    I have loved The Breakout ever since it came out in The CVO form. I remember seeing it at The International Motorcycle Show a few years back and I fell hard for this bike. In my opinion it is one of the best looking Harley's and if I didn't have my 07 Softail I would have a Breakout. Great Vlog Matt. Keep up the great work.

    I have the 2014 breakout with Vance/ Hines 2 into 2 Big radius pipes. Arlen Ness Monster air sucker Filter. I am retired Army and this is my stress release. this and my drums. for some reason everyone wants to race me? even cars. I have no idea why. I just ride for myself and the enjoyment of the wind in my face. Killer bike.

    Great video Matt- never saw my (2016) FXSB here before.
    I agree somewhat with the handling- my first turn I immediately scraped the pegs. It’s rough on the highway, but I do 200 miles round trips to San Diego, Ventura, Santa Barbara.
    My wife picked it out because she said it was sexy- can’t discourage the wife when it comes to buying a bike!! She also picked out the FLHXS Dave sold us.
    If a softail isn’t working for your long trip, make sure you have garage space for that second touring bike!!

    I've always liked that chopper look, that's exactly why I bought a breakout, I did put some big radius pipes on and I'm thinking about getting some 14-in bars, just not very comfortable other than that I absolutely love it

    When I was in the in the market for my new Harley I Was between the softail Slim S & the Break out.. but then the salesman told me that it was difficult to make turned with the fat tire. Being my first Harley I just decided to go with your Slim S and I don't regret it I love it!! Lol Thanks Matt for the video.. 👍🏻

    hi guys, I'm 5,6 slim build and have this model HD in denim white and she fits perfectly for me and is quite the show stopper DownUnder. She is perfect for me in every way and I know the envy of lots of heavy duty guys who defiantly look twice. I use a air hawk for my pillion passengers including sissy bar and they seem very happy with that set up x

    You stepped up your game Matt. I expected nothing less. A lot of info. Some back story on the Breakout really keeps the attention of the audience imho. Some info on what this bike was built for. And as usual your opinion on what type of rider would most likely enjoy this bike. Your audio / visual was on point. Very professional. Good job !

    Having been riding a Breakout since May '13, I'd have to disagree with your comments about the BO's handling. Once you can the original footpegs the BO leans nicely - so much so that I was scraping the edges of the Bassani turn-outs (I measured only 1" of tread at the edges that I don't use.). Also, like you said, replacing the front springs with Progressives makes a big difference, as does changing to a Shotgun shock for the rear. I think the drag bar was a stupid idea, and replaced mine with the 14" mini-ape HD sells. It completely changed the character of the bike and went from a clam position to a more "normal" laid-back Harley position.

    As the owner of a 2015 Breakout, I have to disagree with some of the limitations you stated. I do long distance, twisties, all weather, etc... The rider would be the only real limitation on is bike. Would I prefer to do twisties on my Concours C14? Of course.
    Power is another story. My bike is mostly stock and I can peg the speedo on it! I laugh at people that think they need more power. For what?
    I am not bashing your video. At all. I just wanted to add my personal experience. I put a lot of miles on my bike and I do not hang out in bars. I got the bike partly due to the comfort and the sportiness. Looking cool is icing on the cake!
    Lastly, I solved my cornering issues by going to the Metzeler tires and doing power on turns. FYI

      phineashenshaw what do you mean power on turns?

    • @phineashenshaw
      @phineashenshaw 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Most people when they turn a corner on a motorcycle, they tend to brake or coast. Since this bike is low to the ground, you have to roll on the throttle when you start your turn. This raises up the bike enough to get you around a turn without scraping.
      I slow down to the a speed a little less than I want to make the turn, then start throttling up slowly as I start the turn. It takes some practice to do it right. I rarely scrape the pegs anymore!

    One thing I really like about this one is the width of the front tire. I'm not so crazy about the ginormous rear tires, but I love the extra girth on that 21". Would love to see that tire size on the Wide Glide...or the rear wheel of the Wide Glide on this one.

    Great review as always right on point! If you like the break out styling but would prefer a better handling ride go with the C V O Pro Street. I could not and still find it hard to believe the handling differences between the two bikes. My 2013 Breakout could not begin to corner like my Pro Street! The only question I have for you Matt is why does Harley put a bias tire on the front rim and a radial in the rear and would putting a radial up front affect the handling in any way? Does anyone know?

      Get the twin cam. The m8s have the smaller ugly tank (less fue)l. I also believe the rake is different, I could be wrong. M8s sound similar to Japanese bikes with the scissor gear whine. Throw some cams, exhaust, air cleaner and a good tune and you'll not only sound better than the m8s but also quicker than a 117 m8.
      Edit 5-24. My 17' BreakOut is actually tuned to the numbers as a 131 build. 126hp, 141 tq. No reliability issues as of yet. I wouldn't want any quicker. If I did, I'd buy a Hayabusa.

      You should be okay on it. It has forward controls so that is better for you. You’ll be slightly too tall but welcome to my world.

    Great video Matt! Appreciate your thoughts and recommendations on this. Looks like a great bike, definitely something I am leaning toward acquiring in the future. Is there a video that you have done that filters HD bikes into categories such as long distance, mountain/winding roads or the city? FYI I recently acquired an 01 Softail Heritage Classic and am looking to go to Sturgis from the East Coast and wanted to get some of your recommendations on how to prepare for that trek on the hog.
    Also, I was trying look for that helmet you have while doing this video. Where can I find that particular helmet? Much thanks and look forward to more of your videos!

      Amon Zanpakuto They sell them all over. It's a Simpson outlaw bandit. I don't really have them categorized like that. Just 2017 reviews and everything else.

    does the bike have a tendency to lean to the right

    • @f.robertfalbo9800
      @f.robertfalbo9800 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      What? No it doesn't, but it is heavier on the left side - mine more so due to 3" Primo belt drive open primary.

    • @ad1960rag
      @ad1960rag 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just a review review i seen by guy on youtube motonewbrider. He said the whels are not aligned sounded like bullshit

    • @f.robertfalbo9800
      @f.robertfalbo9800 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The rear wheel alignment on the BO can cause it to want to go left or right. The BO has a mark on the right side for alignment, but no mark on the left side so it has to be eyeballed! If the right side rear axle is too far back, it will cause the bike to want to go left, inducing a slight right lean when ridden.

    probably the mostly planted feeling harley due to that large rear tire also one of the cooler looking. but in terms of practicality forget it.
