Smashed the Arc and Get to Heaven albums whilst at Uni and afterwards sadly, forgot about them for a few years.
Fast forward 5 years something reminded me of them, resparked my love for their music and listened through Raw Data Feel whilst at work. Went to do the food shopping in my local coop that very evening and Jonathan Higgs walked past me. Honestly couldn't believe my eyes. Ended up chatting to him for a little bit, absolutely lovely man and it turns out he lives round the corner from me. Mad

The fact that he didn't mention Warm Healer is unfortunate. That song is absolutely insane to me. That drum and bass line combo is otherworldly. Definitely my favorite song on Get to Heaven.
That was the song that popped up on my Spotify Playlist radio and I was hooked ever since.
I didn't get the title on the first day. Didn't think I'd find it again. Spotify didn't let me down.
I feel like that song doesn't get the love it deserves. Never have I heard a bass line/hook (whatever it's called) that sounds so catchy that it doesn't leave your mind.

"No Reptiles" is one of the best minimalist music videos I have ever seen. It's so freaking powerful, and the music just absolutely rocks!
I've been loving these guys ever since Nothing But Thieves (which you should def check out if you haven't, Broken Machine is a piece of art) mentioned them as being one of their favorite bands. Get To Heaven is one of the best albums of the 2010's.

I first discovered Everything Everything 12 years ago, before the release of their first album when they opened for Keane during their 2010 tour and I have been following their journey ever since. Such a fantastic band!
I analyzed Zero Pharoh for a college literature course and got an A, and now they have a special place in my heart forever. Thank you for making this

Discoverd Everything Everything a couple months ago while 'No Reptiles' was playing in a Spotify number radio. It was the first time in a long time I was immediately hooked on a band. So unique, so innovative. More people should listen to them. So thank you for the video!

Love to see EE getting appreciation that they deserve, Get To Heaven is still one of my favourite albums of the last decade if not the whole century. On top of all this, they sounds absolutely fantastic live.

Everything Everything was a part of my childhood cuz my parents found the song Spring/Sun/Winter/Dread on a whim and noe the Get To Heaven album has been a part of our life for so long now. I'm happy you were able to explain how amazing they are.

Get to heaven was me and my best mates favourite album for a long time, it was really my gateway drug into more abstract music and I’m thankful.
Regret, regret is a classic, and the first time I’d heard it I was shocked to find out it was a new release.
I'm so glad people are finally talking about EE, loved them for years and I saw them open for Foals in Cardiff last year and they were amazing

I somehow have never heard of them but they sound very interesting, definitely going to dive deeper.
Revised: I've checked out more & am quite frankly blown away, this is more than just music, it's an experience.
Get To Heaven is one of the best albums of last decade, it's such a great, energetic, biting commentary/teardown of modern society, full of punchy hooks and punchy lyrics that'll get stuck in your head on repeat. It's one of those albums that you're likely to immediately fall in love with and keep coming back to it. And the album cover is *chef's kiss* so good! It captures what it's like to listen to music.
Just caught them live last night and the energy they have is unparalleled! Such a fun time. Great video by the way, I've subscribed 😁👍

My dad used to play get to heaven in the car all the time as I grew up so I have a weird sort of nostalgia attached to everything everything. I started listening to them again more recently and it's nice to know that my opinion hasn't completely been tinted by nostalgia, it really is a great album.

Learned about them when Jeremy Prichard filled in on bass for Foals on their 2019 tour. Decided to check them out because of the hype the Foals community was giving. Yes the vocals are an acquired taste, but it was also the thing that brought me in even more. Really solid writing, and catchy hooks, interesting ideas.
And yes, I will bring up foals until someone does a video / essay on them

I was supposed to see Foals and Local Natives in may of 2020 on 2 back to back dates. Gutted when the canceled.

Went and saw them last night at the Roundhouse in London. Not only are their studio releases great, but they can actually perform as a live band and put on a great show. All the best British acts come from Manchester, and these guys are no exception.
I really appreciated seeing them live 9 years ago, and to be honest, Jon's vocals were so crystalline, definitely more refined. What also kept my interest peaked for them have been the visuals and the directorial input by Jon, from him learning to work with glitch art to 3D, and now artificial intelligence.
Been a minute since I watched and wow was I surprised to be able to put a face to the voice. Super happy to see your still creating and happy to see you covering an incredible band!

I agree with everything (everything) you said in this video - RE-Animator was a bit of a tangent but I'm glad they're back on track. Bad friday and especially teletype is a banger! I know they're releasing a new single I think on the 28th March, so that's exciting!

