The video showing the khukuri restoration process was impressive. The khukuri, a traditional knife used by the Gorkhas during wars, played a crucial role when the British colonized India and attacked Nepal. It served as a formidable weapon in the hands of the Gorkhas during their resistance.
Not quite sure why you heated it and what did you quench it in? It wasn't hot enough to harden and I think you may have only taken the temperance out of it. On your next restoration, instead of WD40, try ACF50.. Far superior for what you're trying to achieve. All that said, I admire your hard work.
👍👍👍👍👍It's a restoration. - It's like a journey from old and worn out to elegant and functional! The level of care and precision in this restoration is truly amazing! Thanks for the video))
Why are you lying to this guy? He ruined the heat treatment right off the bat. This video is an example of everything NOT to do. Wtf wrong with you? Are you trying to sandbag him by lying? He will keep doing everything wrong if you claim he did everything right. Nothing he did was correct, from the rust removal to the handle, EVERY single action he made was wrong. He never even rehardened the blade after annealing. If you think he did a good job, I'm suspect of your knowledge.
If you throw rusty metals directly into vinegar and let them sit for 12 hours, they will become clean. Just polishing and sharpening will be enough. Wooden parts can be restored in the same way.
I admired your work ethic and what you had to do to get the kukri back to life. I feel that the people who criticize your work probably couldn’t do what you did on that rusty blade. Thanks for giving it a new life! Well done sir!!
Poorly educated people like you telling this clown he did a good job when he literally ruined the knife is why this channel will never succeed. He will never get better because he doesn't think he did anything wrong because simps like you lie to him. The first thing he did was ruin the heat treatment on the knife. You DON'T HEAT a knife unless you re going to harden it, or you are annealing it. Heating it softens the metal. He didn't even come close to heating it correctly. Then he heated the blade AGAIN, grinding it. He didn't sand the blade nor reharden it after annealing. I'm not even going to address the rest of the horrible work. Stop lying to this guy, that knife is a joke, and would be dangerous to use.
I feel it was a big mistake to heat the blade which resulted in damaging the heat treat/temper. There really was no reason to do this.. My suggestion for the handle is to draw out the original shape on paper. Then practice carving this shape until you are able to attain a reasonable facimille before attaching it carefully to the knife. Also, it would be really good to practice knife sharpening on non antique knives to gain proficiency regardless which type of system you use, then carefully apply this new skill to your precious antique knife. With respect. Good luck!
thank you very much for your feedback I know it was a big mistake of mine cutting the handle and not making it well But I will definitely fixed it next time
On my own kukri that I found in a shed tool box it was not as bad as this one, wire brushed it, wet and dry paper it, never did anything to the handle as it was solid, turned out not too bad at all.
the restoration was really good on the metal side but as far as i know being a Nepali the handle plays a crucial role while handling khukuri and the way you made the handle you'll end up hitting your knees or getting injured in your hand i use khukuri almost everyday when i am at home so i know how important is the handle
I agree that you left the steel very beautiful...but for me you didn't restore it, you worried about giving it shine. What was valuable, which was the handle of the dagger, you managed to break and treated it like trash in the end... for me it's not restoration. And another thing, how do you know the date of the dagger... did it have a manufacturing date?
Try to mention Nepal when you are saying khukuri . Correct yourself its khukuri not kukuri. Its Only a weapon that gorkhas use and gorkhas dexterity with it is amazing .it started existing from Nepal .its national weapon of Nepal and all Nepalese own this .
Bro... just mention it as Kukri (spelled as Khukuri) only, "NOT KUKRI KNIFE". Kukri is a separate class, a Nepali Pride. For your information, the Kukri you are restoring is a "Sirupate Kukri". P.S. You ruined the handle. 😢😢😢
Like Sword is a different class, and there are several types of swords. For example: Japanese famous Katana Sword. Do you call Sword a knife? 🤔 I don't think so. Similarly, Kukri is a different class, and there are several types of Kukris. And, in the video, you are restoring "Sirupate Kukri". In Nepali, "Chakku" is called for a "Knife". See, we have a separate word for a knife. Thus, it is called Kukri only. And if you ask what type of Kukri, then it is Sirupate Kukri.
It's Khukuri(खुकुरी) not kukri(कुक्री). 🙂
Was gona say that and i read your comment 🎉🎉
Yessir, tell this wyt boyy🤌🏾 da fuq is a kukri🤣
Every household in Nepal owns at least one of this weapon. KHUKURI is our national weapon. It is our pride 🇳🇵JAY NEPAL 🇳🇵

yes you are absolutely right i agree ( thank you very much for watching your video )
Yeah, I was confused about that. Why ruin the original temper? Now the whole thing is going to be soft and not hold an edge... 🤨
I am from Nepal, grew up using Khukuri, and can tell there is no way this Khukuri is more than 60 years old.
👍👍👍👍👍It's a restoration.

You feel bad.
I cringe everytime an antique is treated like that. And I've restored a few things myself.

Great job on the knife. What was your power source and voltage for the salt water bath?
Only 12v (thanks)
The handle was terrible definitely not a wood worker
On my own kukri that I found in a shed tool box it was not as bad as this one, wire brushed it, wet and dry paper it, never did anything to the handle as it was solid, turned out not too bad at all.
You soak it in vinegar and it will be as good as new.

Rust looks like original but mud was definitely added
Great work
It's Khukuri, not Kukri. Make yourself sure before you spell it out.
Why did you store the rust fragments in a jar?
Because I will cook and eat them 😂
this one has gone through a lot, wonder how and what it has chopped down
Weapons from troops that were once brushed off by the special forces of the Republic of Indonesia...
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
💥💥💥🔥
There are two types of khukuri popular in Nepal. Buduna and Sirupate. This one is called Buduna.
as a Nepali my rating for that handle is 3 out of 10 :D
Nice
It's a Khukuri(sirupate type) originated from Nepal.
National weapon of Nepal 🇳🇵 and Weapons of Gurkhas 🇳🇵
👍
Nepalese khukuri👍👍🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵
Proud to be Nepali
A vinegar bath for 1 week would have saved you a bunch of time...I give a C- on this restoration...
Okay
No one asked
Do it better or shut up
You have restoration video??
kinda sloppy restoration, i agree. the handle alone is crappy and uninspired. this kukri deserved better.
Wow i like the handle men

You should work hard on making original handle bro..
Handle you made is not good for khukuri. It should be made just like the original handle.
@AA Hands its Khukuri not KUKRI PLEASE CORRECT IT
А ножны где ?
Vinegar instead of salt water (and left over night) would have taken all the rust off and taken much less effort.
