- This is the follow up meal video paired with the $64.38 grocery shop video. I mentioned in the last video that I got a $30 item and it was a surprise. You see it here AND it was really good!! It was a great week of meals but you'll notice there were several repetitions. Chicken. burgers, english muffins, soup. There is nothing wrong with some repetitive eating. Happy Victoria Day Weekend.
Mother’s Day or not anytime is a great time for lobster!! And you worked it in to your budget rather than spending $30 above . So definitely no shame there. I think the point of frugality is to be able to spend occasionally fir the things we really love that are pricier. Sad life if we were to never buy things we love . Planning for it can be done on almost any budget. My splurges on food usually involve seafood too! Yes chicken is so economical to stretch out many meals. Your dinners looked amazing . Another great week of good looking meals ! Great video!
I agree 100%. In general, we eat very well. Lots of luxury items. It IS because I work them into my budget. I totally plan on working more into the budget if that truck comes back. 100%.
Your chicken dinner with mashed potatoes, stuffing, peas and homemade cranberry sauce wow I am loving this dinner! ❤
Homemade beet pickles yum and desert looks delicious too❤🎉😊
Hamburger and spinach salad looks so good! 🎉❤😊
It was really a great week of meals. The handsome one likes beet pickles, so I try to make them for him! I only have a couple of bottles left from last year.
The pizzas look great. Such a good idea to utilize what groceries you have when meal planning.
Thanks for the plant update!! Your food looked so good this week!!!! 😋
It was a good week!!!
Hi, Melanie! I knew when I saw your expression in the last video that the special item was Lobster. You get a certain kind of grin that is unique when you talk about Lobster. I love Lobster and although I can get it here, it's expensive. Also, I can't generally get a whole Lobster. It will only be a tail. Thanks for the video. Your chicken dinner inspired me and we'll be having something similar tonight! Have a lovely week, Melanie!!
Lol....I have patterns! 😉
Everything looked great. I really liked the chicken and stuffing dinner and the pizza was the bomb. yum!
Both were delicious!
Yes. Lobster/seafood trucks are around NB too. They are delicious. Right now, it’s fiddleheads. Yum. Once again, love your videos. Great job
Thanks, Darlene.
Great week of meals! Have a nice weekend!
Thanks, Barbara. Happy Victoria Day weekend.
We had lobsters for Mother’s Day too. Since I’m living with my mum again, to provide her care. Nothing makes me happier than to score lobster again for this special day. Before I moved out west, I’d treat her to lobster for Mother’s Day and her birthday in June. ❤ They were so tasty this year.
I enjoyed mine too! They might be back, so I'd like to make sure I have the wiggle room in my budget upcoming to grab some. Just, in case they do come back.
@@adventuresingroceryland , have you tried the Giant Tiger stuffed burgers. They had 6 for $5 about? Cheaper than ground beef and you got more grams but I didn’t know about taste. I know you don’t enjoy processed tasting stuff but I can’t remember if you tried them. I wasn’t so brave. They looked good but then if I won’t eat them then it’s a waste. I made Korean beef instead with a pound of GT beef but so greasy but I was tired and it was there. I like getting it at the local butcher when they have it for $6 a pound. Yes, it’s more but I buy the 10 lb bags and they always have more than 10 lbs in them and the quality is superior, very little grease.
@@kathleenchambers6485 I'll look in the freezer later. I think the sale burgers from GT were cheese stuffed. I haven't had any yet. The handsome one has. I'll try one within the next week so I can give you my feedback. I absolutely love the gouda Compliments burgers. I'm going to check the packaging on them and see the ingredients. I'll get back to you.
Lobster! Yes! The joys of NB. Out here,in BC, I indulge in Salmon and Rainbow trout, in season. 💖
We see both so fortunate living on the coast. Are mussels a thing in BC? I mean a local thing?
@@adventuresingrocerylandyou can harvest local clams, mussels and oysters in BC. My parents went clamming when they were young. But now pollution and red tide can make it tricky on the South coast but Vancouver Island has better areas. As for me, I must have had a bad experience with mussels as a kid because despite having a Belgian partner at one time, I just can’t eat mussels. 😂
@tenthousanddaysofgratitude Interesting. Sorry to hear that. I actually like them as much as lobster. Way more affordable. We used to eat them extremely regular. Probably once every 3-4 weeks on a weekend night. Special treat. I need to keep my eyes open for them. Now I want them. Lol
Cell phone stands/tripods are really affordable now. I always want to get in there and help you when I see you struggle with holding the phone and mixing or measuring out ingredients. 😂
I'm gonna have to try that strawberry crumble. ❤ Thanks for the ideas.
