@ShizuokaJoe when you privatize such a corporation, you could set certain rules that private companies have to abide with including subsidies to certain areas and what not. That happens to electric companies for example. But not going too far from the industry, Royal mail in the UK has been privatized with little impact on rural areas that I'm aware of

the workers are not holding your mail, Canada post is currently in possession and could have avoided all of this by continuing to negotiate. They instead made an offer, provided no intentions of negotiating further and forced workers to strike for what they believe is enough. This is action is protected by law whether you agree or not.

Postal workers should be done away with altogether. My dog can deliver packages, and he can’t even read. The private market clearly has delivery covered - the only impact I’ve noticed is that the stuff I ordered online that wasn’t sent by courier is being held hostage. It wasn’t important stuff. I’ll happily replace it if we shut down the PO.
In some developing countries like India, there are very strong trade unions too including in the public sector. But strike for a month in this kind of essential service! Have not heard of it.

Honestly, I haven't even noticed that Canada Post was on strike. When I order what I want online, they are delivered by other delivery companies. All Canada Post have given me is junk mail or political flyers, none that benefits me at all. I don't care if Rajesh Patel just opened an authentic Italian Pizziaria near my neighborhood, or my local Liberal/NDP/Conservatives parties are up for voting this coming month. If they want to argue paychecks through mail, my paychecks are auto deposited, so there's 1 argument that's been subdued. So pop off Canada Post, welcome to 2024, there are other methods/companies for delivery purposes. Also, this just opens up more opportunities for private mail delivery services to pop up. Canada Post will be irrelevant soon.

I had a friend that did our subdivision and she started early sorting but was done by noon sounded perfect to me and honestly a paycheque after being a stay at home mom sounds amazing.. I know there are post office workers that voted against this strike …I would love a job outdoors walking or driving that paid me lol I just have to drive family (taxi)and no one even chips in for fuel ..
