- We embark on the extension to the layout, even though this model railway shunting yard layout was going to be small I had always planned for a hill on the front.
Join us as we enjoy the journey of building a model railway to run our trains and locos on.
Love it! I have N gauge. I had a full loop in the man cave but its now a bedroom :( I also got given a lot of my Dads OO to run that I did have on a small end to end. This gives me inspiration for both gauges. I will be doing something similar for my N in a shelf type end to end. Hopefully I'll be able to put a run of OO to run my Dad's stuff too. Keep em' coming, great content!
You know it's getting more interesting when the hanging basket liner comes out 😊 I agree with you about having fun with the layout. I probably have things on my layout where they shouldn't be but they work for me and that's what matters. It's all about enjoyment.
The person that complained about the realism of the layout, clearly didn’t understand how Rule 1 works…
Not sure if you have sorted the droop in the rotating section, but if you could double up the main baseboard cross batten.
Great choice, it will look good with the extension .👍
Ive bought a Barry Norman landscape modelling book, he refers to the scenics in the foreground as framing the layout and providing interest as the viewer has to peak through or around the trees. A great idea and i hope i can follow this when i start making trees 😀
What engines and cars are those on your layout? Ive been searching models like these for a while
Aren’t they TrainTech buffer stops?
Interesting video . Yes good idea extending front .
Enjoyed your video
looking good
Great progress. 😊 Out of interest, why do you use the hanging basket liner rather than a plaster/modroc/papier maché surface under your static grass?
Good idea, in my view, to extend the layout - design looks excellent. Thanks for sharing again.
Had me worried there for a minute when you said "I don't want to do that", thought you were going to say you're not going any further with the layout. It's a good idea to add some more scenery to the front and I agree with you about having the scene broken up by obstructing the view slightly, makes it far more interesting.
Always wondered what a hot wire cutter was used for! Another great little informative video for newbies like me😀
I have been planning the same kind of extension on the front of my layout with the foam and downward sloping terrain. Seeing this makes me more sure it is a good idea!
Great video Tris, love your impressive paint collection too😊😊
Another enjoyable episode - thanks Tris
Thanks for sharing Tris, you keep on having fun!
First. Also, nice Diesel Locomotives.