I HAVE ONE!!! The handsome one gave it to me as a gift. It got buried in "stuff" during the last push of the move. I need to get that out. It even has a little light and a remote control I can use to start and stop. Ha! Good reminder for me to try to dig that up.
Hi Melanie 🤗 everything looked so delicious!! I'm with you on the baked goods with raisins thing...Yuck! they get all squeaky and gross. I can't eat them!LOL sometimes you can find Panettone with chocolate bits inside and no raisins. Once I tried making french toast with it and that was really yummy. Speaking of plants we have a gigantic corn plant here that my Handsome One has had for about 27 years. It actually flowered a couple of years ago Wow! I checked online and it is rare that they flower. We had to cut the flower pod off because the scent was so strong and his allergies went crazy!LOL I still have some of those special Bulls Eye BBQ sauce - that was the BEST deal!!!
That Bull's Eye was the best deal! ❤️
The handsome one took one look and said, "You won't like this, RAISINS!!" I thought I could eat around it. Epic FAIL!!!! Hahaha.
I'd like to have a 27 yr old plant!!!
Great week of meals! Everything looked delicious! I love a good fresh lobster! I’m not sure if all the cakes are panatone but bc it tends to be a little dry, I usually make a French toast bake with it
The handsome one ate the one we opened with the raisins. I have had the lemon before and thought it was nice. The chocolate will be new to me. There probably won't be raisins in that one. So that should be good.
You'd never know you had a very very modest budget for groceries, with all those great meals.
I have to admit, I need to do zip thru the lobster part...silly, I know...lol...even though it is yummy.
Curious, does you new home have a vegetable garden area?
Not yet. I have chives that are mature. I had mint but lost them in the renovations last year. I lost pretty much all the gardens (which were ornamental) in the renovations. We are starting to put those back in now. The soil is not very viable here, and the ground is extremely rocky. I have plans for a raised bed for perennial vegetables, asparagus and rhubarb. We are still in the process of completing some outside work and the gardens are last on the list. I'm pretty sure they will have to be raised. What type of raised? I'm not sure. Worst case this summer, potted tomatoes/peppers and swiss chard! Hopefully, we'll be able to manage more.
@@adventuresingroceryland I have a brown thumb, but we have turned out flower garden into a veg garden. Probably the deer will eat them, like last time, but that's ok.
I’m soo jealous. Oh stop it. I’m from New Zealand. I’m gobsmacked. I can almost taste it. Homer moment. Aaaaagh lobster!
Lol. It was really tasty! And totally spur of the moment. I love that the pantry is so stocked that on a whim I can say, yeah...no problem, I can buy 2 lobsters. ❤️❤️❤️
You deserve it. Life is for living. Those shells will make amazing stock.
@@amandagillard4116 This will sound unfrugal. I actually don't care for seafood stock. ☹️
I don’t either but lobster stock is different. Maybe it’s just me . Lobster is my kryptonite. Very rare and don’t like wasting any part of it. Last one Wes 20 years ago.
You got a great deal on the lobster. It's much higher down here, but lobsters are not native here. However, shrimp, crabs, and crawfish are, so I guess it averages out. Great video with great meals!
I've never had fresh crab before. I'd be interested in trying that. ❤️
I never would have guessed lobster! Or seafood😂😅 since I
never buy it. Blue crabs are big here in Maryland, USA.
You do a great job. 😋 do you eat beans or lentils? Cheap protein, complex carbs and fiber, quite versatile. I can email you my list of meals if you'd like. Stuffing can be made in muffin tins and frozen. June 4 is (USA) National Cheese Lover's Day! 💛 today is National Pizza Party Day 🍕🍕
I quite enjoy lentils. I use them as fillers in recipes. I do eat beans but more sporadically. I like black beans the best. I've never tried crab. I'd love to try it. Do you like them?
Lobster❤❤❤love lobster❤🎉😊
I really enjoy lobsters!
Me3!😊
That chicken dinner looked Devine! I’m from Maryland and I love crabs 🦀 but I do not care for Lobster🦞 I remember Bulls Eye BBQ Sauce but I haven’t seen it in a grocery store since the 90s 🤔
I'd like to try crabs. That would be fun for me.
Yay for lobster season 🦞
I really enjoy lobster.
Bread pudding Yummy
The handsome one ate it. Ha.
I like the lemon cake and there are 2 of those. I've never tried the chocolate.
We are kindred spirits. I do not like raisins in baked good either!
Hahaha. Nasty in the baked goods. Delightful covered in chocolate. Lol.
Oh my god noooooo this is not how to shell lobster
Lol. How do you shell lobster? I'm certainly no expert but this is how I always do it. ❤️
