was just about to comment this hahaha. but i will say as a rangers fan this is very tough to watch... since the moving of trouba and big signing of igor its been nothing but downhill... has anything improved since last year? nope... i mean sure the signing of smith and carrick but honestly, when basically your top player is Cuylle and hes the one who proceeds to show up to games and do his job over your vets like zib, kreider and trocheck then something is wrong internally where the vets are affected by it or inside the locker room.... i havent seen a rangers team this bad since 03-04....
and just to add to it a tiny bit, the coach can only do so much... once the players step on the ice theyre supposed to do their job... but when they turn the puck over on breakout multiple times, cant get anything going offensively on the powerplay like they use to then something is wrong with the team/players.. maybe its time to think about rebuilding with the big signing of igor... i could see sticking it out with the vets IF they were 100% cup or bust but the fact the have to depend on igors performance in the playoffs each year says something about the team. once you see igor get tired you know its the end for the rangers. so i think its time to start the rebuild. get the top pay they can for kreid and zib etc or keep one of them for leadership but i think its time to shuffle it around. theyve stuck with this core so long that its time to change it up.
This season is over. Get rid of Zibanejad, Miller, Lindgren, Kreider, Smith, etc. If Perrault, Sykora and Othmann are ready, let's see what they can do.
Firing yet another coach won't prevent this hockey Titanic from sinking. Per Jonathan Swift in 1729, "A Modest Proposal"....... Trade for J.T. Miller from Vancouver. Other than Panarin, Trocheck and the Rookie/Second year guys... Trade this entire team to Vancouver. Call up the entire Hartford AHL Team and make them the Rangers. More fun to watch and couldn't possibly do worse. This will also help international relations between Trump and Canadian PM Trudeau - After watching this mob for 2 weeks, Trudeau will be down here, bluebbering and begging, offering any concessions if the US will just take them back.
This is 100% a player problem, not a coaching problem. We changed Gallant out thinking it was a coaching issue and guess what...the same problems persist. This is a core problem. Lack of locker room leadership, lack of accountability, lack of effort, lack of mastering the basics.
I honestly don’t think so. You don’t go from the best team in the NHL to the worst just for that reason. To me it seems like they are just trying to prove a point and get someone fired but who knows I’m probably wrong. Just doesn’t make sense to me. I say drury has to go. He hasn’t made a good move yet and clearly we need something to happen.
The Core needs to be fired, they go through coaches more than most players go through clean jock straps. If the Rumors are they are tanking because of Drury and want him fired, Mutiny should be breach of the CBA and cause for termination.
The team is pissed off that management is paying Shitjerkin way to much money. Their showing management no matter how good your goalie is....he can't score. I predict the following. Rags G.M. Drury will be fired. New G.M. will come in and fire Laviolette and name Joel Quinnville head coach. Wait, watch & see....
Never should have let gallant go and if they did, they should’ve hired the coach from the Wolfpack that’s in Edmonton. Given the fact over the last three years, the New York Rangers have accumulated more wins in 3 years than any other team in the history of the New York Rangers franchise in three seasons period And at the average age is just over 27 years old if you think the problem is the players, you do not understand the importance of system. This system is broken, plain and simple, and given the fact that Lav notoriously wears out his welcome with his team, especially in recent history you see it happening here. I believe Hexall would be a good option as a place setter and potentially the right fit. He’s a systems guy that is in touch with the younger players and might just work. Either way something has to change because if it doesn’t, the organization as a whole will have to make a shift philosophically, and that includes a new general manager. If he doesn’t take a shot in the dark here, get ready for a massive change.
Hextall would beat the crap outta them. I'd be 100% onboard with bringing in Hextall to help kick this lazy team in there asses and get them to start playing harder. It's funny you mentioned Hextall actually, I was just talking about him a few days ago lol
For those of you who're casual fans. Ron Hextall was a goalie that didn't take shit from anyone during his playing time. That dude would chase you down the ice and start throwing punches at the player or goalie that just pissed him off. Tough guy and has experience at being a GM. I think with the young core the rangers have currently, compared to when he was in Pittsburgh. He can really do some good within the Rangers organization as the next GM.
