hi, sorry, late to the party... in your Playlist on Spotify "breadwinner" is nowhere to be found. i think that is a missed opportunity for it is on no major release and fairly little known. love the vids tho
big same lol. I've been an Everything Everything evangelist, much to the annoyance of most of my friends.. BUT THEY JUST NEED TO LISTEN TO ONE SONG, GOD DANGIT!!!
Smashed the Arc and Get to Heaven albums whilst at Uni and afterwards sadly, forgot about them for a few years. Fast forward 5 years something reminded me of them, resparked my love for their music and listened through Raw Data Feel whilst at work. Went to do the food shopping in my local coop that very evening and Jonathan Higgs walked past me. Honestly couldn't believe my eyes. Ended up chatting to him for a little bit, absolutely lovely man and it turns out he lives round the corner from me. Mad
Unquestionably my favorite band currently working. The variety of their sound, the offbeat lyricism, the wailing voice of Jonathan Higgs on every track. Always nice to see them get a shoutout!
The fact that he didn't mention Warm Healer is unfortunate. That song is absolutely insane to me. That drum and bass line combo is otherworldly. Definitely my favorite song on Get to Heaven.
That was the song that popped up on my Spotify Playlist radio and I was hooked ever since. I didn't get the title on the first day. Didn't think I'd find it again. Spotify didn't let me down. I feel like that song doesn't get the love it deserves. Never have I heard a bass line/hook (whatever it's called) that sounds so catchy that it doesn't leave your mind.
Holy shit thank you. I have never heard anyone mention it but fuck if it isn’t one of my favourite songs out there. It’s such a quietly confident piece, and it’s always hit me emotionally in a spot that I don’t think anything else reaches.
Everything Everything was a part of my childhood cuz my parents found the song Spring/Sun/Winter/Dread on a whim and noe the Get To Heaven album has been a part of our life for so long now. I'm happy you were able to explain how amazing they are.
I love NOTHING MORE than being unexpectedly exposed to some band I’ve never even HEARD before, only to discover that they’ve apparently been waiting to become my FAVORITE band all along, I just never knew it! THANK YOU!!! ❤️
Man Alvie is fantastic, photoshop handsome is a heavy hitter. Get to heaven was me and my best mates favourite album for a long time, it was really my gateway drug into more abstract music and I’m thankful. Regret, regret is a classic, and the first time I’d heard it I was shocked to find out it was a new release.
Been a minute since I watched and wow was I surprised to be able to put a face to the voice. Super happy to see your still creating and happy to see you covering an incredible band!
Discoverd Everything Everything a couple months ago while 'No Reptiles' was playing in a Spotify number radio. It was the first time in a long time I was immediately hooked on a band. So unique, so innovative. More people should listen to them. So thank you for the video!
I first discovered Everything Everything 12 years ago, before the release of their first album when they opened for Keane during their 2010 tour and I have been following their journey ever since. Such a fantastic band!
I've been loving these guys ever since Nothing But Thieves (which you should def check out if you haven't, Broken Machine is a piece of art) mentioned them as being one of their favorite bands. Get To Heaven is one of the best albums of the 2010's.
Glad to see these guys getting proper international recognition! Been following these guys since man alive, I’d say man alive, arc and get to heaven are the strongest but then again, could just be nostalgic. Just a great band, happy to see so many in the comments saying this vid was their first proper intro to them as well :)
Love to see EE getting appreciation that they deserve, Get To Heaven is still one of my favourite albums of the last decade if not the whole century. On top of all this, they sounds absolutely fantastic live.
Kudos for covering this amazing band, sadly still not too many people in the US know about them! I've been a long time fan of theirs since "Man Alive", which is to date still my favorite release of theirs. The song "Two for Nero" is in my opinion one of the best songs of all time, but literally every track on that record is a banger. While I love their subsequent albums as well, none of them have evoked the same powerful emotions and wonder in me as their debut.
Thanks for bringing this band to my attention man. I was kinda becoming worn out on music for some reason, but here comes your video and now i'm on the hype train for their new album. Can't stop listening to their songs
Went and saw them last night at the Roundhouse in London. Not only are their studio releases great, but they can actually perform as a live band and put on a great show. All the best British acts come from Manchester, and these guys are no exception.
I had never heard of this band before watching your video. Now I’m addicted to Everything Everything. This album is a masterpiece! THANK HEAPS FOR THAT!
Never clicked on a video faster since I knew the band and loved this album. The newer album is also a banger with catchy hooks and melodies. "Night of the long knives" is one of my favorite song. Great video 👍🏾
I saw them live last year in CO, it was phenomenal!! They were great when I first heard them and watched videos of live, but it seems they only get better every year, especially as Higgs has gotten more confident and grown into his vocal style more fully!
I really appreciated seeing them live 9 years ago, and to be honest, Jon's vocals were so crystalline, definitely more refined. What also kept my interest peaked for them have been the visuals and the directorial input by Jon, from him learning to work with glitch art to 3D, and now artificial intelligence.
Get To Heaven is one of the best albums of last decade, it's such a great, energetic, biting commentary/teardown of modern society, full of punchy hooks and punchy lyrics that'll get stuck in your head on repeat. It's one of those albums that you're likely to immediately fall in love with and keep coming back to it. And the album cover is *chef's kiss* so good! It captures what it's like to listen to music.
