    “Hiker food hanging from a tree like some sill nylon scrotum”.
    I felt that

      That feeling when you find someone else who gets your humor.

    I watched your video before a NOBO 100 mile, and again after the NOBO 100 mile. Our group also did the hike in 7 days and stayed at many of the same spots. Enjoyed watching both times, enjoy the PCT

      That's awesome! What month did you hike it? I'm curious to know how the conditions change in different times of the year.

      I prefer either hiking in the spring before the mosquitoes come out or after August when the bugs are gone.

      @@HackYourPack how did I miss your question?! We hiked in June 2019. Black flies were brutal, hot and humid days 5 6 7, rain on most of those days, too

    Sick stuff. Thinking of ripping this NOBO last week of June into July. How were the bugs went you guys went?

    • @HackYourPack
      @HackYourPack  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's about the same time of year we were there. Bugs were brutal. Highly recommend a head net and a generous supply of repellent. If you go NOBO, I would recommend including Katahdin so you get an epic finish. The Northern end of the 100 mile wilderness is not as exciting as the South. (We went SOBO.)

    WOW INCREASABLE! How much weight did you guys carry! What pack did you use? Who carried the max weight and how much was it? I'm gonna start practicing and hopefully working towards being able to handle 60 pounds 10 miles a day!

    • @HackYourPack
      @HackYourPack  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was a while ago, so hard to recall exactly. I would guess my base weight was around 10-12 pounds. Fully loaded with 4 days of food and water for the day, maybe 25 lbs? We had a resupply half way through, which helped keep the total weight down.

    I don't get it, how do all the people that spend so much time outside on the trails and in the wilderness still think that our civilization is the "real world". If anything it is an abomination. Out there is what is real. Great vid, hope you make it back out to the wilderness as soon as you can.

      You're not entirely wrong. I did a lot of growing up after the PCT and this trip - unfortunately becoming a 'responsible adult' and thinking about retirement savings and spending your life in the woods mooching off the generosity of strangers in exchange for a good story + jealousy over your lifestyle seem to be mutually exclusive. Heading to the Alps for a week of hiking soon... hoping to make a video of that, but I'm feeling quite rusty in both hiking and editing skills.

    You guys are hiking in my back yard. We live off grid in a cabin about 1 1/2 miles up the trail. We have 300 acres up here bordering the trail.

    Great video. Your music track volume is too high for your vocal track volume level.

      Thanks for the feedback! Audio is the toughest part of this learning process for me (and my least favorite part of making these). Can I ask what device you're viewing on so I can be sure to adapt my testing process for better results?

      Oh no! I think you're right! I guess we'll all have to hike again soon so I can make an update video with more footage of him. And now I'm off to the editor app to see if I can make any changes.

    What like hiking at in maine?

    • @HackYourPack
      @HackYourPack  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 100 Mile Wilderness was fantastic. The Northern half is pretty flat and full of mosquitos in summer. The Southern half has more challenging terrain but amazing views. That said, the Whites and the Dacks are still my favorite in the North East.

    Lets see, yes I agree with shivors, ditch the music.

  • @terne57
    @terne57 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Look at video without music, i.e. movies, normal conversations, sitting around with people "like in your car" did you have the radio on while filming? I can hear the answer already "NO", ditch the music on all your video. You will increase viewership hands down.

    • @HackYourPack
      @HackYourPack  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's an interesting perspective. I'll certainly publish some future videos without music to see if that has any impact.

    Regarding "Butte Sliding" down the hill to be considered cheating? I say NO IT'S NOT.... Otherwise, that mandatory canoe ride paddling across the river should be considered cheating too.... The ONLY cheating would be getting off the trail for a car ride by someone to the next town.... Other than that, slip & slide all you want on the trail, it's all good & fun and perfectly legal.

    • @HackYourPack
      @HackYourPack  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahhh, you raise good points. For a true pure thru-hike, the hiker must load themselves with weights and walk across the bottom of every body of water they cross. 🏆💯😬🤣

    • @SylvainSybaris
      @SylvainSybaris ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HackYourPack .... Sure, swimming across rivers (or scuba diving across... LOL) rather than canoeing is perfectly fine too, however, I would prefer the canoe instead, like most all do, but either way of crossing is NOT cheating.... Just like "Butte Sliding" down the snowy trail is NOT cheating either as mentioned in this video, and hence, my reason for commenting.
