This is a classic Irish soda bread recipe, cross and all! If you try to eat it straight from the oven, as Nigel advises, it will be a bit gummy in texture inside. Better to leave it cool for half an hour before slicing. And it's best eaten on the day it's made although it's also delicious toasted the next day.
Our first attempt at bagels ended up on the lawn but the birds wouldn't eat them either, we had to pick them all up and throw them out

Oh, so you made soda bread😉
I’ve been making soda bread since 2020 lockdown. I just can’t stand the faff of making yeast bread anymore. I never put sugar in mine unless I’m doing a fruit version.
This is just basic Soda Bread that my Nana used to make all the time from her mother and now I do. How can he pass this off as his own recipe?

I usually love Slater´s tips, but this ´loaf´ is utterly disgusting. Bicarb salt sugar yogurt milk... is not bread, but an anti-poison emetic.
I’ve just watched his toad in the hole , it’s from years ago…. But, the Yorkshire isn’t cooked properly 🤦.
Really not good and wrong, I do like him but… really pretentious and not right.
The episode I watched was his Real Food series, please anyone who can’t cook Yorkshires don’t follow… but, everyone can can’t they 🤷♂️
