I know this is a couple years old, but is the authorization you received from the airport the same as a LAANC authorization?
This is very informative however it does suggest a very simplistic solution. This is still very much in the hands of the authorising authority and trying your suggestions caused us to be confronted with a lot of really scary questioning at our local airport. Even though the flight request was firstly wanted for flying in our back garden it was rejected, then a secondary application to fly indoors was also rejected. So although your video is an interesting watch it is som much specific on the permissions gained (if you can get them) and also the country

my class c airport had NO CLUE about geo zones and would not send me anything at all. for anything regarding DJI. here is how it went--- at first i called them and they said they would send that right over in an email no Problem. took my info and uas license info etc. that phone call was 4 mins long. great!!! 20 min later i get a call instead of my email and he says the airport is liable and all kinds of strange things. that im the first ever to need this from DJI ever??? this is totally messing with me . they said i dont need that beucase that area isnt in the airspace. I told them its a RZ for a jail and they dont know what im even saying. its like im just making noises on the phone and they are lost completely. DJI says bullshit they should 200% know about geo zones esp with the jail being so damn close to the edge for the CLASS C airspace. so im stuck, i cant get the form from my airport to send DJI and DJI is standing firm on their position that my Class C airport admin personell should have no problem with this simple request. mind you all i want is to shoot a part of the river that i guess crosses into a weird geo fence for the count jail about 10 blocks away. AIRPORT SAYS GO AHEAD. DJI SAYS I NEED THEIR FORM, AIRPORT SAYS THEY DONT KNOW WHY and around and around we go till i loose too many jobs. since there is NO MAPPING or CHARTING for these areas theres litterally no way i can take on jobs in my area at all becuase my big airport is big time confused.
I don't see that date option anymore after selecting the location . I was able to unlock this 2 years back this way . What's the new way now to unlock a NFZ to fly

My house is a few miles away from our local airport and just barely inside the restricted zone, but it appears they have automated this process. Hopefully I don't have any trouble getting authorization.
if you want fly anywhere you can buy custom drone. but for anti jammer you cant hide anywhere
Did you ask the airport for a certain height? and if so does it stop you from going higher?
FAA and part 107 allows only 400ft for small UAVs.
I live close to a small airport I’m not in the red zone but my neighbors are up the road. I wanna be able to fly there’s a huge nature trail. I’m getting the mini 2 which is until 249 grams would I still need a lincense
You don’t need a license but you still need permission from the airport. Like I said, very easy to get. Especially if it’s a small airport without a ATC tower
You need A1 license if you are in Europe
Edit not for drone for your self you need to register you drone if not you would be fined but you can try fly it unregistered it's a low change to have problems with the cops as long as you don't fly close to the ground to be visible

Autel doesn’t have restriction zones? This is definitely an FAA thing…not a manufacturer thing.
@@TyMyDiscovering You learn something new every day. Correct, Autel doesn’t require to unlock the zones. They exist, but they don’t need to be unlocked. Now you know. :)

I'm unlocking a geo zone here in Florida and I almost SHIT MYSELF when I heard you say ESCANABA! I live in Destin, Florida but grew up in the Yoop, southside Esky. Yeah, for me unlocking was easy. AND as far as uploading documents, THE ONLY thing I uiploasde was the frnt and back of my DRIVERS LICENSE and boom......UNLOCKED!

I live on the edge of the blue zone that can be unlocked through flysafe and no LAANC needed...do I still gonna need the airport permission even when DJI app let me take off?
According to the FAA, you need approval to fly within 5 miles of an airport, regardless of the airspace
DJI is massively over stepping the BS scales. THEY are NOT the FAA.

I'm trying to fly in a restricted area a few miles from Disneyland, probably no chance to get permission unless I know Mickey personally.....
If Disneyland is the one with the no fly zone, yes, you’d have to reach out to them. But I’m sure it’s easier than you think. Try calling someone or stop by

How do you get the license? How much does it cost. What training does it involve?
You have to take the FAA Part 107 exam and it costs $175. You can study with free material online or with videos from TH-cam, or you can pay for an online course that walks you through everything you need to know!

Hey Michael, I don’t believe you’d be able to. The only real reason you’d need to fly in these zones is for commercial purposes and you need your part 107 to do so.

@@maze400 correct, NYC has some crazy restrictions. I fly my drone all the time here in Michigan. If you are a hobbyist and not making any money doing drone services you do NOT need your part 107. But you also can’t fly in some of those restricted zones.

Yes, you can get approval as a recreational pilot. As long as your registered you can get approved.

One BIG DISLIKE from me, the title of the video implies that from now on you can fly your drone ANYWHERE, when in fact it tells us how this crybaby begged the director of the airport to grant him flights.
🤣 I didn’t beg anyone for anything. I went through proper channels per DJI and the FAA. You CAN fly your drone as long as it follows FAA guidelines 😂
@TyMyDiscovering this is just to get the restricted zone lifted, you still have to get airspace authorization through LAANC or DroneZone, yes?

Well, you should if you are commercial flying your drone. Otherwise it’s illegal. If you’re just a hobbyist, buy a smaller, lower end drone that is under the legal limits and then you can fly anywhere
