    Another great video which can be very useful tips for fellow overseas visitors to Seoul. About T money card, you can use it at most of shops, buses and taxis as a mode of payment. Big thumb up for your courage to adventure out alone first time in Korea. 👍

    Most subway cars in Seoul do have display monitors in each car that show you what the next station is. Some of the older cars might not have it, but that's very rare.

    • @CatherineGrenfell

      Interesting, I only came across one display monitor during my trip. But overall so impressive, clean and efficient!

    Great vlog. Was in Seoul March 24. Kakao Metro app was also extremely useful along with the Kakao and Naver maps. LOVED the jingles on the platforms when a train was imminent. And the T-Money card was brilliant - used that for the luggage lockers in Seoul Station as well as the metro and also a taxi on one occasion. Many thanks for the memories! 🇰🇷😊

    • @CatherineGrenfell

      Glad you enjoyed it, yes the jingles were delightful! I caught the train here in Sydney the other day and music started playing just before the train arrived I thought Sydney has upgraded the customer experience, alas it was just some guy with a boom box doing his thing. It's funny what the mind can think in a split second.

      Thanks for your kind comment. Yes, Naver maps are great, but they took me a while to get used to and was hard for me to search for something if it was not a major tourist destination.

    • @CatherineGrenfell

      That is interesting that things about Australia are taught in schools, I learnt most of what I know about Korea from K-dramas. :) That's why I had to visit to find out more. I re-listened to the announcement at 4:28 but its all jumbled words to me.

    You are very proficient in using Korea's subway.👍
    I live in a city south of Seoul and the Seoul subway connects to the city where I live.
    I work in a job that always moves around in a work vehicle, so I rarely have the opportunity to use the subway.
    About 5-6 years ago, after drinking with a friend at a downtown bar and splitting up to go home at 11 pm, I took the subway for the first time in almost 15 years and got off at the subway station near my neighborhood.
    But I was drunk, so I lost my sense of direction inside the crowded subway station.😵‍💫🍺 I couldn't find the exit no matter how much I wandered around. That's when my wife called me.
    "You're late, why aren't you home yet?"
    "I arrived at the subway station near our neighborhood 30 minutes ago. But I can't find the exit."
    "Then ask someone passing by."
    "I can't do that! I'm too embarrassed. I'll look like a country person. And I'm drunk now, my face is too red."
    I hung up the phone and wandered around for another 20 minutes before I could escape the subway station.😂😂😂
    Subway stations are very dangerous.🤣
    Thank you for the good video.

      Thank you for your story, that made me chuckle! Glad you eventually made it home. I could not imagine navigating any part of the subway with a 'few beers under my belt'. 🍺

    FYI...GS25 and CU are more popular convenient stores in South Korea. I like your smiley and exciting face. Korean currency is 'WON' neither 'YEN' or 'YUAN' although basically same character, 圓. We have better and more advanced station indication system in other colors lanes than Tokyo subway. I wish you experience more before commenting or comparing something.

    • @CatherineGrenfell

      Thanks for your info. Yes, I was telling someone yesterday that was the only 7-11 I saw (it was close to my accommodation). I realised afterwards I mixed up my currencies, doh glad you understood what I meant. Later on, I did find one train with the station indicator system. I was wondering if it depended on what line?

    • @hydropascal

    The Korean metro system may seem complicated at first, but the routes are well-differentiated by color, so it is very convenient once you understand them. I'd like to see you transfer to the bus almost free with your T-money card. After using the subway or bus, you can transfer to another mode of transportation almost free of charge. Taxis are excluded. Find out more about it. You can enjoy Seoul more conveniently.

    • @CatherineGrenfell

      You have explained something to me that I was puzzled about. When I was on a bus from Changuimun Gate back down to Jongo, I was not charged (I think). I thought maybe I had tapped on incorrectly, but maybe it was because I caught the subway earlier in the day? Either way its a great system! 🚊🚌

    • @wilnc

      @@CatherineGrenfell When getting off the bus with a T-money card, be sure to tap the card before getting off. If so, otherwise the longest distance fare for that bus will be charged to your T-money card. As you know, the T-money card can be used as a payment method when purchasing items at convenience stores or taking a taxi. 😎
