Just like in the video, I had ordered a ribbon cable for SID2 as labelled on the housing but as I tried to replace it, I figured out I needed the SID1 ribbon cable. I had sent an email to the Pixelfix with the hopes of exchanging my order. It only means waiting another two weeks to repair this simple fix. I enjoyed disassembling the unit on my 2001 9-5 wargon model. I'll keep you posted as it goes. Thanks for the video, it's very easy to follow.

I purchased a cable on Ebay for USD 4.30. Followed the instructions in this video and "Vupti": My SID worked again.
Note: The quality of the Ebay 4 Dollar cables are not quite the same level as more expensive ones. And I would recommend purchasing a kit, including the "foam pressure strips", shown in this video to ensure proper contact between the print and the display.

So happy to have come across this video! Thank you so much! Can finally get my 9-3 in better working order. Have been dealing w/ a bad SID for quite some time but was never sold on the "ironing" repair services that I've seen elsewhere.

Got my replacement ribbon today and fitted it. It's a bit of a pain to do but well worth the effort

My SID is f'ed up aswell so i found 5 cables for $12 from China, should get them next week so i really do hope they aren't crap.
This guy is great and detailed as needed..Can't wait to get ribbon in mail the sid2 pulled right out no worries I'm a little concerned about weather to use foam adhesive if they don't give me ribbon adhesive tape got on Ebay for 17.00
great vid, thanks a lot. i will do this soon for my '99 9-5. it went bad when the car was only about 2 years old. then the dealer fixed it, but it went bad again a few years later.

Wow, nice instructions. Very nice this is soooo much better than the other "2 minuet repair which is BS. Just a heads up you NEED TO CLEAN very well the connections. Figure at least 1/2 hour to get it right. Alcohol, Acetone, with a finish with a pencil eraser to brighten the connection ON THE BOARD ONLY. This guy is SUPER!!! wish i had found this one first. Took me about an hour and a half and it wasn't too painful. Just be careful aligning the ribbon cable ! Cheers
yes the back that the ribbon cable attaches to has the flat black rectangle around the outside. You'll see the faint points of contact for the ribbon cable if you hold it up to the light correctly.

ok first off very helpful video thank you!! second i took my sid apart about a week ago when i ordered my new ribbon cable. i just got my new ribbon cable today and i forgot which was the front or the back on the lcd screen. the back has the flat black rectangle around the outside and the gloss in the middle right? and the front is all the same black?

What contacts are you supposed to align on the LCD Panel? I have aligned them however the bottom half of the display seems to be shifted up.

How did the Ebay ribbon work? Did you need the soldering iron like they state on the listing?
Hello Jay. I dode the repair folw your instukcioms, and it was a sucsess, but my panel is still hotissing pixels in the same places as before. So i think the LCD screen is broken. Do you know where should i find this part whith delivery? Thanks for your help. Martin
I'm also looking at picking one up on Ebay. But theirs say you need a soldering iron to install it? So I was wondering how your install went. Did you have to solder it?
How do you see the connectors on the LCD? they look invisible xD
you can find the motorcycle meter bulb which small take out the dead bulb and you have to soldering the right direction .. bulb have two node find the right node feet when you want soldering.... i have fixed mine with this method

Great. My 2002 Saab 9-3 has a label on the unit that says SID2, but guess I'll have to take it apart first before I order the ribbon cable. All of the replacement parts I've found on ebay say to use a t tip iron, but none of the vids I've seen show doing that. Is it a special ribbon from pixelfix or do they all just skip that step?
-Also my ACC unit display is completely dead, haven't found any vids on that, can I assume the repair is similar? Anyone repaired the acc display?
How do you get that out of the car in the first place?
It's easy enough. just use a small flat blade screwdriver or blunt knife to carefully leaver the unit out from the dashboard being careful not to mark the dash facia or the front of the unit itself. It's just a case of unplugging it from the car then following the video on here :-)

Can I get the ribbon cable for the climate control sid to?
tin soldering?? You want to avoid any type of soldering in this procedure. Just use thin foam strips to make sure there is pressure holding the connections together. I used a few pieces of tape, but that's it.

Yes, I went ebay way as well, ordered both SID2 and SID1 and the ebay seller offere both for the same price - guess he realized the Saab business isn't getting better any time soon --- lol. But I am wondering if I can use some type of what looks like foam strip insulation instead of tin soldering...which I could do but ...well .....u know
