    G'day Vic, I bought the same mitre gauge last year but without the fence. I had a piece of aluminium slotted bar which worked . I have exactly the same saw as yours and my gauge slides up and down without a problem.
    I replaced the slide adjustment screws with knurled brass knobs I found at Bunnings and they match the supplied ones perfectly. My gauge was accurate from out of the box, I did not have to adjust it, I guess I was lucky.
    Keep up the excellent videos and ignore the uninformed. cheers Tim

    Cheers for the review Vic! I had to watch it as I have had the same mitre gauge for almost a year now (after watching Dennis from Hooked on Wood's review). Actually also bought one for a mate. And as @Tim Elliott says below, mine was also perfect out of the box. I've got and old Delta table saw and the retaining washer works perfect on mine. Glad to see it was an easy fix for yours.

    Nice review Vic, obviously I've got the same stock mitre gauge as you, and while I've tweaked and improved it slightly, it's still kinda cruddy so I'm keen to upgrade this year, be keen to see how this one tracks for you over the next month. I've started testing out banggood myself, so far all of the tools I've bought have been great value and feel really high quality, just the delivery time can be a little hit 'n' miss. Though to be fair, Christmas was probably the main reason for my orders being delayed anyway. Cheers!

      @@DownUnderWoodWorks I doo, that's the whole reason why I decided to try them out in the first place. 🤣 I've bought a few measuring tools: large T square, a right angle guide, some fancy pantsy corner clamps, the kinda things that are upwards of $150 in Australia, but around $50 online - you just gotta wait a few months for them to come.

    How is the flipstop adjusted? Is there a mechanism for fine adjustments?
    Also, can the flipstop be used with a sacrificial fence?

    • @DownUnderWoodWorks
      @DownUnderWoodWorks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The flip stop has a locking screw on top so you can slide it along the fence and lock it in place. There is no fine adjustment. It could be used with a sacrificial fence because the unit comes with the plastic inserts that screw to the front face of the fence. i have removed them as i find the gauge works better without them so you could use a sacrificial fence the same thickness as the plastic inserts

    Thanks so much for making this video. I've read through the comments and don't see anyone with the same unanswered concern as mine. I have just purchased a rebuilt old Rockwell Unisaw. need to get my 220V supply installed before using it. I can't wait. Really looking forward to getting into woodwork. This seems to be far and away the best value miter available.
    This miter gage does not come with a measuring system. No tape. Dialing in and using a table saw without needing tape measure to the saw blade tooth seems to be a most popular miter gage/sled operation.
    Do you think a tape can be inserted into the t-slot? Has anyone experimented with a tape, perhaps one that would fit snug into the slot but still slide for adjustment?

    • @DownUnderWoodWorks
      @DownUnderWoodWorks  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, you’re right, the gauge doesn’t have a tape measure. To be honest, relying on set tape measures is not the best practice anyway. In my opinion and experience measuring your cuts with a ruler or hand held tape measure is far more accurate and a good habit to form for a new woodworker. Don’t take everything you see as the way it should be. Also, a tape measure on a mitre gauge won’t really work at any angle other than 0 degrees.

    I just received the non brass version of this, interestingly it didn't come with any instructions, the 4th expansion washer was fitted, and it had a large flat edged washer fitted to the far end of the rail where yours just has a countersunk screw, i had to remove the washer as it was wider than my table saw slot. I expected the indexing finger to be sprung loaded as well. it was nice to have all the required allen keys supplied as well as spare screws and expansion washers.

    i have the same mitre guage, and was impressed with the quality and price. the only tweak i had to make was file a tiny section from the end of the non sprung pointer that sits in the cut outs on the protractor, it was just a little too long for it to seat properly in the cuts, other than that it worked out the box.

    I have recently purchased this item and have to say I am satisfied with the quality .however I have encountered a problem. I have Clarke CTS 14 table saw and discovered that the miter gauge is not compatible with this table saw or I understand any other of the Clarke range. The miter is too wide and thick to fit the miter slots on the table saw. I wonder if this is a problem with other brands of table saws. Perhaps you could advise.

    Very accurate review. the posting on Bangood's site is not clear as to which fence you get - the one you got - same as the one I got - is really for a router table and specifically for box -fingers / tenons which explains the instructions order in the manual.. The gap opening space in the fence for the router bit is extremely annoying when trying to align the distance from the blade unless you use the right slot on the table saw. Thanks for the tip about flipping the black backing so it will be possible to use on the left miter slot. I, too was surprised at the good quality of the product and I have a Jessem fence that cost 2.5 x and didn't fit as well as this one in my table saw.

      I have this miter gauge. For about a month.
      I am with you on it having T slots with no T bolts. In the US it’s a little difficult to find metric bolts. T bolts would really help with moving the fence past the gap.
      The hole in the aluminum fence is to run the dado cutter thru. You cut right thru the plastic to give a zero clearance for the dado. This really helps with tear out on the backside of the dado cut.
      This is only good for the first set-up. So I’m making replacement fence faces for different set-ups. I make them out of Timbertech scraps. It’s a resin & sawdust deck board material.
      The grub screws you pointed out adjusts the vertical tilt of the fence. Not the square to the blade angle. That is done with two screws on the miter face.
      I put red locktite on the screws in the miter bar and the two grub screws. Because I’m out of blue, which isn’t permanent like red.
      I didn’t want to take a chance on loosing them.
      I really like my Wnew miter gauge. I use it on my 2000 Grizzly cabinet saw. It really improved the accuracy.
      Thanks for the review video. It was a very good presentation.

