I spent the first half of my life in that town. It hasn’t changed a bit 😆 At 13:35, the house on the right was the home I grew up in. I helped my dad put up that wooden fence. It was nice to see my old house again.

I recall a drive through Sweetwater years ago when our family drove from Houston to Albuquerque. We were in the family Cadillac Coupe de Ville. That car was a tank. Dad got a very good deal on it and it was my moms daily driver and what we used to make long trips. That year mom and my sister refused to take another 14 hour drive in any car to Albuquerque. So they flew and Dad and us boys we took the car. We were running low on gas when we reached Sweetwater. Back then most small Texas towns rolled up the sidewalk at dusk. I was driving that shift so Dad could sleep. I drove around for a while trying to find an open gas station. Dad said if we couldn't find gas we'd have to stay the night. I found one lonely gas station that was open and I offered to pay for gas. I didn't realize that the Caddy had a much larger tank than my little daily driver. I don't recall how much gas it took but back in the day it was not uncommon for gas tanks hold up to 25-35 gallons. I gave the receipt to Dad and he took out $50 and gave it to me. He told me not to spend it but to make a deposit so they money would be in my account to pay the gas credit card. We didn't see much of Sweetwater that night because the town was small and nearly all the lights and businesses were closed. Looking at the demographics Sweetwater has about 2,000 fewer residence living there than when we passed through it in the 1970s.
Im from California, and honestly there is something just so special about driving through Texas, especially the Texas countryside. Thanks for this awesome video:)
Town doesnt do anything for the youth unless you play sports. Theyve refused to build a skatepark for decades. Its literally a time machine just stuck in the past
