from "The Greatest Unknown Guitarist In The World" with some video improvements
To me Roy Buchanan seems to be pretty conceited. Everybody has to center around him.
'it is all in the context', what do you think this would have sounded like without the other(apparently nameless) musicians surrounding him ?
I discovered RB the day after he died in his jail cell… the radio station disc jockey was playing his music and I thus was introduced to his mastery… such a loss… I remember it as well as my wedding, the birth of my sons, the death of my father, etc…
Mira tomaba su Agua y soliaba con su Guitarra a la Vez
I suspect that beard didn't do him any favors.
Notice how Roy's amp is facing away from the audience. The shot from behind clearly shows the baffle and control facing back. From the audience POV, as he sips the beer, you can see the speakers in the cab. Almost as much sound come from the open back of the cab as the front...I suspect Roy played fearsome loud cab
Saw him open for Johnny Winter. That was a great show.
Greatest Unknown Guitar Player on Earth.
Certain notes and riffs heard by Roy make me think of him as the greatest BLUES Guitarists ever.
Breath....breath in the air......don't be afraid to care.....
the singer has been just made into a tool so Roy can spray his guitar all over it , not very respectful no matter how amazing his licks are
tambourine guy was definitely feeling it
He’s definitely giving off some ‘first shipment from Colombia/test subject’ vibes.
Roy...the best
Got to see him.
Roy must have had huge hands. That frett board looks like a toy in his right hand.
I thought Roy was about to play his version of Breathe, Pink Floyd!😮
💫
Nils Lofgren signature as well. Don't be fooled , Roy could play a 3 string cigar box guitar , and sound epic . It's not the guitar , it's the player .
PBS 1971 what a time to be alive
things were going really great. MTV ruined EVERYTHING
Like so many other truly great musicians, Buchanan rarely sings and plays at the same time. I can only think of Hendrix and Levon Helm who could be great at both together. Even Santana stepped back from the mic when he got famous enough. Clapton? Jack Bruce sang. And, then, somehow, Clapton's voice improved with (old) age, IMO ... and, he can play brilliant solos in his sleep.
You might add Daniela Villareal- Velez of The Warning to that impressive and short list.🎉🎉🎉
@@jeffgray9943 Thank you for the suggestion. I'll take a look. Also, for some reason, the piano player/composers seem to be able to play and sing at the same time. Paul McCartney. Ray Charles. Jerry Lee Lewis, etc I wonder why that is.
@@andrewcowin3815 roberta flack, see S.O.U.L LIVE first time ever i saw.... It has to be a gift plus excellent training and practice practice practice.. 😎
Lotta fuss over Page, Clapton, Townsend. Nothing for bich. Better than all 3.
A crowd of young people watching masters and appreciating musicianship. So sad we live in a time when great music and artistry aren't appreciated, unless the stage is a video game experience.
Great Telemaster !!!
Love Roy Buchanan, so gifted, so expressive, so clean playing.
Neil Young sung it and played it better.
One of the greatest guitarists of all time who's been passed over by "mainstream" pop-culture drones who dont know any better, just like players like Roy Clark who was probably one of the top-5 greatest players who ever lived.
I didn't know, that this fabulous Musician played a Neil Young song. How wonderful!!!
One handed, drinking smoker. 🎸
He plays with the front of his amp facing away from him. Did the same when I saw him in Australia.😊
I can barely hear the tambourine!!!!
I saw Roy play solo at an ice rink, 1969 or '70. They had the ice covered and the audience sat on it. Roy played through something like a Champ amp which was sitting on a folding chair. Once he started nobody, maybe 300 people, made a sound. The orchestra concerts I've attended had audiences making more noise. Roy was something.
amazing git slinger!
I feel fairly certain Roy's version of this song influenced the members of Pink Floyd in writing "Breath". They saw him play at the Crossroads bar in the early seventies.
Great 🎸Roy..Buchanan ..rip ..⚘️
Never heard a better version of that Neil Young song with a more inspirated guitar solo. And I've heard a lot.
The guy on tambourine looks like Eric Carmen from The Raspberries. Is it him?
who were the other members?
In the early seventies I had all (I think) his albums. Lent them to a friend and he moved out of state with them. In the mid eighties I ran into him in Cancun and brought up my records. he said "don't worry I'm taking good care of them".
With friends like that, who needs enemies?
Saw Roy in a basement bar in North Carolina when I was in my 30's. Maybe 40 or 50 people in the room. This version is just okay. I like the studio version, even with the synth. Roy was the man. Check out his live version of Hey Joe if you're not convinced..
i used to play him lots in blues rooms hes brilliant
This has no equal.
That was in our set. Fun to play.
Wow!!!!!no other words
"He can make it cry or sing." (Dire Straits, Sultans of Swing)
Glorious!! Thank you!
.....🤗🤗🤗.....I love this guy.....use to listen to his music way back in the 90'z....... ✌️🙏.... much 💖💖💖💖💖 Mr.. 🙂🇧🇴🇧🇴🇧🇴
Anyone know the singer’s name? Thx for posting, love Roy!
I will drink one for you Roy
Rock In Peace Roy
