I'm a hobby fisherman . The large European eel I catch with tires, flatfish and shrimps and halibut with nets. I'm not an angler, but how do you catch a 1/3 ton shark?
I've fished that same spot wen I lived in Brisbane... I caught some goodies up there too... Also got some very sizable bulls in the Albert and Logan rivers
@mortenhyvejle hey man! Sorry to jump in... such heavy duty rods are made from fibreglass or carbon fibre, most often with tapered and laminated construction to increase toughness and strength. Similarly, the reels, lines, and tackle must be tough/bite resistant. You'll notice with heavy rigs the line runs over the top of the rod thus reducing angle of difference between the reel and rod along its length and reducing line breakage at a line guide. Trout rods and smaller catch systems have the line running underneath, for example. Heavy duty reels are sooooo strong too.
Nice one , there are plenty of bull sharks up in the Noosa River as well, ssshhhh don't tell the tourists. That first shark you caught looked like a black tip 👍

I'm Canadian, and it always makes me laugh when Australians get all paranoid about bears while hiking the back country here. I'm like- you come from a country that is infested with sharks, crocodiles and super venomous snakes and spiders. Don't worry about the bears too much. 😅

Ive caught several really big bull sharks right where that horse was attacked at college's crossing. The biggest was over 9ft long and around 350kg.
