they're definitely going to be in my top 5 artists of the year, they're sogooooood and I've been listening to devotion, teen dream and bloom on repeat since January
Yeah, I remember my introduction to beach house through that song being used in an episode of new girl where a character is thought to have cancer and it's the most beautiful outer ever to an episode in tv
Honestly, there's a comment on TH-cam that somebody wrote on the Space video where their brother had passed away and this song felt like they were closer to their sibling. It was beautiful ❤️
Beach House has continuously evolved, while remaining true to themselves, that's their main quality. They make small adjustments each time, yet their sound and songs are all very distinct of one another. I discovered them early on, and it was unlike anything I had heard before. The mix of hopefullness and melancholy, a bittersweet sensation, perfect for a cozy autumn afternoon, or late at night. I will always have a special thing for their debut and Devotion, and I secretly hope they make something reminiscent of their early days one more time, but I'm equally excited for the soundscapes they created for Marin's Dream. They are simply the gift that keeps on giving.
Beach House is one of those bands that hits me right in the soul. Excellent job with the motion graphics backgrounds, you did a great job aligning with their hypnotic feel! Keep up the great work.
Their music is so antique-ely fresh, it’s so impactful and their sound is so recognizable and so comfortable. Cocteau twins and Beach house are my two favorite dream pop exemplars
Elegy to the Void is stunningly gorgeous and one of my favorite songs of all time. I also have very fond memories of Zebra. I used to play it in the car with my younger son when he was around preschool age, and he always loved the "Zebra song".
We kinda trolled our wedding guests by putting 'Somewhere Tonight' as the "official" last song of the night 😆 Midway through (after drunkenly-earnest attempts by some couples at a slow dance) the DJ switched it to something more uptempo to cap things off 😁
Whenever I listen to Beach House I feel like I am setting alone on a white empty room, or in a dreamlike surreal film like Alejandro Iñaritu and Andrei Tarkovsky.
depression cherry was the first album that I've listened from them and it seriously changed my life im not even joking. the first time i heard levivation it made me cry because of how nostalgic it sound, but at the same time, it was melancholic but comforting.
I wish they had mentioned the prolific Cocteau Twins by name (they played a song sample from them). The Cocteau Twins were quite original in they way that they made electric guitar sound like synthesizers. Also, the singer-chick would make up her own sort of words and language for the songs, instead of singing actual lyrics. The result was mystifying. And her operatic soprano voice was utterly heavenly. The Cocteau Twins are arguably an equal to Beach House in the sense of 1) writing prolifically, 2) writing challenging, mature compositions and 3) achieving an other-worldly, even Spiritual effect to their sound. Look at the TH-cam comments to their songs. You will find almost NO negativity, and instead a great outpouring of emotion, tears, tenderness, hurt, care and love. Same for Beach House!
I never saw beach house as anything except dreampop, until their latest album. I don't know, but for me, 7 feels like their first step into shoegaze, because of songs Like Dark Spring and the single Alien.
One of my fav artists that i really feel like do dreampop really well is "Dreams We've Had" His album "Everything and You" is one of my comfort albums and it just sounds so soothing, yet so filled with emotion at the same time.
I really like the fact that this is something I’ve always had in my mind From the moment I met them and tray to find more music similar to them Which was impossible I could hear pieces of their style on their influences and other bands in their gender But I realized that what I felt as dreampop was just beach house Also Alex playing style influenced me so much on my own playing, I love him, he’s so elegant and dreamy, so clean, sparkly and melancholic
I have been waiting for you to do this with my favorite band of all time and here it is. Thank you so much. Your craftmanship with content creation is beyond spectacular.
it's crazy that Baltimore is so stuffed with incredible music, some of their biggest breakout acts, i at least have no recollection of ever getting around to seeing.....o i think I'd have remembered them though, of course heard the name plenty, but i think i might have been out of town a few years when they were getting started...??)
While listening to their albums in chronological order - their song Irene is what solidified their spot in my top 5; it’s crazy I remember the first time hearing that song at like 6 in the morning as the sun rose up, and I had chills running down my arms😂it felt like sex honestly, and same thing happened with Dark Spring
I’m so grateful my ex introduced me to this band over 3yrs ago when we began. Such an amazing band although my ex would sing their songs to me it makes me sad but I still love the music so much I stop crying after awhile.
I don't agree with the commentator's opinion that BH don't stray far from their established ground. They're like most bands. Always tweaking. For example, Radiohead always sound like Radiohead even though eg, 'Kid A' is a very different type of album than 'Rainbows'. And I would argue that if you were to play 'Teen Dream' followed by '7' to someone who hadn't heard the band, I don't think they'd necessarily recognise them as the same band. The two albums seem quite different to each other. Victoria's doesn't sound the same in 7 as on Teen Dream. I could go on......
agreed. even with their current new (wonderful) releases they sound very different to any of their other work yet again, but with the same roots and soul beneath.
Well.. There's also some of Mew's albums when it comes to the genre. But yeah, I don't know anything about their old classics, but Depression Cherry is just... god damnnn...
One of my favorite bands ever...Actually I appreciate they stay in the same realm of sound over time. Because no one does what they do so well. Teen Dream, Bloom, and Depression Cherry are really great albums
I've just realized that The Weeknd sampled Beach House Master of None and Cocteau Twins Heaven or Las Vegas (which you both mentioned) in his early mixtapes Trilogy. I don't think that's a cocoincidence I know he's a MJ fan I wonder if he wanted that dreamy sound back than
Teen Dream is special because it came out during the height of indie music and still managed to break new ground. It’s their most iconic album, for sure. Depression Cherry will always be my favourite though. There isn’t a skippable track on the album.
I love Space Song or Myth as every other (sane) person BUT y'all don't sleep on Wild, L'Inconnue, Girl of the Year or probably their best track of all - Silver Soul!!! Devotion is a fantastic low-key album too
Myth is seriously one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard.
me too
PPP . days of candy
Agreed. Myth is so beautiful it makes me cry. Sometimes it's almost too hard to listen to because it makes me very emotional.
one of my fave songs for album opener
Same bro
I can't stop listening to Beach House at this point.
They're so consistent, it's insane
they're definitely going to be in my top 5 artists of the year, they're sogooooood and I've been listening to devotion, teen dream and bloom on repeat since January
Same and I'm just getting started (again) with Teen Dream. Thank Your Lucky Stars is up next!
SAME
me, but replace Beach House with MBV & Slowdive
Space Song makes me feel that nostalgia sad feeling since the first note
Man does Take Care destroy me every time I hear it
Yeah, I remember my introduction to beach house through that song being used in an episode of new girl where a character is thought to have cancer and it's the most beautiful outer ever to an episode in tv
Yeah drake killed that fr
Same :( it reminds me so much of 5 years ago
@@mrsynth2643 omg same i got into beach house because of new girl too lol
@@marciafrancisca8356 yeah good show good band
Bluebird is the most underrated song from depression cherry and my favorite, it takes me to another world.
I would not ever try to catch youuu
@@skyferrari where are you gonna go now? :(
It truly is! ❤️❤️❤️
That and beyond love
Bluebird is my fav on DC. So good.
that transition from myth to space song at 00:14 is one of the many reasons why i love your channel :)
yeah no one seems to be talking about it
‘thats him officer! thats the man who’s stalking my Spotify!’
He would be missing things on mine, I would wager, I will gave to take a glance.
Space song is the closest thing to heaven I’ve heard in a while
imo PPP is better