My favourite band in the world. Just incredible. Eccentric but so catchy and insanely good musicality and production.
I started compiling my "best album" list back in the 70s with the likes of Physical Graffiti and Peter Gabriel's Modern Love. Think of all the amazing albums since then,,GTH is in my opinion the best.62 now and I swear I have listened to it 300 times.

A Fever Dream is their most polished record in my opinion, but either way they're a remarkably consistent and original band that keeps putting out great stuff. They remind me of peak Wild Beasts but with far more approachability.

Fantastic Band! GTH is one of my favorite albums, and even though the lyrics and vocals were a little jarring at first, I wouldn’t have it any other way. They’re also great guys! Met them in Pittsburgh and they were so kind.

Kudos for covering this amazing band, sadly still not too many people in the US know about them! I've been a long time fan of theirs since "Man Alive", which is to date still my favorite release of theirs. The song "Two for Nero" is in my opinion one of the best songs of all time, but literally every track on that record is a banger. While I love their subsequent albums as well, none of them have evoked the same powerful emotions and wonder in me as their debut.

also check out Wild Beasts if you like these guys, they’re not quite as bombastic as EE but they scratch a very similar itch with eclectic lyrics and vocals. Two Dancers is one of my favorite indie rock/art pop albums of all time

Been a massive fan of Everything Everything since before their second album too. Get To Heaven is such an amazing album from start to finish. Re-animator has some great deeper cuts like It Was A Monstering, Lost Powers and Moonlight with some interesting chord progressions. Hyped for the upcoming album
I had never heard of Everything Everything before this video, but since watching it when it came out I've been listening to Get To Heaven nonstop, so thank you very much for introducing me to them!!! What a special band with an incredible sound!

Saw them live at The Roundhouse in London tonight - INCREDIBLE. Last saw them on Get To Heaven tour in 2015, can't overstate how much better as a live band they have become. Awesome.
PS Look out for Pizza Boy off Raw Data Feel - it's excellent (they played it live tonight)
Heard about them all the way back when the official vid for My Kz Ur Bf came out and never looked back. One of the first bands i discovered 100% randomly on youtube and i was just so into them but i couldnt figure out how to get their album and at the time their were no streaming services. had to import it via amazon here in canada. But it remains my favourite of there's it's messy and divisive but it's bursting with ideas and creativity and I love that every song is so different from the last. I love that they continue to evolve with every release and I'm so happy theyre still around doing it.

I haven't kept up with them, but I had their first album on repeat back in 2012 senior year. There were so many out of the box British groups during that time, Everything Everything, Django Django, Fun Adults, Dutch Uncles, Glass Animals, Friendly Fires etc have all made some seriously good albums since then
I feel privileged that I managed to pick up a an arc pressing a couple years back never letting go of it. Seeing them in Bristol on the 11th too

I found then because of your Spotify activity (where it shares what people are listening too currently) a couple of years ago, the song you where playing was “cough cough” and instantly I was hooked. They became my favorite band ever and I have not stopped loving them one bit.
This band is the best. Such thoughtful concepts behind each album (Brexit politics in GTH, bicarmel mentality and fatbergs? in Re-Animator and this new album seems to be focused on AI and randomisation - very Kid A) and they never fail to deliver with the catchiest songwriting. However their songwriting can get very complex as well (a lot of tracks on Re-Animator for example, especially Lord of the Trapdoor).
I have been listening to them for many years now and I always love seeing shoutouts like this bc they so truly deserve the attention. So unique and I hope they keep doing what they do. They can also pull off some pretty harrowing ballads (Mercury and Me, The Mariana)
I saw them live last year in CO, it was phenomenal!! They were great when I first heard them and watched videos of live, but it seems they only get better every year, especially as Higgs has gotten more confident and grown into his vocal style more fully!

Re-Animator’s great. It’s one for Radiohead fans and it’s a grower but it definitely gets there and more. Imo Get to Heaven > Re-Animator > Arc > Man Alive > A Fever Dream
Thank you for featuring them! I discovered them back in 2012 when I heard cough cough from iTunes (free song). It's been 10 years and I've seen them live ONCE. I really hope they come back to Canada (even in North America just to tour). I agree with most of what you said (especially the deluxe tracks off arc...no plan and distrikt are 👌👌👌) but personally, I love Man Alive. The tracks from this record need a couple of listens before you fully appreciate them. There's also an orchestra version floating around on TH-cam that I deffo recommend!

This is so weird, suddenly RE-ANIMATOR became my favourite album, really just outta nowhere. And now you drop this video, gets me exited to listen to the other albums! Awesome video man, keep it up.
A bit late here, but man I think Reanimator is severely underrated. It really is the themes, the lyrics which are in absolutely harrowing contrast to the poppiness of the whole record, and their discog in general really, which make it. A grower for sure, but up there for me!
