This is your absolute best video yet. And I believe I have watched them all. After I had already been trading for some years I also decided on taking the path of algo trading myself. It took me 3 years with my own band of misfits and a mathematical-oriented financeer to go precisely through every stage you described there. The elation of perfect backtest results with the frustration of forward-demo-testing not being quite the same. Fine tuning every aspect. Filtering out bad results while trying to maintain profitability, tweaking here and there, all of it. We came out with something profitable - not as profitable though as our manual trading had already been. Adding to your concept of "understanding context", I would add "gut feeling". That would be the low resolution, not yet literalized/integrated knowledge we carry around. And, of course, Trump tweets. My algorithm goes bananas on those.
You mentioned a paper. Is there a way we could read it?
Thanks for your content. Cheers from Brazil.

Great content !! Thanks for sharing such a great analysis and for explaining in simple terms the real/proven hassles of looking for an automated system. We need more traders and contributors like you ! I will look at the rest of the content in your channel, it looks fantastic.

5:55 So true! Too may people think old strategies learnt from books are the way to easy money. The truth is, most systems don't work. That's why so much work goes into developing a profitable system.

This is the reason I 5 years ago realised I had to lern to code my self. I could never have payed anyone for the 1000 of hours of testing that was done. And I would probably not have lerned as much if someone else did it. Just wish I had documented more. One of the easiest mistakes to do is to spend a lot of time documenting and testing a system that isn't doing 100% of what one thought it did yet.

thank you! Been learning a lot from just watching your videos. Hoping to join your training in the future. You mentioned something about "Context", I actually "saw" that to be critical but I didn't know where in trading. You explained it quite well here and it helped dawn on me. Thank you once again! :)

    -------------------------------------------REQUEST-----------------------------------------
Great content as ever Nicholas! I have but one humble request
at the moment. May you please do another video on your
experience of making big(ger) money in the markets?
I found your previous video on the subject very motivating as i
could see myself in you, i.e, achieving the sort of success that
you have using your system, and even though I haven't been
able to pay for the full course, i religiously incorporate and practice
your system (the bit that's free i guess), strategies, advice and
all lessons regarding trading in my own trading.
I hope you see just how important it is for me and I'm sure
many traders out there who aren't there yet. Sometimes as
as non-profitable trader it's easy to lose perspective of the
big goal and that's to gain the financial freedom to live the
sort of life you dream of.

This video covers so much information that i feel is not getting covered enough by trading sources... i found the fact most of the really popular trading strategies published on youtube are exactly these, in theory really easy to code strategies, based on 1 or 2 indicators all on the same timeframe with no context involved is very misleading.
In the research i did the recent years i figured out that no matter if you trade patterns or indicators or anything else, context is equally important. (opinion) great video, thanks.

    • @Duomoinitiative
      @Duomoinitiative  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks for the comment. I think people that stay with trading long enough probably come to similar conclusions eventually regarding context and the common strategies you see everywhere.

Thanks for this great video! In the screenshots of the „weekly cycle changes“ I can see AB patterns with fibonnaci levels. These are different to the ABCD patterns (zigzag) from your Duomo course. Which patterns does the algo trade? And does he use all tools of the duomo method, or only parts of it?

I loved the challenge of working on an automated system, working with some great people and the fulfilment of building something and making discoveries. But, since I can't code it's not something I can do on my own and I enjoy being involved in the markets rather than just watching something do it for me.

If the system can turn $10 into $1,000,000 and you can replicate that in >30 seperate different events/periods then the system should be statistically significant enough to make the reasonable assumption that it's probably not a random system.

@@Duomoinitiative Thanks for the insightful video - always MUCH appreciated! Any thoughts as to when you'll be sharing some of the details of the aforementioned "academic paper"? Indicators sans detailed context only work part of the time and I've spent a considerable amount of time lately on establishing context (e.g. particularly to identify areas when NOT to trade). The same process holds true for determining ML "features" as without context, ML doesn't work very well either :). It would be helpful to know if what I've done so far mirrors some of the work your team has done.
