How to-the-point you explain your actions is enticing. The way you no-fuzz avoid overthinking and tinkering with sounds and arrangement bits is inspiring. Such a great process you've got going there. Thanks so much.
So glad you liked it! @@Synqronizer If you are interested I have just launched a course on my website doing the process and techniques in super detail :)
So I've been making music for a number of years, but this tutorial was immensely helpful in getting me to re-focus. I switched from FL to Ableton recently, and I've been having trouble nailing down some kind of sound, but leaning towards techno. I watched a million and one tutorials, of course, but none of them felt like "me", they all felt hollow and empty. But I returned to this one (one of the first I ever watched), decided I wasn't going to over-complicate it like I usually do (e.g. you say "let's have an arp synth" I go "alright, and let's have a main lead, a counter melody to that and-and-and-and..."), and there it is. One thing I did have trouble with still was not using a snare/clap, which I know not every techno song does, but I was just so used to it that I couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. So, I did something new: I had gotten into the habit of using Amen breaks for percussion, usually moving the kick rolls or secondary kicks to better fit the 4-on-the-floor type beat. Instead of doing "just" that, I modded it so that the snare hit of the break replaces the usual snare/clap - not entirely, as it is still percussive, but it works. So, THANK YOU. :)
Techno vocal hook: "have some tea biscuits" 😅 Just found this channel. Love the vulnerability you share with us. Your trust in your audience is admirable and i hope we don't let you down.
Followed along with the stern intention to create a techno song for the firs time and starting from almost 0 knowledge of the software, music theory and ended up doing something different but still pleasant to the ear based on my tendency to impulsively click left and right playing with all the audio effects... still had fun and still learned something!
I did learn a bit more here. Sometimes you blew through some of the processes to quickly for me, but I did figure out how to do most of them. I do like what I came up with in about 3 hours so, thank you.😊
It is so much fun to follow along your workflow, it really gets you not only in a good mood, but it puts you to work. SO GLAD I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL. Thank you so much for sharing such high quality content. Just found my new favorite female producer. Love from México. 😍❤✨
Hello LNA and community at minute 3, you are adding some Rack to improve the bass but somehow you where that fast that i can not reproduce this step where to find this Drum Buss Rack?
It reminds me of "German Bold Italic" Towa Tei featuring Kylie Minogue) ! Great tutorial. Didn't realize that was how you made the kick drum rumble. Excellent tips.
i got a question for step 8, ive set analog gate and auto filter but the sound is very high, not like yours, vibing like a wind fron left to right, how am i gonna fix this? ive checked my setting is nearly exactly like yours....thank you
Very Cool. Yours is better than mine! I think I need to find the way to make the same simple boop boop beep boop melody. GJ, I Liked to follow this tuto very much. I can't wait to go though all the other ones.
Awesome video as always.. massive fan of your content LNA! I'm gonna echo what many people have commented on here.. please release this song! 😉 I would ESPECIALLY love to hear the finished track and also any other techno tracks you make! 😎🙃😄
Very glad to hear you enjoyed this video and the track Emily. You have been a great follower of my content for many years and for that, I thank you. 💕 This track might see the day of light indeed, but maybe by following other path than the LNA one. 😜😘
Great video. One suggestion is that you use some tool that makes your mouse much larger and shows when you click. I got lost a few times trying to follow your mouse.
oh i see you're suomi ! how about some suomisaundi trance !!?? would love to see what you come up with , or could i maybe remix one of your tracks ;) ?
Hi thank you so much for this great vid. But I´ve just one question as I try to rebuild it.... how do I set up the closed and open hi hat sound?!?! Many thanks in advance
Nice!!... I wonder how come Amelie became so successful so quickly, and many, so many other very talented producers and DJ's don't even get to scratch the surface???... What do you think?
One question LNA, you who know how to do techno with Ableton... how can I get the keyboard from 03:04 - 03:15 of the song "Carrier signal" (Soul Extract) in Ableton? Thanks for your time!
🇮🇹🙂 Hi, I'm writing to you from Italy. I found your channel by chance, because I was looking for videos on how Ableton works, I would like to try using it, I had FL Studio, they told me to try Ableton. I wanted to compliment you, I'm a producer-DJ, it's my whole life and I've made songs, I'm a girl. Really, you were very good, I also really like the vocal track. I left you a Like on the video.
Thanks! Yes so in this I just produce the aesthetic parts of the track. Mixing is a stage after production. I have a mixing course on my channel that'll explain it further. :)
So I try to replicate (more or less) what you were doing, but I am (and was immediately) confused by what you do on the 106. Unfortunately is can't be heard in isolation, but I don't understand the combination of the arpeggiator and playing only one note. Arpeggios are about broken chords, aren't they? Could you do a under-4-minute video of adding this synth track (maybe including the sound beyond picking a preset called techno to make it sound techno, I work with the TAL-UNO)?
Having just one note gives the note in a first place rhythm, and by suing the arpeggiator controls you can create the harmonic pattern without doing the harmonic chord beforehand :) Good luck with it!
Track is nicee 😁 I actually stumbled onto this video bcs I'm thinking of trying to produce some tracks but didn't find the answer I was looking for 🥲 Like if I happen to like a lot of vocals on my tracks and want to use some from another song, how do I sample it on account of the background drums? Like do people drown them out somehow with filters or do they incorporate them into the track? Like when someone uses hollaback girl in a trackor when charlie sparks used a whole ass rap song in his welcome to london track.
Hey LNA this came out well and was really helpful. It is probably inevitable to upgrade to Ableton, it's definitely the go-to DAW for techno. I think it will be worth it. A lot of techno vocals seem to come from old sci-fi films.... I think of a ship's computer, AI or securty system saying something like "Destruct sequence initiated.....45 seconds until self-destruct..." And that was the fastest I've seen someone get the rumble going.
Hi there. I'm 52 and just startet with Ableton with zero knowledge an no musical backround. I love your Videos ... they help a lot and are fun to watch. How did you create that little melodic part at 19:50? What Notes did you Use? THX"
really loved to watch , normaly at 1 minute of technical terms i get bored , but i can whatch you for hours , your fun and know alot ... really love you
Gahhhhh Amelie Lens-inspired techno 🤩 I love making techno and this is my favorite tutorial I've seen for this genre- it's so joyous! I'd happily spin (and dance to!) this at a warehouse party somewhere. Wonderful, wonderful work, LNA! 🔥
nice video i'm going to record myself singing "make more techno" pitch shifted plus a load of fx and now i'm a techno girl :) it's either that or a robot. :/ great video thanks
i'm trying to grasp it, you move through popping this open, this open, that open.............the hardest part for me right now are say I get a kick going, wouldn't it be best to just leave that kick going, nothing else, and just go through all the plug ins and color effects eq and such in every way shape and form, until i understand all those things befor moving to the next track? i just don't know how to say add some sounds effects to a track, them you hate it and need to back up a few steps, stuff like that, how to you learn all that without someone sitting with you?
1. Play the video at a slower speed so you can grasp what and how she is doing stuff easier. 2. Put loads of time into familiarising yourself with Ableton (or whatever DAW you prefer).... It's a very intuitive DAW, but you still can't expect to learn everything in a few sessions (if there's anything particular you can't work out; search for a video specific to that... YT is gold!). 3. If you want lots of tutorials about the component elements of techno def. check out Oscar @ Underdog's channel. 4. Watch loads of sound design videos (regardless of genre) to pick up loads of tips and gradually develop your own go-to processes and signature sound. 5. Don't be shy of reading about audio & music tech.... The more you understand the better.
