I’m 99% sure that The Raven Boys takes place April 24th to beginning of summer, The Dream Thieves is summer, Blue Lily, Lily Blue is the beginning of their senior year (so fall), and The Raven King ends their senior year. So it’s a little over a year.
I. LOVE. THIS. SERIES. SO. MUCH. Her writing style, the nuances, the relationships! Please 😭 Yeah, plot is so hard to explain 😂 It’s like “technically it’s about this group of mistfits following a guy named Gansey on his quest to find a dead dude BUT ACTUALLY … it’s about how the bond of 5 friends as well as how they change as individuals” … or 😂something
I absolutely love this series as a whole, not so much as individual books in said series. It's what made me realise what YA has the potential to be and how much I value atmosphere and character development rather than plot. I think it's a great transitional series between age groups for that reason, and because the relationships feel so real, probably unlike anything I've ever read before
This series is my heart and soul . I truly believe its character work and vibes are unparalleled. I don’t think even adult sff can hit me the way this series does . Except well realm of the elderlings by robin hobb
Tried The Raven Boys, will give it another go. Harry Potter books and movies became everyone's when they were published, we can and should enjoy and talk about them. Everything else jkr makes or says can and should be ignored.
I choose not to use my channel to promote her (not that what I do matters to her or to the grand scheme) so if/when I do bring up her or her books I always want to make it clear that I don't support her
This was super helpful. I just did a video of my TBR cleanup and trying to decide what I wanted to keep on the list. I had this book on there and NONE of my followers had read it.
I think i might give these books 📚 a go is there a series to read before this one please stay safe and enjoy your reading love your channel love your number one Australia fan John
I'm always tempted to give anything you recommend a try because your taste probably is the most similar to mine that I've found on booktube, but prose like that can be so hit or miss for me... For example I loved the flowery language of NotW and Strange the Dreamer, but Starless Sea and How to Lose the Time War were just... blegh. 😅 But maybe it was the latters' lack of plot...? If her metaphorical language is a little too contrived it will probably grate me the wrong way, but who knows, maybe I'll love it. I'll tentatively put it on my list of things to try out!
There really is nothing else like it (apart from Maggie’s other books), but I do recommend The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden and also Neil Gaiman for sort of similar writing. They’re both very different, but I think Arden is very atmospheric in a similar way to Maggie and Gaiman has the same tendency to craft very intentional sentences that are clever or beautiful or that mean two things at once - or all of those things together. His writing looks at humans in the same sort of way Maggie’s does, if that makes sense.
Interesting video, I read this series and really enjoyed it even though I don't really like meandering in books, but maybe that's a lie because i've read some more that seemingly go nowhere and enjoyed. hmm
Could you please elaborate on the school situation a bit more? 😂 I’ve only read the first one - liked it, didn’t love it, but that may be because I’m not a huge fan of Urban Fantasy in general.
Noticed this the other day at the bookstore but didn’t pick it up. This sounds intriguing. Metaphors and imagery work for me. By the way, which is your favorite Gaiman book? I haven’t read much of his but have noticed you’ve mentioned how he is one of your favorite authors.
I did not expect such J.K. Rowling comment on this channel. Seemed rational and not that much into following what is politically correct now or whenever. Unless it was a tongue in cheek comment, then please clarify.
I love this series. I've re read it so many times . It's just the vibe ,the feels , the Ronan and Adam storylines
the vibe and the feels are immaculate

Stiefvater is definitely among the authors I point to when people say YA has nothing of substance to offer
These are seriously some of my favorite books ever

omg yes Hobb is a heartbreaker! love both

@@LienesLibrary I understand, seems like a smart decision.

hope you enjoy it if/when you get to it!
LOL you really don't see the school, I only remembered they're still students when Adam had to work multiple jobs to pay for it
yeah, it's mainly adam's financial struggles that make you think of the school at all - that and Ronan constantly trying to drop out 😂
Dont forgot all the latin teachers, but even that us dropped by the 4th book 😂
I just bought all these books so I appreciate feeling more confident in my purchase. Thank you 😊
hope I didn't overhype them haha
Excellent vid. It’s tied with 3 other series as my fav books of all time, but man I love Blue and the gang (especially my boy Noah ! )
now I must know what it's tied with 👀
@@LienesLibrary so currently tied with Broken Earth, Books of Babel and the Diviners quarter
I think i might give these books 📚 a go is there a series to read before this one please stay safe and enjoy your reading love your channel love your number one Australia fan John
no this is where you start 🧡
@@LienesLibrary thank you 😊
I have really been wanting to get to this series! It sounds super fun and idk why I keep putting it off.
you should! then we can have another series to agree on 😋

I just finished The Starless Sea and I hated it - but I love NotW and anything Laini Taylor 😁
thank you for reminding me to reread this series!
anyone know any similar books whether it's the beautiful writing, the vibe or characters?
I find most of Stiefvater's books (that I've read) have that vibey writing - The Scorpio Races in particular 👌

Oh, I am just reading the first one and I really like it so far! ❤️😊
hope you love the rest just as much!

it's weird to hear this referred to as "urban fantasy" given how NOT urban their environment is in the books 😂
@@LienesLibrary true 😂

By the way, which is your favorite Gaiman book? I haven’t read much of his but have noticed you’ve mentioned how he is one of your favorite authors.
Gaiman IS my favorite author haha - my two favorite things he's written are Ocean at the End of the Lane and The Graveyard Book 🧡
@@LienesLibrary Thanks for the reply! I wondered which one of his I might try next, so I thought I would ask for your favorite.

No Henrietta, Virginia. There is a Henrietta, West Virginia, but I suspect the town in these books is fictional.
I would imagine it's probably a fictional place, but I couldn't say for certain haha
Ohhh it is a favourite :D
