I was lucky enough to have been at this show. Not yet sixteen years old. Sitting fifth row center, just out of camera view in the photo on the back of the album. Walking on Sunshine. Also, Larry Coryell played that night before Roy.
It is often said that Roy's playing was never really captured on record, but for me this track is the perfect representation of his style. His tones, technique, and dynamics are just mind blowing.
Roy was a guitar player like no other, seen and heard Roy do tricks on the guitar,to this day still haven't heard ,the man was a legend playing that old 53 Tele, a guitar players guitar player.roy was the man.
Amazing, screaming strings, in your face tone , blinding technique.... a master of his instrument.....he didn't seek fame but stayed true to his vision of what he wanted to play.....very sad however that he apparently took his own life in a jail cell? Peter Baker, Newcastle , Australia
I saw Roy more than 10 times. Never a disappointment as his technique was impeccable. This remains my favorite blues song of all time.
Me too!
