He no longer needs his imaginary brother to be his courage, because he found his own.

Tamara strictly my opinion but the brother I believe is just a figment of his imagination as a way to cope with the death of his mother (the one in the bed) I believe the main character’s imaginary brother is representation of the kind of person the main character may want to be. It’s honestly very fight club-esque as far as the two stars go.

When Stressed out came out, it almost immediately appeared on radio and occupied the first lines in the charts, it was awesome. 4 months have passed since the release of this video, but it is still not included on any radio in my country. Of course, by the end, we discover that the brother wasn't real. He was used as a coping mechanism of sorts. Of course, his mom died (and he was very close to her), his dad was an alcoholic, who could really take care of him? So he made an imaginary friend- er, brother?- to help get him through. At first, this person helped him through life, but later on, it started bringing out his reckless side. After all, most people who have imaginary friends grow out of them after a few years. Since he didn't, it changed him. He also seems like an anxious, shy person who probably gets bullied a lot. The end is where things get tricky. When you think about those boys who followed him back to his house, they could possibly have a deeper meaning. They might represent his demons. If that's the case, when he beats them with a bat in the end, it's almost like he's finally getting rid of them. That's why when he walks back in the house, his "brother" is gone. He no longer has a purpose because he finally learned to stand up for himself. More or less, he becomes his own person in the end. Another less-interpreted version is that in the end, he realizes his brother was never real after he beats the boys up. Him walking through the door alone is him finally understanding. We see the previous scenes without his "brother", and that may be him trying to remember things and get a reality check. Possibility of an unseen existential crisis. I also like to think that he and the brother switch places. Throughout his life, this "brother" of his takes care of him, helps him, and defends him. In the end, it's him who takes care of the brother.

I've seen lots of interpretations of this video, so I'll add my own.
Of course, by the end, we discover that the brother wasn't real. He was used as a coping mechanism of sorts. Of course, his mom died (and he was very close to her), his dad was an alcoholic, who could really take care of him? So he made an imaginary friend- er, brother?- to help get him through. At first, this person helped him through life, but later on, it started bringing out his reckless side. After all, most people who have imaginary friends grow out of them after a few years. Since he didn't, it changed him. He also seems like an anxious, shy person who probably gets bullied a lot.
The end is where things get tricky.
When you think about those boys who followed him back to his house, they could possibly have a deeper meaning. They might represent his demons. If that's the case, when he beats them with a bat in the end, it's almost like he's finally getting rid of them. That's why when he walks back in the house, his "brother" is gone. He no longer has a purpose because he finally learned to stand up for himself. More or less, he becomes his own person in the end.
Another less-interpreted version is that in the end, he realizes his brother was never real after he beats the boys up. Him walking through the door alone is him finally understanding. We see the previous scenes without his "brother", and that may be him trying to remember things and get a reality check. Possibility of an unseen existential crisis.
I also like to think that he and the brother switch places. Throughout his life, this "brother" of his takes care of him, helps him, and defends him. In the end, it's him who takes care of the brother.

The son lost his mother & he coped with it by making an imaginary brother. He knows he doesn’t have a brother but pretends that he has.
To add atop of that:
His brother is basically his outgoing/wild persona - Someone he (perhaps unconsciously) embodies from time to time (like acting out 'n' standing up to those 4 guys)
