    According to Suisei, the average japanese preschooler cannot use the phrase "Tohaiumonono" in a sentence but can deliver a whole advertisement in English.

    And yet, Suisei had actually put the turn of phrase in question at the right place in the sentence.
    When she said "Tohaiumonono", it was at the place where she would have said Although, having said that..." in English.
    This shows that she didn't place it randomly. That she did put thoughts into where to put it. And she did it well.
    It's just that the other JP girls didn't notice and/or understand it.

      It makes no sense to say "although" before something that doesn't conflict with the previous sentence.

    • @kissena3830
      @kissena3830 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      "Although" is not the same as "but" it can work as a "but" but it is not the same. You can use it when you have doubts. Like
      "I'll bring my umbrella today, although the weather is fine"
      (In this sentence, I'm doubting if the weather will continue to be fine)
      Although can also be use when a fact is stated but you have other things to say, like;
      "We can feel the heat of the Sun, although it is very very far".
      There are other uses too.
      So yes Suisei uses "although" quite correctly.
      Though I hope she adds a more correct or related statement.
      She could have added this (after although)
      "I speak Japanese, I hope overseas people could come too"

    • @A4KP
      @A4KP ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@kissena3830 In both your examples there you are contradicting the first part of the sentence. Neither of your sentences would make sense if you removed the "although" because of that.
      Suisei's sentence works fine if you remove the "Although", because her usage is not correct.
      As you have stated, if she had indeed mentioned it would be in Japanese beforehand then it would be correct, or if she had instead worded the last sentence as something like "Although the concert will be in Japanese, I hope everyone overseas will join us" that would also be fine.

    Even if Suisei speaks slowly in English the fact that her pronunciation is spot on with nearly no Japanese accent is impressive. Mio and Kanata should have given her extra credit instead Kanata failed Suisei.
