’t use sales associate, I don’t need those “free gifts” 😂 etc. I carefully choose the items I’m interested in, take my time, thinking about it for a while and buying them online.

    A shocking story! I would have walked out politely but firmly as soon as he mentioned the $25,000 minimum spend! Regardless of whether I could afford it, the demands would outrage me! Thank you for the video!

      It’s a surefire way to destroy a previously existing relationship 🥲 I can’t imagine sharing misinformation so confidently with no attempt to confirm its veracity 🙃

    This was absolutely fascinating. It makes no sense to treat a client this way. Like you said, watch out for your client and you will gain their loyalty which will pay off exponentially in the long run. What he was doing makes no sense. It sounds like he was very short sided.
    I haven’t had anything too weird happen, but did have an SA who was very warm and kind to me, then she went on maternity leave and when she got back, wasn’t very nice anymore. I felt like I had done something wrong but have no idea what. I didn’t even shop with someone else while she was out! 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Being a veteran sales associate for two luxury stores, I would never think of telling a client how much they would have to spend!! I worked in cosmetics and made some amazing clients that I actually dealt with on a personal level. I actually had them contact me during Covid when I was on lockdown because they wanted to shop with me. I was so thankful for them and since leaving retail, I still remember them, and I had a customer who would buy with me during a gift with purchase and she would always ask me for one for her daughter and I always obliged. Sadly, she passed away from cancer, but her husband contacted me to thank me for all I did for her. She would tell me she loved me after every phone call. It's all about the client when you are a sales associate, and they deserve to be respected and the associate better realize how lucky they are to have clients like you Cindy! It sounds like we would have gotten along very well if you shopped with me!!!

    I think that is the thing about luxury brands they always want to charge you more. deals make them look down on you it’s the nature of the game of brand “luxury” they want your money and they want you to represent their brand you have to look a certain way or they won’t help you. It’s pretty stupid

    Thanks for the raffle info. I didn't realize that needed to be regulated but it does makes sense. I've seen other TH-camrs sell raffles to win a designer piece. It honestly did not feel legitimate.

    That SA sounded so shady. I hate when people give immediate "no" answers and are not willing to find out information. I don't know if it stems from laziness or a lack of respect/regard for the client. I've worked retail before (clothing store) and would always make sure my clients knew what was on sale or promos, obviously to sell more! 😆😂😅
    On a side note, do LV SAs get print outs of items that have been returned? I buy a lot and also return if I need to. However, I had an SA call me about a bag I returned (since I didn't go back to her at her store). For me, I just don't know until I get home and physically try it out a bag with items inside. It was the Bubblegram Over-the-Moon bag. As much as I loved the look of the whole collection, I knew the leather would not hold up over time, and the value of them would depreciate immediately. So I returned since I really wasn't sure about the style and color I picked out (Basil green). I purchased to travel with it but realized that it would be difficult to travel with (packing wise). And there are a ton of bags with that same silhouette (also more functional & durable) at a fraction of the price. I really shouldn't feel guilty about how I spend my money. So I feel like she made it awkward for me (as nice as she typically was in the past). She makes me not want to shop with her in the future, honestly. 🙁

    I had some questionable experience recently. I purchased some Chanel beauty items while traveling and the SA was nice to me, although it wasn’t wrapped with the seasonal ribbon, I was happy with her service. I asked for her contact and did another purchase right after the holiday, and also referred her to my friends. She received the charms and holiday wrap, and it wasn’t included in mine. It wasn’t an option to choose to gift wrap when I purchased either. I’m still going to purchase with her, but lesson learned, I’ll make sure I specifically ask for them in the future.

    My initial reaction to his comment would have been “please don’t count my coins. If I want to buy I will and if not oh well.” With a smile lol. At your other comment I am the same. If I received an item on sale then I’m telling the world. We have to look out for each other. The associate was selfish period!

    Just curious: if a person holds a raffle and sells millions of tickets, but someone actually does win the prize, why is it considered bad?

      Because raffles are a form of commercial gambling that must be regulated by the designated governing agency - all sales, expenses and winners are subject to audit in order to protect the consumer 👍🏽

    Lol. I noticed that some Hermes SAs get annoyed if you only want to buy twillies. They could say something like " in Paris we have collection box for these" implying buying such " low" cost item is a waste of SAs time.....

    Yeah I always want to enter raffles but I always decide again it because I might just give 20 to enter but if it’s unlimited tickets the person doing the raffles just taking advantage like this well known TH-camr evettxo a couple years ago was raffling her old luxury car to her subscribers it was 20 per ticket and unlimited amount you could buy but what I didn’t like is that she acted like she was gifting it out of the goodness of her heart to one luck subscribers when in reality she was making back the money it cost if not, more by raffling it

    How did you get invited to the event? I ask because if one of my SAs invites me to an event, I usually ask what the catch is. Most of the time they say "nothing" so I go. But sometimes, they'll say, well you have to buy jewelry (so if I want to buy jewelry, I'll go, if not, I won't). On occasion, I have asked SAs for an invite to an event and they'll tell me: I can't invite you unless you do X (usually it's to spend a certain amount or buy an exotic or something). And I usually honor those if I get the invite because it could mean their jobs. Just a different perspective here 'cause with a high spend request like that, typically they fly you out with accommodations covered (LV has done this for me last year, they wanted me to buy an exotic) so it's a little weird to get expenses covered to attend an event and spend $0. I know my SA would get in trouble if she/he got me an invite and I spent $0.

I would assume you know what duress means and that a person who has not yet committed a crime, especially a regulatory infraction such as not registering as a charity for the purposes of conducting a raffle, has not done anything illegal. You gave him legal advice, he heeded it and did not proceed. Further, asking for an invite to an event where a SA sticks his neck out for you and makes representations to his company about you so that said company will fly and pay your accommodations to shop and tells you beforehand WHY company is flying you out (aka spend) and proceeds to remind you what it took for him to get his company to do that for you is not duress. I'm sorry, but you're beating up on a little guy who does not have a law degree such as yourself. Show some compassion and represent the profession kindly please.

    Was this event sponsored by the store? I know if you are invited to Hermes or Dior private VIP events, for example, the accommodations are paid by the company and you are expected to spend. It seems like this scenario is similar.

      Meaning did the company pay for you to attend the event? Flight, transportation, hotel, etc. If so, there is typically a spend associated with those types of events.

    Its indeed a very poor taste it’s very vulgar and direct. Them telling the amount for you to spend is a huge red flag. It happened to me and much worse cos its no even an event, short story i didnt purchase any and did not shop there ever again.
