If you feel comfortable putting refined petroleum on your face thats fine. I personally don't feel comfortable using ingredients with such a toxic source. Not to mention that petroleum drilling is incredibly damaging to the environment and is not a renewable source. Also, while a dermatologist may recommend it, a toxicologist will tell you petroleum is toxic, because it is. In the video I provide the petroleum toxicological profile from the CDC which is the the leading national public health institute of the United States: www.atsdr.cdc.gov/ToxProfiles/tp.asp?id=424&tid=75. Products that are for dry skin conditions often have petroleum based ingredients and state on the label to keep away from fire if using the products as they are FLAMMABLE!!! They also seem to act a lot like silicones, designed to keep moisture in but they seem to actually keep moisture out. Thanks to you Penny I no longer use these products and have much better control over my skin issues 💗
Girl, watching this video makes me want to get back to caring about my skincare again. Once I'm done using up what I have left of my body wash, I want to order Chagrin Valley bar soap again, and I want to try The Ordinary squalane and Heritage Store rosewater spray on my face (I also love the Rose Kombucha face cleanser so I'm not sure if I'll be changing that but if I do, I'll be trying The Ordinary squalane cleanser).

Hey Penny! Do you think you could review Dr.Bonner products? Like the castile soap, lip balm, and other products from them? I'd love to see what you think!

I’m looking for advice! 🤍 I clarify and deep condition my hair once a week. I wear my natural curly hair everyday and use a curling iron very minimally throughout the week to touch up curls that frame my face. Every morning and night, I scrunch coconut oil into my hair because either it’s feeling dry or I want to give my hair the opportunity to drink up the oil throughout the night. What do you think? Can this much coconut oil be suffocating my hair even if I clarify once a week? My hair appears healthy on its best days but I know it is damaged due to heat damage and bleaching that was done over a year ago.
Personally, I do a hair mask with coconut oil once a week and use jojoba oil on my hair everyday. Coconut oil is more moisturizing, but also a lot heavier, so it works really well as a mask/hot oil treatment. Jojoba oil is a lot lighter so I just put it in everyday after I shower and it provides great definition for my hair. But if using coconut oil everyday works for you then, hey, it works for you. All hair is different.

I have a question? I’m 20 and my hair is thinning out at the top like where I part my hair and around like when I put my fingers through my hair I can see my scalp and my hair feels soo thin and I used to have very thick strong hair. But lately I’ve been losing a lot of hair when I shower, I get dandruff even though I wash my hair out 2 times and make sure I rinse throughly, and my hair is just thinner every shampoo I use. I’ve used Garnier whole blends, I’ve used Aveno, and love planet and beauty. When I choose shampoos I try to get them with no sulfate, no parabens etc... but no matter how natural of good ingredients it has my hair continues to stay getting thinner the dandruff goes away but comes back after a few showers and I just don’t know what other shampoos to try. I’ve even tried applying coconut oil before I sleep but nothing happens. People have told me that heavily perfumed hair products are what is damaging my hair but I’m like literally every shampoo has perfume in it and idk if that’s an answer. I want my hair to grow out strong and thick again and I trust you and your hair reviews. Just hoping you can help with a situation like this because I’m sure there are other young women that are experiencing hair loss and thinny. Thank you and hopefully you see this.
fiore flores thats exactly what happens to me but the original head and shoulders has been helping and leave my hair down when I go to sleep because i was also balding from always doing buns
laCachanilla650 yeah I used to use head and shoulders way before any of these shampoos but I’d get dandruff so I decided to switch to the other shampoos I used. And yeah I’ve heard from others that putting your hair up when it’s wet causes hair to fall out, but I’ve never made it a habit to do that. Thank you for replying.💕
you are not alone ! it has been happening to me too. i have super thick hair but it’s been thinning out and i’ve done everything you have done. i have no idea what to do anymore :( if you ever find an answer, please share
sarz I’ve been looking everywhere, Pinterest, blogs, TH-cam and the internet got answers but I feel like nothing answers or gives me a solution. Like some people say to medicate and see a doctor about it but I don’t think my case is so serious for that and I prefer natural remedies like olive oil, coconut and castor oil and I sleep in them but I haven’t seen any result and I try to not shower in hot water just in luke warm. I’m hoping Penny helps or finds answers bc I trust her product reviews and I want something that is good for me.
Try not to use anything greasy on your hair because the dandruff gets worse and if you see any white on the front of your hair from dandruff put lotion

