The story is based on a 1981 murder case that took the nation by storm. After killing his landlord, the murderer, Yann Cheyenne Johnson, claimed that he was possessed by an evil spirit, making it the first case in U.S. history in which the defendant used the defense of “possessed by a ghost,” and thus became known as the “Devil's Murder” case.