Beach House is one of my favorites right now. Makes me feel like I'm floating in space.
Listening to their first album was crazy and surreal for me, because I couldn’t help but think “wow..they really made this in 2007??”
Their music is so antique-ely fresh, it’s so impactful and their sound is so recognizable and so comfortable. Cocteau twins and Beach house are my two favorite dream pop exemplars
The editing is top-notch, well done.
So glad I got to see them twice. "Teen Dream" is one of the best albums of the 2010’s. So many great albums.
Elegy to the Void is stunningly gorgeous and one of my favorite songs of all time.
I also have very fond memories of Zebra. I used to play it in the car with my younger son when he was around preschool age, and he always loved the "Zebra song".

Thank Your Lucky Stars doesn’t get the recognition it deserves!! Rough Song is impeccable

I have their whole discography on vinyl 🖤

Their song Aiyana is one of my favorites!
I really like the fact that this is something I’ve always had in my mind
From the moment I met them and tray to find more music similar to them
Which was impossible
I could hear pieces of their style on their influences and other bands in their gender
But I realized that what I felt as dreampop was just beach house
Also
Alex playing style influenced me so much on my own playing, I love him, he’s so elegant and dreamy, so clean, sparkly and melancholic
that transition from myth to space song sounded utterly natural
I don’t have time to watch this but when I can, oh my god I’m so excited to, beach house is my shit
I'm in love with every Beach House song..The 'ethereal' emotions they evoke with their music ❤️❤️❤️
You know it's serious when you know every song 😀
Bloom is EVERYTHING
My favorite band of all time
I have been waiting for you to do this with my favorite band of all time and here it is. Thank you so much. Your craftmanship with content creation is beyond spectacular.
Devotion is one of the most perfect albums I've ever heard. There this rawness to it that I cannot explain and has so much honesty.
Man, as a fan of the group itself, I am so thankful you did this video about the two musical legends of DreamPop. Thank you💕
I’ve been waiting for a video on Beach House. Thank you for this, well done as always!