My dad used to play get to heaven in the car all the time as I grew up so I have a weird sort of nostalgia attached to everything everything. I started listening to them again more recently and it's nice to know that my opinion hasn't completely been tinted by nostalgia, it really is a great album.
A bit late here, but man I think Reanimator is severely underrated. It really is the themes, the lyrics which are in absolutely harrowing contrast to the poppiness of the whole record, and their discog in general really, which make it. A grower for sure, but up there for me!
YOOO just here to say HELL YEA...!! EE are my favourite band, I love their music and listen to it regularly. It's awesome to see a video randomly pop up on my recommended appreciating their music! All of their lyrics are so deep, interesting and meaningful, and they have such a unique sound, I love it so much haha
I found then because of your Spotify activity (where it shares what people are listening too currently) a couple of years ago, the song you where playing was “cough cough” and instantly I was hooked. They became my favorite band ever and I have not stopped loving them one bit.
Literally my favourite band of all time! Amazing video on them, they deserve so much more praise than they get and I am so disappointed that I missed the call for videos on your Twitter by ONE DAY!!
Saw them live at The Roundhouse in London tonight - INCREDIBLE. Last saw them on Get To Heaven tour in 2015, can't overstate how much better as a live band they have become. Awesome.
😂 I forgot about that! Apparently they trade off between singing “who’s gonna sit on your fence…” and “who’s gonna sit on your face…” - you can never really tell in that track
I had never heard of Everything Everything before this video, but since watching it when it came out I've been listening to Get To Heaven nonstop, so thank you very much for introducing me to them!!! What a special band with an incredible sound! P.S. I like the format with you showing your face and talking directly to us. It doesn't hurt that you look good doing it!
Learned about them when Jeremy Prichard filled in on bass for Foals on their 2019 tour. Decided to check them out because of the hype the Foals community was giving. Yes the vocals are an acquired taste, but it was also the thing that brought me in even more. Really solid writing, and catchy hooks, interesting ideas. And yes, I will bring up foals until someone does a video / essay on them
@@terratom5268 I’m jealous. No European acts that I like are touring in the US right now or this year at all. I was supposed to see Foals and Local Natives in may of 2020 on 2 back to back dates. Gutted when the canceled.
Hey! Fun new format, Frank! It was great to see you tell us what you've loved about Everything Everything. I haven't listened to them but I will check their stuff out now! Speaking of British art pop, would you ever be up for talking about Wild Beasts? I'd absolutely adore getting your perspective!
I haven't kept up with them, but I had their first album on repeat back in 2012 senior year. There were so many out of the box British groups during that time, Everything Everything, Django Django, Fun Adults, Dutch Uncles, Glass Animals, Friendly Fires etc have all made some seriously good albums since then
Raw Data Feel is definitely shaping to be possibly their best album so far for me, a lot of the album is really unique and amazing. Still stuck on the bass line from Warm Healer though!
great video, which goes so into depth about why this band are so incredible!! seeing them on thursday after almost 4 years of being a fan, and am unbelievably excited.
first song i heard was Distant Past, and was instantly confused. immediately checked out the album after and was hooked. super hyped for Raw Data Feel!!
came back to this video. didnt find them through you, but im very grateful for your work in this video. i saw them live recently and i wanted to just say thanks ! EE is gonna put out a new album soon called Mountainhead.
This is so weird, suddenly RE-ANIMATOR became my favourite album, really just outta nowhere. And now you drop this video, gets me exited to listen to the other albums! Awesome video man, keep it up.
I met your channel with your analysis on Ok Computer and i loved it, so I went to your other Radiohead videos. And then i got here... men, thank you for EE what an astonishing, refreshing band! It sounds like Radiohead met Capital Cities at a MGMT party in Zach de la Rocha's apartment. Thanks.
I somehow have never heard of them but they sound very interesting, definitely going to dive deeper. Revised: I've checked out more & am quite frankly blown away, this is more than just music, it's an experience.
Fantastic Band! GTH is one of my favorite albums, and even though the lyrics and vocals were a little jarring at first, I wouldn’t have it any other way. They’re also great guys! Met them in Pittsburgh and they were so kind.
Thank you for making a video on EE! Been one of my favorite bands since I first heard them on the fifa soundtrack 😂 I remember belting the lyrics getting ready for school in the morning. Wow that’s over half a decade ago. They’ve been on a crazy run!
Heard about them all the way back when the official vid for My Kz Ur Bf came out and never looked back. One of the first bands i discovered 100% randomly on youtube and i was just so into them but i couldnt figure out how to get their album and at the time their were no streaming services. had to import it via amazon here in canada. But it remains my favourite of there's it's messy and divisive but it's bursting with ideas and creativity and I love that every song is so different from the last. I love that they continue to evolve with every release and I'm so happy theyre still around doing it.
Thanks to everyone who sent in a clip for this week's end credits✌ Join the conversation @moremiddle8 on Twitter & Insta

"Only as good as my god" from Deluxe edition of "Get to Heaven" is a masterpiece. So underrated song
I love the track so much, great closer!
Love that one! "Hapsburg Lippp" is great too!
@@iv-500 It’s a ridiculous sounding song. Which is a good thing. This album and all the b-sides are excellent. No filler to be found.
It's a banger of a song. So evil. I love it!

Warm Healer is an incredible track from Get to Heaven as well, so fantastic