    After watching a few videos on this style miter gauge I decided to purchase one. I went to Banggood, downloaded their app and proceeded to register. But, when I reviewed their privacy policy, I discovered that you are giving them the right to access your computer equipment and all associated peripherals including its camera or any network attached device, USB drives, storage drives, etc.. Most people unknowingly just click OK and move on without reading. Also, this may only pertain to us here in the USA but I'll bet it's ubiquitous! Hence I ordered a similar product from Amazon and deleted all associated Banggood App, etc., from my device. Hopefully the extra $15 will insure my privacy???

    i really appreciated this review. So much so I went and bought one. I was a little dissapointed to find that the bar only fits in a t track that is 30mm and most table saws in the UK (which I wanted to use it on) are a lot narrower. I have had to basically build a table saw from scratch to be able to use it. I asked the ebay seller about the size of the t track on a new table saw I was going to purchase but he basically said tough, it comes with a mitre guide and if I wanted to use my new mitre guide I would have to make a new bar or get one made by someone. Any ideas where I could get a narrower bar to fit this guide would be really appreciated. I was told the T track fits a 16mm bar, this is 19mm....mmmmm frustrating.

    I think your review was fair. It seemed to cover all the important points relevant to a miter gauge. You pointed out some problems and fixes you made. Also a couple of changes / enhancements that would be in order. So about the only part of the review I disagree with is your view on what is or is not "paid". You got a $150 (or so) piece of merchandise. That's $150 in your pocket. So unless you send the miter gauge back, you are money ahead. Now, having said that, your review appears to be honest, paid for or not. Thank you for sharing. Have a great 2022 and stay safe.

In my mind if i were to be paid cash i could spend that money on anything i want. in this case i get what i'm given and yes its money in my pocket if the item is great and you use it but what if the item turns out to be crap and you put to the back of the cupboard and only use it rarely then i'm essentially out of pocket. Thanks again mate

    The stock hafco gauge with the SB12 is the letdown of the table. This tool looks to be a very good replacement

      I think thats the case with standard mitre gauges supplied with most saws. its always a low grade item just like the blade thats supplied. Mine didn't last very long at all. Cheers mate

    Another great video Vic, I have the exact same item you reviewed. I found it to be very accurate and value for the money.
    I have used it many times and have had no issue.
    Don't listen to that KNOB, as someone mentioned he is a tool......🤣🤣
    Cheers Rob

      Hey Rob, thanks mate. Its been good to hear from all those that have the gauge and love it. Percy is no problem, he doesn't realise that no-one gives him any credibility and he's just a source of cheap entertainment.

    One caution many of this group (Banggood and others) of miter gauges Will Not work in the classic Craftsman cast iron table saws as the miter slots were under sized by a few thousands. I had purchased one and was disappointed, however it did fit other equipment.
    Incra and others will fit the Craftsman table saws.

    Could you not just turn the fence upside down to move the box jig function to the other end?
    It looks like it has a t-track on both edges

      Hi Glen, sorry for the late reply, not sure how i missed your comment. Yes, the fence has the same groove on both edges.

    Thank you for the disclosure. I do agree with you that TH-cam needs to get more granular about its disclosure policy. It's important to me how you obtained this item but If all they supplied was the item then it's not really a paid promotion. Also if they sent you the item then it implies to me that your item was handpicked and prepared for the review. The item that I receive won't be. In the end transparency is what is most important.

    • @DownUnderWoodWorks
      @DownUnderWoodWorks  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree mate, their standard disclosure is way too broad. Interesting view on the item being hand picked for me, I never considered that. Thanks

      @@DownUnderWoodWorks I can’t take credit for coming up with that. I also watch a guitar channel which is similar to a tool channel in that guitars can cost anywhere from $150 on Amazon to tens of thousands. Usually when multiple channels are reviewing the same tool or piece of gear simultaneously it means the company has sent out a bunch of samples. That channel is the one who mentioned hand picked or inspected samples.

    You only have to find something useful in your 'stash' once in your lifetime to make hoarding things a way of life. In fact if you are going to be lucky enough to pass your 'stash' onto someone else on your demise, you can include their lifetime in the tally as well. Imagine a grandchild coming in to his then wife and saying "I found the exact part I needed in the stuff I cleared out from Grandad's".

      "It’s always amusing to hear aussies say “Aluminum” "
      That's because we don't say aluminum. We say aluminium. That is, it's not just a different pronunciation, but a different spelling. Aluminium is the spelling used everywhere outside North America, apparently.

      No worries mate but I disagree with you because if I’m paid money I’m free to do or spend it as I please. If I’m only paid by receiving a product I’m limited to that and what if I don’t like it or don’t use it, I’ve gained nothing. Cheers mate
