I just found your channel.I lived in Cedar Rapids for about 10 years.I look forward to watching your videos!!! This one is wonderful!!! Love from Vermont
Well done! I've never been to the Bahamas and I've been thinking of visiting the next time I visit some friends in Florida later this year. This is by far THE BEST video introduction to the Bahamas I've seen yet and I've looked several times for videos on TH-cam over the past few weeks! Thank you! I'm glad I found your channel. I would love to tour with Ms. Patty - how do we contact her?
Amy! Thank you so much! Wow, what a fantastic comment to read today. I’ll send over Miss Patty’s info. Would you mind emailing my exec. Producer? His email is kevin@erikthetravelguy.com
In the out-takes at the end; was that a little of Bob and Doug MacKenzie from the Great White North? You were supposed to finish it with "Take off, eh!"
I work with a Bahamian fellow named Shalton Barr, who used to do what Ms. Patty does there and was just as popular. He's trying to get the same thing happening on Andros, a different island an hour's flight south of Freeport. It's by far the largest island in the country, but it's sparsely populated and has very little tourism industry. It's because of this that I believe the Bahamians on Andros are the only true Bahamians, as they're the only ones that live in a community that doesn't serve tourists as the main industry. Every other Bahamian you'll ever meet on any other island will have his or her lifestyle impacted by tourists, but not on Andros. It's the true cultural center of the country, with real pirate lore (instead of pirate movie lore), more blue holes than anywhere, the batik factory that produces one of the unique styles of the Bahamas, and the Red Bay settlement where those awesome Bahamian baskets and weavings are made. It's also the scientific center, with the third largest reef in the world just off the east coast and the tongue of the ocean, one of the deepest points on the planet just beyond that. My friend Shalton takes you out to a nearby cay that has the softest sand in the world and is home to more than a hundred varieties of birds. So, by all means check out the tourist spots in the Bahamas, but put aside a day or two to check out the real Bahamas with real Bahamians!
I'm happy to inform you that two Islands were partially damaged, Abaco and Grand Bahama. So your heart doe's not have to break it’s not all destroyed. But we do understand your sentiments.
Mario Taylor For three days I prayed for the storm to move because I have been through many hurricanes the worst of the worst. Live on the MS Gulf Coast so met Hurricane Camille and Hurricane Katrina not to mention several in between. I prayed for weeks after for all of the people of the Bahamas. I have never been to the Bahamas and what you guys went through was just not normal. A storm that would not move and not normal. God bless all the people of the Bahamas.
My dream country,, next year I will come to Bahamas