@@kevinmaguire4437 Oh man, Having Hextall and Roy coaching against each other would be very interesting and he would not allow the vets to get away with protesting either.
The Larry Brooks report seemed to inspire the Ottawa Senators. They've been on a roll since and our chances of acquiring Tkachuck is dwindling. Thanks Larry lol
True, While I don't think Lavi is really at fault here but he's Drury's guy and the players and Drury are on different sides. So the coaching staff gets caught in the middle of this, along with the fan base. James Dolan needs to fire Drury asap and the players will start playing hard again. Now, they should be playing hard regardless if they don't like the GM. There professionals damnit, they need to start acting like it. I'm not going to anymore Rangers games until I see some changes happened within the Rangers management. But Lavi did bench Kakko, a younger player instead of the vets. So that part at least shows Lavi is still favoring the Vets over the younger core, which isn't good.
@@mmonurdz9456 The Wild have been linked with Kakko recently, so we'll see. I really like Kakko so I don't want to see him go either but with him voicing his displeasure about being benched, I do believe teams will be more aggressive in acquiring his services. If Kakko does get traded, which the chances of that happening are increasing by the day. I have a feeling he'll sign on long term extension with whatever team does land him.
I liked Laviolette a lot but the Kakko benching proved to me he has no clue how to run the team anymore. He doesn’t hold veteran players accountable & he has no strategy anymore. He’s as lifeless as the players. In my opinion coaching staff AND management all need to go
You are correct! Unfortunately it has nothing to do with whether or not he's fired. He will be the scapegoat excuse. Then he'll be hired by by the Islanders and he'll take them to the Stanly Cup
Drury destroyed the morale of the whole team and did nothing to fix the problems of the core being underachieving quitters. He fired Gallant to deflect blame from himself and he will fire Lavy if Dolan let's him.... he is an incompetent pretender.
Player problem or not, you can't trade a bunch of players, especially vets who have no trade clauses in their contracts. In a death spiral like this, extreme measures are required & that means firing both Laviolette & Drury, just like they fired Davidson & Gorton. Will that result in a team that plays like they did last year? Who knows? But we know the team is a mess right now & the GM/Coach have ultimate responsibility. I've never been a Laviolette fan & frankly I was shocked how well the team did last year. But as someone said, his coaching style goes south quickly. Look at how his ex team the Caps are playing under Carberry with literally the same cast as Laviolette had. Bring in a real leader like Messier, who commented frequently in the last few years that the team lacks grit & is too easy to play against in tight checking hockey. He knows the type of player required to win & he's like EF Hutton, you listen when he talks. Even as a player, he kicked ass when teammates were not pulling their weight. A culture change is needed for the future, even if the present isn't possible to rectify right now.
One of the worst things about this team is their pathetic after game interviews.Other sides watching this must think when are we playing these guys? There is no fight or determination in their responses just platitudes and empty promises.Kreider and Zibanejad being two of the worst examples There'll be no playoffs this year with leaders like these two that's a given.
cant hear what you are saying in parts because the player interviews are too loud. just letting you know. but at this point, regardless laviolette has to go. he gets fired after a couple seasons by every team that hires him and there is a reason for that. he loses his teams because they are not playing tough guys who stick up for the smaller players and that creates a bond that they dont have. its a classic laviolette team, all ballet no warriors, and the bond from last seasons has eroded from drury with goodrow/trouba situations
Jesus couldn't coach this team without swearing at them. They make mistakes that kids playing Pee Wee hockey make but I would say the first step to fixing the team is firing the GM and coach first to clear the slate. Then really watch tapes of games they lost and see which player need to be traded
I didn't even turn that game on last night ,if rumors are true and this is deliberately been done , then I think you HAVE to clean house . You can't allow mutiny , players involved need to go by any means , laviolette has to be fired for allowing this on his watch on principle and Drury needs to be fired for being the architect of this mess , buts that would be my response as Dolan.
