- In a shocking incident going viral over the social media, a woman passenger was verbally abused and even slapped by an Ola auto driver after the lady cancelled the ride. The whole incident was recorded and posted on social media by the victim and has been going viral since then. Cab aggregator Ola has called the incident ‘alarming’ and promised a probe. Meanwhile the auto driver has been detained and a probe is underway. News9’s Sudha Sadhanand discusses the issue with Raghu Narayana Gowda, President of the Taxi Drivers Association, Bengaluru.

In rest of the place like Hyderabad, sometimes they cancel and most times they just don’t accept. In Bangalore they accept but never show up. They are extremely rude. These people just work during nights around airports and never work during the day.
I don't understand why people have the belief that Bangalore is a safe and a good place. The only merit of Bangalore is its weather and a reputation of ushering in the IT revolution in India. But, it fails miserably on other parameters. People of Bangalore are very rude, violent, greedy and notorious for being unreasonable. I really feel safe and comfortable in Mumbai, hence have migrated there.

@@bharanidharanvasudevan8973 I faced such worst behaviors of OLA auto driver, near Bangalore yeshwanthpur RTO office, afte I got into the auto he took the OTP entered and then started demanding more money say he will charge more to drop me near peenya because of traffic. When i denied he asked me to getdown from the Auto and ended the trip . OLA charged me 30RS mentioning ride completed. I had a Auto number so I went to yeshwanthpur police staion and complained. They called him said not to do again and left him. Police didnnot allowed me to file a complaint they said you go and register a complaint to OLA. This is how being a localities even we are facing the issues.

Idiot has no regret towards this incident. He just wants to push everything on the girl. Let me tell you some consequences that customers face on a daily basis with cabs and auto drivers -
1. Cabs and auto drivers usually call customers after getting a booking to know about the drop location. They ask the drop location, the price and then they decide to pick you up or not.
2. If the distance is more then the first word that comes out of the drivers mouth is that the driver has to return alone and requests the customer to pay him extra. If the customer does not agree then the drivers cancels the ride.
3. This is the worst thing i had experienced like a week ago. I had booked a ride from point A to Point B and the driver was 2km away and the wait time was 10 min. I had a train to catch in 1hr 30 min so i requested the driver to pick me asap. I waited for more than 20 min and decided to cancel coz the driver wasn’t showing up and the distance was still more than 1km. After cancelling the app had charged me 38rs for cancellation which was not even my fault. I had contacted the driver many times but he told that he was on the way. So how is it my fault??

You are absolutely right! Once a driver picked us, on low fuel. We reached like few kilometers ahead and the car stopped. He said he can't go any further and asked us to pay the whole fare because acc to him, we got him in this mess... its completely ridiculous

Last year, my friends and I went to Bangalore and booked a hotel through OYO. We paid for the hotel in the app, but when we arrived, the hotel staff demanded additional payment. We refused, as we had already paid, and they continued to insist. We were stuck in the middle of the night and couldn't find any other hotels, so we reluctantly paid the extra amount.
When we tried to leave, we booked a car through Uber, but the driver canceled the ride after arriving. It was 5 AM, and we had no other options, so we were forced to accept the driver's exorbitant fee of Rs. 1500 instead of the expected Rs. 200. The driver also used vulgar language when we questioned him.
This was my first and last trip to Bangalore. I'm from North India, and I've noticed that some people in South India treat us differently. It's unfortunate that this experience has left me with a negative impression of the local people of Bangalore.

The real question is, why aren’t auto and cab drivers using fare meters? It’s absolutely shameful that the entire city transport system is dependent on private aggregator apps, while the administration stands by silently after taking bribes from these companies and leaving citizens to suffer.

Government need to keep their attention on OLA management and take strict action. I also faced many problems from OLA drivers. If you are in urgent and after waiting for them they suddebly cancell the booked trip. OLA Just sucking blood of customer like anything. A strict action to be taken by removing the Cancellation option which should be like after a booked trip confirmation a driver cant cancel the trip. Once this cancellation option removed, customers shall start having faith on OLA and they will not go for parallel booking.

I am a bike taxi driver and majority of the customers are north Indians but I don't think that they are rude, they are all polite if we talk to them in a proper manner, and yes some of them don't have patience and they cancel the ride when I am just 200 meters away, they don't know how much of a struggle it is to drive in the traffic

So many times i have faced a issue because of this drivers cancelling my ride because of their own convenience, there should be rule of minimum qualification, most of them are uneducated rogues & think their unions will back them for any reason.
Threatening someone for cancelling the auto is absolutely wrong. And that behaviour should be punished. That's not even something we need to discuss.
But keeping in mind that the auto driver's behaviour was wrong and no one's condoning it, it is also important to notice that this practice of booking 2-3 autos at the same time is harming someone's business. Booking 3 autos and calling all of them to location and cancelling 2 is wrong behaviour. And I also know that even autos cancel the ride so customer is unaware whether the ride will come or not.
I regularly book auto, and everytime I am matched with a driver, I give them a call to confirm whether they plan to come or should I not bother with them. It's such a simple solution to save time at both parties.