Hi Penny. I too do the same and look at the long list of ingredients when I shop for shampoos. I'm usually on my phone searching each ingredient and it is so time consuming. Can you make a video for your subscribers of maybe main ingredients we should watch out for and just break it down for us? Thanks girl. Love your channel so much💚

Really phenomenal guide, thank you so much for sharing!
I love me some Nivea (only the dark blue line, though). The rest is "watery". I have used the blue tin for my face (extremely dry) for many years. Since I was 3, and I'm 47 now. Yep, that long! The rose water is aweeeeesommeeeeee!!!! I use it allll over my body when I’m burned af from the beach. It soothes and makes me feel better instantly
Just wanna thank you for making these kinds of videos :’) 80% of “beauty” products I use are products that you have recommended over the years! Thank you, thank you, thank you! 🙏🏼✨
Girl you’re so funny love you so much
I love your videos I love how you are so conscious about the ingredients that go into them and I love how you are so caring about the planet
What is your opinion regarding the controversy about devacurl ruining ayesha"s malik hair?
The "all the littles" quote killed me hahahahaha
What’s your opinion about the deva curl controversy? When you’ve used it, did you see a negative difference in your hair?
Love that you make sustainable choices!
check Not Your Mother’s products on the Think Dirty app, I used to use DevaCurl till I saw Ayesha Malik’s DevaCurl video and was shocked, always wondered why my curls were basically falling apart.
Lil poop in there lil pants”😂
I've seen her walmart vid like 20 times at least
I'm early lol
You’ve helped me transform, well I’m still working on my hair but it has gotten so much better, thank youuuu I love youuuuuuuu💕🤧
VIDEO IDEA: a review of black-owned vegan skincare company Bomb’d Aesthetics? (U da best Penny. Thanks for giving us the low-down on our products!)
Hi Penny. I too do the same and look at the long list of ingredients when I shop for shampoos. I'm usually on my phone searching each ingredient and it is so time consuming. Can you make a video for your subscribers of maybe main ingredients we should watch out for and just break it down for us? Thanks girl. Love your channel so much💚
Why do you sound like my mom, when she says don’t look at the brand look at the ingredients. She does that with everything she gets not clothes tho
Jasmine Ford “not clothes tho”😂😂Lmaoo
Thank you for being so picky with the products you buy and promote you're the only person I wholeheartedly trust with all of money
Petroleum is in majority of our lip sticks. Why haven’t I felt any side affects yet?
This was a wonderful mix of informative and inspirational without being overly critical. I appreciate your ability to teach and explain why certain ingredients are harmful or why you make choices without making viewers feel ashamed for perhaps not knowing or taking the same steps. Really phenomenal guide, thank you so much for sharing!
:')
I love me some Nivea (only the dark blue line, though). The rest is "watery". I have used the blue tin for my face (extremely dry) for many years. Since I was 3, and I'm 47 now. Yep, that long! Talk about loyalty to a product. Petrolatum keeps moisture in my skin very well, the best that I have tried. There is nothing wrong, according to my dermatologist, with mineral oil derived products!
If you feel comfortable putting refined petroleum on your face thats fine. I personally don't feel comfortable using ingredients with such a toxic source. Also, while a dermatologist may recommend it, a toxicologist will tell you petroleum is toxic, because it is. I just like to share healthy alternatives :)
Yes please continue this series! I want to change my whole skincare routine but on a budget and this video gave me some great options!
wb deva curl?
Girl, I watched this and bought the Not Your Mother’s Natural line and went with the Coconut Milk and Marula Oil with the Maui Moisture Shea Butter hair mask because my curls are super dry and can I just say, my curls have been so soft and moisturized. Thank you so much!
Maui moisture is everything. I bought it after one of your recommendations. It is my favorite shampoo of all time.
Pleaaase look up about maui having formaldehyde reseasers in it. I just found this out. Please look it up 😥

Continue the series Penny!
i’m happy u uploaded 🤗🤗 maybe u should upload like three times a week 💁♀️😄
thank you for mentioning the ordinary peeling solution i have been looking for exfoliants that wont irritate my skin!
Just be aware that it is VERY strong, if you're not used to chemical exfoliators start with an exfoliating toner :)
@@PennyTovar that is also a great suggestion i will look into that 💙

Penny! Are you addressing Deva curl scandal???!! Have you experience any issue? Estoy preocupada!
I need some advice, I just recently dyed my hair blue. And when I went to get some color safe shampoo and conditioner most of what I saw had sulfate and silicone. Does anyone have any suggestions for some good ones?
Krashay 17 Maui moisture has one.
The love beauty and planet one is really good and its sulfate and silicone free. It also smells really good
