    I am HERE for this content. Great video concept ty damo and gwen. It's also really fun to learn with and from you guys, this stuff is complicated.

      Right! You think you will have a certain outcome, yet makes you think again! Appreciate the kind words.

    This is what is missing from Lift’s website. It’s so hard to justifying another $900 front wing when they give a 2 sentence description of the wing

      @@DamienLeroyTH-cam thanks! I would love to see some comparisons of how back wing changes affect handling

    Wow thanks for the scientific test! Really useful data. Another way to possibly test this minimum speed is by actually stalling the wings. Get on foil and then try your best to stay up halfway on the mast. Then lower speed until you stall and the board slaps the water.

      Yep for sure! This was the first go likely more to come thanks for the ideas and Happy New Year!

    Foil/take off speed (mph)/lift amp/cruise amps/area (cm2)/aspect ratio:
    100 surf v2/. 10/30/22/654/6.3
    150 surf v2/. 8/25/21/965/6.5
    160 camber pro/. 9/25/15/1032/6.2
    210 camber pro/. 8/23/16/1355/5.3
    150 ha x/. 8/20/15/970/10.1
    220 ha x/. 8/17/13/1419/8.4
    So, for light wind wingfoiling, high aspect, higher surface front wings are better in almost every element: despite similar take-off speeds, high aspect + high surface foils demand less energy to fly and keep flying. Disclaimer: not an engineer, and I didn't consider other variables, like the thickness of foils, etc.

    Hi. Excellent test using empirical measurements. Appreciated. Have a great NY 2024. PS: your next tests will be interesting!

    Noice! So many reviews based on "seat of the pants" in regards to Foil shape/size/thickness/AR. This really isolates as best as possible changing one variable to see how the foils compare. It would be nice to see the findings/data in a table, with Foil specs included (AR/thickness/width/area).

    Good info.....just trying to learn what is what with these things. Checked out your website last night I may come down and take a lesson in March. Where is the best place to stay that would be close to your launch and might also have kiteboarding opportunities?

    • @DamienLeroyYouTube

      Closest hotel to both flat water spot and ocean is Hutchinson Marriott Resort. Great winging at Stuart Causeway, and great kiting and winging at Santa Lucea beach.

    Does the elite hand controller measure speed through the GPS or somehow measure speed through the water?

    • @DamienLeroyYouTube
      @DamienLeroyYouTube  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe it is though the GPS would be my guess, but maybe a question for www.liftfoils.com

    Very interesting results Damien. thank you for doing the test. i efoil on a large lake, and it can be pretty rough. Getting up in the waves can be very difficult on smaller foils, they seem to lose or struggle for lift in the waves, even at full power. Getting up is easier (for me) on the larger foils, seemingly because there is enough power to get them out of the waves and up on a plane. is that something you could test for?

    • @DamienLeroyYouTube
      @DamienLeroyYouTube  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well you hit a good point! Lakes (fresh water) will need more power or a larger wings than say salt water. So yes in general you will want a larger wing.

    Isn't the normal efoil wing at least a 200 surf v2 if not the 250?

    • @DamienLeroyYouTube
      @DamienLeroyYouTube  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Normal or average size is the 200 yes. Lift Makes a lot versions, High aspect 200, 220 and 250. 210, 270 Camber pro a little less High aspect and so on.

  • @mikeb1039
    @mikeb1039 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Well of the 'new' wings. My "sea pig" 300 surf will fly at 5mph. (according to phone gps).
    The 250 HA close to that.
    I would like that controller for the amp readings to try to extend the ride.
    VERY surprised that the take off speed was so similar across that range of wings. My take away: at 225lbs I'm best off staying with my bigger wings to get longer ride times vs going a little faster on smaller wings. I haven't even tried my 200 surf yet. LOL (freshwater lake)
    ;)

    I want to know the speeds you can reach. So too ... I ponder bringing scuba gear with. In particular ... those foils used ... which lift easier ... I suspect their speed wouldn't be as high as those which lift more easily.
    Please reply and lmk if incorrect. Thank you for your time

    • @DamienLeroyYouTube
      @DamienLeroyYouTube  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure I fully understand the question but foils can hit 40 knots. Most of our Lift foils wings will do 30mph. Average 15 MPH. There is no question you can bring scuba gear with you, anchor and dive. I hope that answers the questions.