Got into 7 some days ago, it fckn amazing, the experimentation makes them sound fresh and they killed it ❤️
Knew you'd make a Beach House video eventually, thanks man!
Seriously it's the ambiguous spaces of the sound that allow people to read so much into their music. It's lovely really!
Did anybody notice how to video is published in 3:4 aspect ratio?
I think it's a synonym for the nostalgic dream pop-y sounds Beach House creates
The beginning where he mixes the two songs is 🔥🔥🔥
My favorite band for well over a decade now. Thanks for this!
Teen Dream was my loyal companion while I was mourning my dads death.
Forever in love with this band.
words cannot describe i much i love beach house
While listening to their albums in chronological order - their song Irene is what solidified their spot in my top 5; it’s crazy I remember the first time hearing that song at like 6 in the morning as the sun rose up, and I had chills running down my arms😂it felt like sex honestly, and same thing happened with Dark Spring
The coda of Silver Soul still gives me goosebumps.
Bloom is so absolutely beautiful.
you are too relatable for the kind of music I listen too, I'd love to have a stream party man
I’m so grateful my ex introduced me to this band over 3yrs ago when we began. Such an amazing band although my ex would sing their songs to me it makes me sad but I still love the music so much I stop crying after awhile.
I heard a rumour that theres no video not sponsored by curiosity stream, where you can see his streaming service Nebula

Every Beach House song is a good Beach House song. They are perfection
i swear idk how many times i’ve been telling people how unique beach house is and that there’s literally no other music like theirs.
Well.. There's also some of Mew's albums when it comes to the genre. But yeah, I don't know anything about their old classics, but Depression Cherry is just... god damnnn...
As far as I know, dream pop was first used as genre name by A.R.Kane duo to describe their own music.
One of my favorite bands ever...Actually I appreciate they stay in the same realm of sound over time. Because no one does what they do so well. Teen Dream, Bloom, and Depression Cherry are really great albums
I they really explored in once twice melody and i love the 80s’ theme its great!!

Shoutout to Beach House, innovative in so many ways ☁️
I love this channel so much. Awesome coverage and let’s me explore new music.
i wish this video was 27 seconds longer
Thanks for this, one of my favorite bands for sure!
6:55 LMAOO.
When artists don't experiment, they're stale, when they do, they're sellouts.
The fucking hypocrisy of soo many people.
Teen Dream is special because it came out during the height of indie music and still managed to break new ground. It’s their most iconic album, for sure. Depression Cherry will always be my favourite though. There isn’t a skippable track on the album.
yes, i do love beach house but this isn’t a video about Weezer
LOL dude, I’m not ready to subject myself to the whirlwind of a discography just yet 😅
Can you do a fleet foxes or a modest mouse video. Also, Bloom is my favorite Beach House record
Thank Your Lucky Stars is one of my favourite albums of all time
Reminds me of Montreal's Stars from the mid-2000's. Her voice is similar to Amy Millan's voice.
Can you please do a video about Grimes?
Personally, I always described their music as "emotionally vulnerable".
I love bloody valentine and beach house but had no idea they were somehow connected :D
They're not
Saw them open for Fleet Foxes. Amazing performance.
Thanks, I randomly found and started listening to beach house and always wondered what was up with them.
Shoegaze is a badass dream-pop band name
I fucking love them.
you make videos of literally all my fav artists. cant we be friends pls
Ugh I love Beach House. One again another great video.
Was so impressed with the previous Arctic Monkeys' video, seeing you reviewing my other fav, i am definitely sold now. Subscribed. ❤️
GOD i love beach house. i literally wanna dance to take care at my wedding.
4:3, thank you! Best aspect ratio
Tbh I only listen to del cherry (I find it more accesible? ) but I love that album to death. Space song and wildflower are flawless for me.
Heaven or Las Vegas is not "Psychedelic Noise Rock"
Make a video on Sigur Rós please

I love Space Song or Myth as every other (sane) person
BUT
y'all don't sleep on Wild, L'Inconnue, Girl of the Year or probably their best track of all - Silver Soul!!! Devotion is a fantastic low-key album too
If anyone's wondering about the beach house sample, it is Weeknd's "The Party"
Whenever im depressed, beach house is there to help me go through it
Love beach house can’t stand shoegaze. Sounds like broken vacuums
Bloom is a perfect album
Dude you’ve gotta do one on Sigur Rós
Shoegaze with gliding guitars. branching new genres
