I guess Smith doesn't even notice/care any more that the pick-up band are just playing Led Zep riffs. This slow, steady embarrassing fall from grace is painful to watch.
...and, yes, I know it's supposedly the Stooges song. Or maybe it isn't. Either way, it's garbage. And this is coming from someone who was diehard Fall fan for a good 15 years.
***** Maybe so. In fairness, I haven’t been to a Fall gig since circa The Light User Syndrome (not counting, of course, a gig a few years ago, where MES didn’t bother to show up). I still remain interested in the output, however - and I give every album a chance. But everything just seems woefully cobbled together to me. Which I find saddening more than anything else. As an aside, are you aware there’s currently footage of Hanley/Hanley/Brix knocking about, effectively functioning as a Fall covers band? That is equally dubious, of course, but there’s a discipline to the playing, which this stuff sorely lacks.
Nicholas Kelly I am indeed aware of that. A few years ago I promoted Martin Bramah's Factory Star when the Hanley Brothers were part of the lineup. Absolutely ace th-cam.com/video/tNmDrrd5Nw8/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/ej2Gym5Y3ao/w-d-xo.html
Agreed, Thom. All these years in and The Fall still produce brilliance such as this.
Amazing
There is still that, school band's first rehearsal thing isn't there?
wow that is how it should be done.
Two drummers again. Just ace.

Nicholas Kelly Each to their own, but I think that you are very wrong. I love the searing vocals and the urgency of the band's delivery.
